[EN] Polarization is growing. Can we really be surprised?
I didn’t vote for either of the candidates who made it to the second round. But I’m watching the whole spectacle from a certain distance.
I’ve written before about the post-truth era — and now these phenomena feed off each other: filter bubbles, algorithms, emotional shortcuts.
I try to sidestep it. With varying success.
I've managed to tweak my feeds so that I get content from both sides.
And that’s why I can clearly see just how drastically the perspectives differ.
RAFAŁ TRZASKOWSKI
👁 Through the eyes of a KO supporter:
A European statesman, Rafał “Golden Tongue” Trzaskowski, the hope of a progressive Poland. Graduate of top universities, expert in diplomacy, international standards, and Western culture. He wants a modern Poland — green, tolerant, open. A country where kids are taught to think, not just memorize. Where women make decisions about their own bodies, and the state doesn’t peek into your bedroom or your plate. He fights for the climate, human rights, and European values. And he always wears the perfect blazer.
👁 Through the eyes of a PiS supporter:
A foreign agent, probably paid by Brussels, Berlin — or maybe even Soros. A man bent on dismantling Poland — destroying families, abolishing the Church, teaching preschoolers how to masturbate, and euthanizing the elderly. A smiling face of the rainbow plague. The Green Deal? More like a red revolution in eco disguise. He wants the European Union instead of a homeland. Or better yet — the German Republic of Poland. And let’s not forget: he’s supposed to be Tusk’s heir. In other words, Traitor 2.0.
KAROL NAWROCKI
👁 Through the eyes of a PiS supporter:
Salt of the earth. A man who knows life, knows the streets, knows history. No polished TV puppet — a tough guy who understands Poland and how to defend it. He fought communism, defends the IPN, restores honor to the Cursed Soldiers. If need be, he’ll punch you in the face — all in the name of the Fatherland. And he knows some rough guys from the neighborhood? Good. At least he’s in touch with the real Poland, not sitting in some ivory tower like the liberal elites.
👁 Through the eyes of a KO supporter:
A right-wing Don Corleone. An IPN pit bull with a past straight out of a police file. Former hooligan, alleged pimp who — legend has it — trafficked girls out of the Grand Hotel and fought in forest brawls with shady types. Scammed an elderly man out of his apartment. Never apologized. Instead of running for office, he should be facing trial. And his campaign? Straight out of the '90s — all pathos, violence, and ideas lifted from the X-Files: IPN Edition. A man of the past, not the future.
And this isn’t about judgment.
It’s about how wildly these images diverge.
There’s no common ground left.
Each side is convinced the other means the end of Poland.
That voting for “them” is an act of betrayal, absurdity, proof of madness.
In such a climate, real conversation becomes impossible.
But maybe it’s not just the climate.
Maybe it’s simply us — humans.
Because the truth is, humanity doesn’t operate on facts.
We run on beliefs.
Our brains don’t perceive the world in real time — they reconstruct it.
They rely on patterns, guesses, shortcuts.
And we act the same way in politics: we absorb headlines, rumors, fragments.
Some dive deeper, others barely skim the surface.
But in general?
We’re like a troop of monkeys fighting over a banana.
Harsh? Maybe.
But maybe that’s where something better begins.
Maybe only when we admit we’re just human, can we begin to build something more humane.
Walczy o klimat, prawa człowieka i europejskie wartości.
A raczej czerwona rewolucja w wersji eko. Chce, żeby zamiast ojczyzny była Unia Europejska. A najlepiej – Niemiecka Republika Polska. Czyli zdrajca 2.0.
Chłop z krwi i kości.
