Carol drove both of you home rather slowly and in silence. She didn’t have the heart to switch on the radio, all she would be able to think about then would be your singing. Her eyes were still clouded with tears on the drive home.
Once she parked in your driveway, she switched off the car and carried you out bridal style. She looked down at you while walking to your doorstep, you were still unconscious but you seemed to have a bruise on your left hand but otherwise you seemed uninjured. If you exclude the vomit and spilled drinks that is.
She opened the door with one arm, lifting your entire weight with the other and walked upstairs to your bathroom. She helped you out of your shirt and left to get a new one with pajamas. When she came back, you seemed to be awake.
“Wha where am I?” You asked drunkenly. “And where’s my shirt?” You slurred, almost falling onto the ground as you attempted to stand.
“Here’s your shirt, but we need to get you cleaned up first.” Carol said and headed over to clean you up a bit. You passed out again almost instantly, you would’ve fallen and injured yourself if carol hadn’t caught you.
She sighed and set you back down, your back leaning against the tub. She took a clean hand towel and wet it with warm water and started cleaning you up. She finished quickly and put your shirt on you.
Carol started taking off your pants so she could change you into pajamas, she wasn’t about to let you go to sleep in jeans that smelled like alcohol. You seemed to stir again when your pants were half way off.
“Get the hell away from me!” You shouted, almost kicking carol in the face. She was hurt, even in your drunken state you seemed to remember the fight. “I’m in love with my badass girlfriend!” You shouted, then passed out again.
Carol couldn’t help but laugh as she felt relieved. Somehow, in your drunken state you managed to remember her. She continued her task without any more incidents.
She then carried you into bed, putting you on your side and setting your head on the pillow. Carol first decided not to touch you, or maybe even sleep on the couch but decided against it. Instead she slept on her side.
After some time, she couldn’t sleep and turned over, pulling you closer to her chest. She spooned you tightly, inhaling your scent. It didn’t smell like alcohol anymore, it just smelt like you.
“I’m so sorry.” She whispered into your hair, falling asleep almost instantly with her arms wrapped around you.

You woke up extremely disoriented with a throbbing headache and an empty feeling in your stomach. But also somehow extremely warm and comfortable. It took you a couple of seconds to figure out but you were in bed, in pajamas in a clean shirt with someone spooning you tightly. You turned your head groggily you see Carol sleeping.
You smiled softly seeing her like this. You’d missed her so much, you’d missed this so much. You vaguely remembered the fight, how you got drunk but didn’t know anything past that. You turned back around, thinking.
Who had brought you back here? Did carol come? How did she know where you were? What time is it?
You groaned, the questions hurt your head even more, you decided they could wait till morning and fell back asleep.

You woke up again, this time when there was sunlight out. Your headache was better but your stomach was way worse but the bed wasn’t warm beside you anymore. The smell of bacon wafted through the house as you got up, your head spinning.
You groaned in frustration and sat back down, your head in your hands. You faintly heard the clanging of pans in your kitchen but you couldn’t care less. You saw the picture of you kissing carols cheek as Maria and Monica rolled their eyes at you on the beach, at sunset. You picked up the small frame and stared at it. How you wished life was that simple. Oh how you wished that you and Carol wouldn’t fight anymore.
“I brought you breakfast…?” Carol said softly, a plate of pancakes and bacon in one hand and coffee in the other as she watched you. She shifted her weight uneasily. You nodded slightly, putting the picture where it was supposed to be.
She sat down on her side of the bed, handing you the food and the coffee. You set the coffee on the bedside table and put the food in your lap. You were hungry, you hadn’t had anything except alcohol since lunch yesterday.
You started eating slowly, chewing slowly as you stared into the distance. Carol watched you, eyes flickering nervously between your face, the picture and the food. You put your fork loaded with pancake in her direction, gesturing for her to eat some.
