The son of God was very perplexed about the whole thing. The world seemed very different from when he was down here last time. He felt rather lost, but when he was asked about an old friend he was directed to somewhere quite wet and a little bit dark. At least he would have one person he knew.

He walked down the alley and finally saw the long figure with red hair sprawled upon the floor. He didn't seem in a very good way. He knelt down and tilted his head curiously.

"Excuse me? I was wondering if you could help me."

"crowley..." for a second he'd considered ignoring the other when bumping into him in the streets of london. he was on earth, he had no interest in thinking about hell. then again... fun could be had, either way, demons and humans both had buttons to be pushed.

"how has putting pins on the sidewalks been treating you? what do you do? two-a-day? that enough to get them off your back?"

The quiet music that reverberates through the drawing room has a haunting quality. Azazel is seated behind a large oak desk, reading in one of the many books that lined nearly every wall in the large mansion. He knew someone had entered the premise as soon as they had crossed the gate - paranoia had been one of the first things to settle in after the fall - but the sound of footsteps in the hallway is familiar. Welcome, even.

His book snaps shut simultaneously with the door opening, and he stands, a hint of a smile on his face: "I hadn't expected you so soon, but I'm glad you could get away. We have something to discuss."

Even though I have a sizeable plush collection, I'm not really that big on collecting plushies. They have to really appeal to me for me to take them home, or be a gift from a loved one.

Besides Twix, I'm always down for a KitKat. I will commit the horrible sin of eating the whole thing instead of breaking off the bars, I don't give a single flying fuck.

Black irises watch, flicking backwards and forwards across the scene as she wrinkles her nose in…maybe a little bit of disgust? Or non-understanding? The mortals were funny little creatures and she brought out the worst in them at times, dragging out anxieties and fears like unravelling threads. 

The little nightmare shouldn’t be here, the Dream Lord would be unhappy with her stepping into the waking world, though that wasn’t something that she really concerned herself about. He wasn’t here, and The Dreaming had become a sandy wasteland blowing on the wind. 

The little half pint looks up at the demon, vastly older than her, barely a baby in cosmic terms…and then back at the little rabble of teenagers all taking over each other, showing each other noisy little things on the thing in their hands. Laughing and making fun of each other in ways that shouldn’t make each other happy but it seems to. 

“Why are they so…weird…?” 

She doesn’t get them, maybe who could blame her, she was not mortal, crafted with one job in mind. A tool rather than a being, maybe. “I know that one,” a little nod of her head, “he dreams about all of his teeth falling out in front of her…”

THE SUN HAS SET, and the Moon has risen—though Aziraphale remains unsure of just how long they'd sat there on the cliffside overlooking the sea.

It was long enough that Job had finished weeping back home. Long enough that the multitude of goats were now wreaking havoc around the property. Long enough for Enon to question, chase down, and confirm that one of the goats has wings now.

Then again, weirder things had happened that day.

With a sigh, Aziraphale has risen to his feet, sensing the hour of a timely departure approaching, and he looks at Crawley, asking if he will be all right.

A polite smile replies before the angel's words, although a shadow of sorrow weighs on his features, even heavier upon his heart.

❝ Actually, I—well, I don't know if I know you at all. ❞ His eyes soften with remorse for words spoken earlier. ❝ At least, not this you. ❞

And not the angel you were.

❝ Do you think THAT MIGHT CHANGE? ❞
