So, I'm not inside the writer's heads obviously, and I don't know the exact reason why they're pursuing this plot with Tamika, or what the end goal is.

But I do want to point out that this was the September 15th episode. 5 years ago, episode 7 (History Week) revealed some future events from 2052 including

"Approval ratings for the mayor will hover in the low forties- which will be surprising, because, at that point, there will have been no mayor for over 30 years."

So the latest Night Vale can have a mayor is 2021, 31 years before those approval ratings are posted, and 4 years from now

I think when they wrote that line, only 7 episodes into their first audio drama, Finknor didn't realize the show would still be going half a decade later.

And I think maybe now they're trying to deal with having accidentally written themselves into a corner. Sometime in the next 4 years Night Vale needs to have no mayor, and there's really only one character who's successfully overthrown a regime. Just throwing it out there.

Cecil and the Dark Planet

Just to remind you that, in addition to comparing the station to a Dark Planet Lit By No Sun when he was younger, Cecil also encountered the Dark Planet as a vision inside the Condo I'm noting this because nearly every other sighting of the Dark Planet A) Immediately precedes the viewers death and B) Connected to the movement of crates filled with buildings from the city which worships Huntokarr which could mean that Cecil is or was connected to that city

So it seems the Distant Prince may be connected to the Dark Planet Lit By No Sun (Makes sense since, judging by Lost in the Mail, he is also integral to the Blood Space War) But if you recall, the Dark Planet is also home to the shrouded figures who turn in place and hum So whatever's going down, the shrouded figures in the post office are most likely involved

hey so i might be crazy and imagining it but. i'm listening to wtnv and im listening to year 3 right? and im noticing that at certain points, just for a second, cecil sounds almost distant and warped like in the september monologues.

If They Had Lived

Okay, guys, this is a very clunky thought process and it isn't refined at all yet, but what if the reason we have the NO! cassette and other signs of an alternate past is because something like alternate history week happened that enforced the history of "If Nulogorsk, not Night Vale, had been destroyed by the nukes." Again, it's not at all refined and I just woke up so it might not be totally coherent, but I'd like to get other thoughts on this.

This isn’t the first time an anachronistic mode of transport has appeared in town without any clear way of getting there, the same thing happened with the Nullgorschian submarine in “Deft Bowman”. When that happened, the Secret Police arrived to discover if there were any passengers and coerced a volunteer to explore. There were also hints that the vessel had come from the past. Sound familiar?

It also isn’t the first time most of Night Vale felt a nagging urge to all seek out an unknown and possibly dangerous situation. It happened with the walk signals in “WALK”, doing nothing in “Lazy Day”, and chanting at the Old Well in “Well of Night”.

… Aaand it’s not the first time the Secret Police fenced in citizens who went to check out a weird object that appeared, and then forced those citizens to confront something dangerous. It also happened in “Monolith”.

The implication that the train took Cecil back in time is interesting, because it introduces another method of time travel. We already knew that rifts in time could appear spontaneously, that deer can use the impact of cars hitting them for time travel, and that the Museum of Forbidden Technologies has a few time machines. Recently, in “After 3327”, it was implied that Nick Teller is working on building a new time machine.

(The series has pointed out a few times that time travel is legal in Night Vale, and this is a source of civic pride. Possibly this is going to eventually lead into a time travel plot line. (Fingers crossed that someone saves the pre-Strex Kevin we met in “Triptych”.))

The Dog Park

I recently thought of the fact that everything in this year’s arc is happening after Dana opened the Dog Park to dogs. And the current antagonist appears to be a dog and possibly Kevin, who we know to be living in, oh would you look at that? The Dog Park.

Now, I love Dana, but I would really like to discuss how she might have possibly majorly screwed up.