“You haven’t eaten either.” You stated, pushing the fork towards her mouth. You thought you heard her grumble a fine before opening her mouth. You almost wanted to be passive aggressive about it but decided not to.
You continued doing this, eventually ending up feeding carol half the breakfast she cooked up for you. Once it was over, you sipped your coffee slowly. Even though she’d been away for over 3 weeks, she still remembered how you liked your coffee. You felt tears pricking in your eyes at the thought.
“We need to talk.” Carol stated, it seemed she had enough of the awkward silence.
“Continue.” You mumbled into your coffee. “Don’t you dare start with I’m sorry though.” You said, shooting a small glare in her direction. She chuckled softly, causing you to smile despite the situation.
“Don’t worry I wasn’t going to,” she joked, then ran a hand through her hair, her face going serious. “Yesterday, you were right,” she started, you almost snorted into your coffee at this. She smiled and laughed a bit at your reaction, but continued.
“You were right, it was wrong for me to expect you to be alright with me leaving for weeks on end when you were worrying about me. It was wrong for me to give my time to everyone else when you wanted it the most.” She said softly, reaching to brush a strand of hair out of your face.
“If this is a breakup speech Danvers you’re about to have a hot cup of coffee thrown at you.” You threatened jokingly, even in you hungover state you hoped it wasn’t a breakup speech.
She laughed at this, she wasn’t going to break up with you. It was sort of a relief knowing that you didn’t want the same. You laughed in return as well, groaning at the sudden pain in your head.
“Don’t make me laugh.” You grumbled, sipping your coffee and waiting for carol to continue.
“It wasn’t, it was kinda of a ‘I’m gonna do better from now on’ speech if I didn’t get the idea across.” She finished with a smirk. “Forgive me?” She asked, her smirk disappearing as she reached her hand forward, waiting for you to take her hand.
“Eh I GuESs.” You said in a mocking tone, making carol laugh again. You took her hand though, but took it away, much to carols disappointment. “I need two hands to prevent spilling my coffee.” You said, continuing to sip your coffee.
She laughed again, scooting closer to you. After staring at your empty cup of coffee, you put it on the side table and put your head on carols shoulder. She put her arm around your shoulders and gently kissed your head.
Still smiling, she grabbed the TV remote and put on the first thing that popped up on Netflix. You watched in silence for some time. Until a question came to you.
“Carol, how’d you know where I was?” You asked, turning your head to look up at her.
“Telepathy?” She joked, hoping you’d buy it. She saw your deadpan face and instantly answered the truth, leaving out the part about crying in the car.
“One last question, why are the photos that were in my wallet in your pocket?” You asked, staring at her sweatpants pocket that had the selfie sticking out. The selfie was still partly ripped.
Carol could’ve sworn she put it back in your wallet. She pulled it out, finding that she’d put the entire wallet in her pocket as well as your phone.
“To save your wallet.” She answered, handing you your belongings.
You checked the time on your phone, it was 9:18, you smiled at the wallpaper and the pictures before putting it on the side table.
“Nice wallpaper by the way.” She remarked slyly, smirking. Your face lit up a bright red instantly. She started laughing at your flustered state.
“Uh well, you see, uh, it uh, AGH,” you stuttered, covering your face with your hands. When you heard her continue laughing, you punched her arm lightly, only to make her laugh harder.
“Don’t worry I won’t judge your obsession with me.” She remarked, finally stopping laughing at you.
“What’s your wallpaper?” You asked, before she could answer you pulled her phone out of her pocket, only to see it to be a picture of you admiring the sunset, the colors reflecting in your eyes.
She made similar sounds to yours, and snatched her phone away, a prominent blush now on her face. You laughed at her, forgetting the headache for a second. Only for a second.
“Stop making me laughhhhh.” You groaned loudly, leaning your head back on her shoulder.
She smiled at you, she had missed you. A lot, the feeling of being loved and cared for. The feeling of being hugged, cuddled and loved. Most of all, she missed the feeling of being HOME
