God, PHM is really scratching that speculative biology itch in my brain. Do you think Eridians have their own type of CPR/resuscitation techniques? Their carapace is definitely too hard for actual CPR as we know it, but maybe they have their own kind of defibrillator that can get electrical currents through the carapace to the organs. We know they had no idea what radiation is, so they definitely don't have X-rays, not that they need it since they can use the echolocation to see through each other anyways. Do they get cancer? How do they treat it?

Honestly medical care on Erid in general is a very interesting idea to me. They probably have all kinds of equipment and protocols that look insane to us, but makes perfect sense to them. I've never had to think "how would medicine work for sentient alien rocks 16 light years away?" But I am now, what a great timeline we live in

At least the "ethanol to prevent antifreeze poisoning" is actually scientifically legitimate. Even if it is kind of goofy.

The enzyme that breaks down the ethylene glycol into toxic byproducts actually primarily targets ethanol. Feed it a bunch of ethanol to breakdown and the ethylene glycol gets excreted by normal waste means.

Of course the fungus we see in TLOU is Corycep, but maybe it was able to mutate or just feed off of the other fungus?

Nope. Not how genetics work.

A recessive gene is a gene that is not present, but the parent carries. They need a partner with the same recessive trait for it to become dominant. So unless Rhaenyra also has some dark haired ancestor, no the brown hair could not have come from Rhaenys. Rhaenys carries the genetics for black hair, not brown.

Also, black hair is a dominant trait, just like brown eyes. For it to skip Laenor but effect all 3 of his children when their mother has no recessive dark hair trait is still 0.

As we discussed, TWO copies of recessive genes have to be present for it to to become dominant. Considering all Targaryens are blonde, and her mother was half Arryn (Arryns are also blonde) it still could not happen. The child would have to receive two copies of the same gene for them to get dark hair. Considering the mother only has blonde, it could ONLY happen with a man with brown hair. Laenor does not have brown hair. He cannot be the father from a genetic standpoint even in the book
