Headcanon that Darry can draw just as well as Pony does, but he doesn’t have as much time to dedicate to it

yes!!

i have two headcanons-one being daycare worker darry, and also darry who helps out the school’s drama club with painting, so he gets to show off then! his dad used to draw with him (i hc their dad was a soldier and he came back but had severe PTSD and used art as a way to cope) but i like to also headcanons that post book to help vent his stress he’ll draw one picture a night before he goes to sleep to clear his mind-he’ll draw his brothers or just scenery, whatever he’s feeling. he’ll give them to his brothers too and he found the pics in a box once and nearly cried because he thought they were gonna throw them away lol-but darry definitely draws!! i also like to headcanon he was really good at carving and woodworking-he had to take an art class and he chose sculpting/woodworking and he fell in love with it. hell shape candles sometimes too! especially if they’re scented. he’ll sometimes carve his scented candles into animals if he has a day off simply because he enjoys it.

Can I request all the headcanon memes for Soda please?

⌆ a nervous tic or habit they do

Soda’s worst nervous habit is that he bites his nails. The week Pony and Johnny went missing, he literally chewed his nails until they bled.

⏀ describe their usual smile

Warm and genuine. Even Soda’s casual smiles reach his eyes and he always shows all of his teeth whenever he smiles.

⇅ do they look up or down while thinking?

Neither- Soda will stare straight ahead and not blink. The rest of the gang finds it very,,,, unnerving.

❧ describe their usual sleeping position

He sleeps fairly straight and on his side, mainly because he shares the bed with Pony and doesn’t want to squish him into the wall. However, when he does get the chance to sleep on his own, he sprawls out on his stomach.

✜ what’s their posture like in a normal situation?

Surprisingly, Soda has the best posture out of all of the gang. It’s not perfect, but its rare to ever catch him slouching.

❖ describe their hands

His hands are a bit on the smaller side and as much as he tries to keep on top of it, he usually has car grease or oil under his nails. Two-bit likes to tease that Soda has ‘girl hands’ and it bugs him a little.

❞ write a quote they would find themselves saying

“Socks and shoes, I need my socks and shoes”- he’ll repeat this under his breath as he’s getting ready for work because there have been times in the past where he’s walked out the door wearing neither.

§ how would their hair gray? or would they lose their hair first?

All of the Curtis men grey in the same way- it starts of subtle and then goes into the sort of ‘salt and pepper’ look. They all have really thick hair and none of them ever bald. Soda does keep his hair fairly long throughout his whole life though, unlike Ponyboy and Darry.

Tickling, gently teasing, random full-on hugs, and giving pet/nick names

He still has the horse brush that he would use to brush Mickey and even though he knows he’ll never see that horse again, he still holds on to it.

What headcanons do you have about Soda dying in Vietnam?

• when sodapop gets drafted steve absolutely loses it and ends up enlisting himself too

• during the months he’s gone (and still alive) darry or ponyboy will still accidentally set out a plate for him for breakfast / dinner before Remembering

• same with jelly. whenever eggs are made they still put it on the table out of habit

• sodapop gets sent to vietnam four months after being drafted. his letters would become more and more rare as he spends the next year there

• finally, 16 months after being sent away, he writes darry and ponyboy telling them he’s coming home

• one month before sodapop was supposed to get sent home, he’s killed in battle by a piece of shrapnel from a bomb

• darry & ponyboy, who’ve been literally bouncing off the walls waiting to get their brother back, get the letter two weeks later. (two weeks before he was supposed to be home)

• steve doesn’t find out until he gets back to tulsa, because no one could find it in themselves to tell him that his best friend is dead by writing it on a piece of paper

• sodapop gets buried right next to mr & mrs curtis

• two bit somehow becomes even more of an alcoholic, and even though he tries to hide it, he’s not a cheery as he used to be by a long shot

• ponyboy can’t find it in himself to clean his room because he knows he’ll find sodapop’s things & can’t handle it

• steve quits the DX because it reminds him too much of his best friend and finds work at another garage

• steve drifts away from the curtis gang for a minute, because ponyboy reminds him too much of sodapop and the house is overwhelming for him. so for a while, all pony and darry have left is two-bit

• when asked about his name, ponyboy will still say “i got a brother named sodapop.” nobody bothers correcting him.

• they eventually get sodapop’s possessions back, which include the following: an unsent letter to Sandy, explaining that he’s in vietnam and he hopes her and the baby are okay, and that hopefully, if he ever makes it home, he’ll get to meet them one day / a family picture of him, his brothers, and their parents / a picture of the gang (taken when dallas and johnny were still alive) / his mother’s good luck charm / another unsent letter addressed to no one, saying that he keeps having dreams that he won’t ever make it back home, but he hopes it’s all just in his head. there’s a date in the top right corner, and it marks two days before he was killed in battle

• ponyboy, who eventually becomes a published author, creates a character inspired by sodapop, and puts a little memorial page for his brother in the back of the book

• darry eventually gets married, and names his first son Patrick

Sky is the perfect musical Johnny, but there’s something about Ralph Macchio’s Johnny that is just irreplaceable. He was literally the embodiment of the Johnny from the book and his performance was incredible.

i love love love sky- (i actually used to headcanon johnny as half native so it was perfect to me) but ralph just is johnny to me and embodies book johnny like you said

i love both of them but i’ll always have to go with ralph if you’re asking for preferences :(

What if Darry grew a beard after the events of the book because he thinks it looks more mature?

hm…honestly i can’t really see it? I don’t think Darry would WANT to look older-i mean, i think he already knows he doesn’t look his age and realistically i don’t think he’s like it much considering he is only twenty-and i honestly think that growing out a beard would just make him feel older. Just my opinion
