‘Brew time trinkets’ Large wrist strap.
Hi welcome to another little project on Beginners Journey into Leather craft here @HandMadeCP. ‘Brew time trinkets’ is a title I came up with when I got bored one day when the repetitiveness off a particular job was getting to be a bit much,so, to keep my head ‘In the game’ so to speak,I started making different smaller things during my breaks. ( Then how is that a break I hear you say ?..well ‘A change is as good as a rest’ ? lol ). Some times it takes a few days of ‘breaks’ to complete the item but the point is to re-engage my numb brain and it really works. When these are finished i like to show them as my Break time trinkets. So..now ya know. This time I made a wrist strap, here’s a few pics to show how I went about it.
Pic 1: I made the usual template from card stock then transferred to the leather cut the pieces, dyed and burnished.
Pic2 enjoying the new Burnishing machine.
Pic 4 had to bend the strap over the ring so needed to skive down the end as shown this made it thinner and allowed it to bend more easily.
Pic 5: I coated the leather pieces in the ‘effax’ Balm which makes the leather soft, takes a lot of buffing but comes up nice and smells great lol. Using antique brass rivets I fixed the center strap to the main body and attached the buckles.
Pic 6; mostly done, just needs some small ‘stays’
Pic 7 :All done, ..and my numb brain is back in the game..back to repetitive lol.
Pic 8: I like how this came out and it’s an easy project for beginners.
Pic 11: Not really a build along set today..just ‘what happens when I get bored..which if you are a regular follower you will know happens from time to time and little gems like this are the result. Hope you liked. Back soon with a build along set. watch this space. Mean while..Stay Crafty.
