Okay I watched the trailer cause I was curious and I'm convinced Kiko is a plushie at the start so they can bump up the turning the plushies into magical pets bit sooner and he'll be a magical mascot

YEAH that was my first thought too (after, you know, mourning the rabbit that he was lol) -- everything I saw in the trailer suggests that they've taken a whole bunch of elements from across the series and smooshed them together, so definitely wouldn't be surprised to see the fairy pets incorporated.

... and that emoji face accurately captures the exact feeling this reboot (particularly the visual component) inspires in me.

Man alive. My notifications just threw up someone having going off in a massive tag rant about how rubbish ROP is on a Silm post I made. Like, exclusively the Silm, it had nothing to do with ROP canon, it didn't mention the show or even allude to it.

Obviously people are justified in not liking a TV show, and once a post is out there I can't exactly control how people respond to it or what association of ideas it triggers off (unless they're actually being a dick, then lol block). But man, I swear there are certain elements of this fandom that are more concerned with slagging off ROP than actually enjoying Tolkien.

What I hate most about Amazon's The Rings if Power is the loss of all the possible individual fanarts of characters like Gil-galad, Celebrimbor and Elrond that could have been made, but will now be some variation of the sad Amazon version.

These characters were already not as often depicted in fanart (outside of the shipping material of course). Now there will be an increase, but in a design I don't really enjoy.

I'd love to comission some decent fanart, but I'm not sure who'd be interested and if I can afford it...
