but lately the remus x kingsley maggots have been burrowing into the folds of my brain... i think ki would see himself sooo much in remus: younger remus is reserved, really shy, but also so incredibly smart once you actually get him talking - he's just holding himself back. i think kingsley, when he was remus' age, was much the same - though for him, it was more about lacking confidence/being afraid to take up the amount of space he wants to, whereas remus is very naturally reserved and needs someone to see him. order-age remus gets mistaken a lot for being quiet or not having much of an opinion, but that's actually not really true - he just keeps that kind of thing close to his chest, and won't speak unless you show you're actually interested in hearing what he has to say. ki is super fascinated by this, and he gives remus that safe space to feel important and valued and able to speak his mind. they're that couple that just have Their Own Thing going on - you'd probably look at them and think like okay how tf does that work, but neither of them need you to understand it. once they come together it's a very easy thing, and they keep it incredibly private. i think their sexual/romantic relationship - while definitely existing - is secondary to their sole partnership & ability to understand one another. they might not be holding hands or sitting in one another's lap, but remus will hand a book to kingsley that he think he might like, or kingsley will give the floor to remus during an order meeting because he'll never volunteer himself to speak, and that's romance to them, that element of almost mind-reading. it doesn't make sense to most people but it doesn't need to!! and they do NOT play abt each other
