I weigh a lot. Right now, I think about 158/160lbs?? (Not so sure Bc it’s been awhile since I weighed in) I’m 5’9” and feel amazing almost every day.💃🏼 ———> so can we talk about weight real quick??? I’m truly thankful for the scales that have gotten me here.Yet also thankful that I don’t care anymore- what that number reads. I think the problem most of us have - that I had- is the emotional attachment TO the scale. When in all reality- numbers are just numbers. They help us track progress. that’s it. Bigger is not bad NOR good. It’s just what it is. —————————— I used to be OBSESSED with the scale- Bc all I wanted was to see that number go down. and because of that, I had a STRONG hate & sensitivity towards scales, for a long time. **But without the scale- I stopped tracking my progress, and suddenly I was up 8 lbs from the last time I could remember....and all that stress came back.😳 <When, like I said. It’s just a number.> What I realized is that I may have gained muscle. (Weighs more than fat) and the bigger issue that I REALLY needed to address- was the extreme emotional reaction I had- TO the scale. ——————— ive learned that using it obsessively can be harmful. Yet throwing it in the fireplace out of spite & anger can be JUST as dangerous. There has to be a balance. And I think I’ve finally found it.💗 I just had to disconnect from the emotions of it all. Can we all just stop being afraid of- and obsessing over the scale?? YOU are beautiful because you are you. If you want to be healthy- the scale might help you get there. But it doesn’t define your beauty. 5 ways to begin your at home yoga practice
1. Find a space that you can make your own.
It doesn't have to be to big but at least big enough to give you some space to play around and fall over when it happens, and always make sure to keep this space clean. Ive seen people use their room, the kitchen or like me, the living room.
2. Make yourself a badass playlist
Seems silly I would even make this part of my top 5 but when your mind is everywhere like mine it’s nice to have something playing in the background it helps me focus in more on my practice. I made mine on Spotify and have been building it over the years. I have everything from calm music instrumentals to really upbeat workout songs.

3. Discipline yourself
I get it, it’s not easy for everyone to step on the mat everyday and sometimes you feel like you don't have the time but the more you do it the better.
I started doing 20 to 30 minute practices and over the years i found myself loosing track of time and being on the mat for 2-3 hours.
If you only have ten minutes find some favorite poses you like to do. Example: Forward fold, downward facing dog or a high lunge.
4. Stop comparing yourself to everyone on social media
Realize your at the beginning of your yoga journey and everything will seem a lot more challenging, it’s easier to get discouraged at this stage but within and few months you’ll realize your hard work is paying off.
It’s not about who can do the coolest pose.
The best part is how much more in tune you’ll feel with your body.
5. Watch online video content and learn from it
Watching instructors on youtube is a great way to learn a lot of the yoga lingo.. like what in the world is a “ sun salutation” or “dolphin phone”?
Notice how the instructor will you connect you from one pose to the next.
After watching some youtube videos i really encourage trying not to use them. You’ll be able to finally get into YOUR VERY OWN PRACTICE.
It’s always a good idea to continue to come back to the videos or look up specific poses you have any questions about.
