Marvel Comics Announced “Marvel’s Voices” Pride” for Pride Month 2022

Marvel Comics has announced a new giant sized one-shot for Pride Month 2022. Marvel’s Voices: Pride will showcase LGBTQI+ writers and artists. The one-shot will also introduce new characters to the Marvel universe.

Creative teams and stories included in Marvel’s Voices: Pride include:

a new hero introduced by Charlie Jane Anders

a Moondragon story from Christopher Cantwell

a Hercules story from Andrew Wheeler and Brittney Williams

a Young Avengers story from Alyssa Wong and Stephen Byrne

a D-Man story from Grace Freud and Scott B. Henderson

a legacy of Pride exploration from Ira Madison III

a story from Danny Lore about “ two characters long left in the closet in a tale of love and redemption”

Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1 (2022), featuring a main cover by Nick Robles (above) and a variant cover by Stephen Byrne, goes on sale on June 15, 2022.

Ok so I’ve never read any of the comics before, so obviously I became a Loki fan from TH’s portrayal of him in the MCU. But every time u use comic pages in one of your answers, I found it fascinating! And now I kinda wanna read them. So a few questions: 1) are there any big differences between the comic’s version of his character vs the MCU’s? 2) is the scene where Loki discovers his heritage the same? What about Thor 1 as a whole? 3) which ones should I read, and in what order? Tysm

It’s great that you want to read comics because of Loki! I do the same and only follow Loki’s story! :D I’m tagging @nlhollow​ as the more knowledgeable source in comics.

1. Yes and no. MCU Loki and comics Loki share some characteristics. They are both tricksters and mages, have a rivalry with Thor and they are trying to prove their worth. But at the same time they are very different. Comics Loki’s history goes back to 60s(if I’m not mistaken) and his story is very different. He was a villain for the most part of his story. He went through many incarnations and his story is quite complicated. MCU has adapted Loki from Marvel comics but in the end of the day they are two different characters.

2. As I said the story is quite different, that includes his story of adoption and since it was in the old comics, I only read it from his wikia.

3. IMO the best Loki comic is “Loki: Agent of Asgard” and if you want to read one memorable comic with a good story and arc, this is my recommendation for you. But if you are interested to follow Loki, I would recommend reading his story from wikia up to his first death, and follow the story in comics when he is reincarnated as kid Loki starting with “Journey into Mystery(2011)”. Then the story continues with “Young Avengers(2013)” and after that you can read “Loki: Agent of Asgard(2014)”. Don’t forget to read “Original Sin- Thor & Loki: The Tenth Realm” when the story comes to it. And now we have a new Loki solo comic too: “Loki(2019)”. Between these comics Loki only appears in other’s stories. One more thing the main story of Marvel comics happens in the universe “Earth-616”. There are alternate universes in Marvel comics and among them, I recommend “Loki(2004)” in which Loki defeats Thor and takes the throne of Asgard, and “Loki(2010)” which is an adaptation of Loki’s story in Norse mythology.

Is there a good way to enjoy super heroes without reading most of the comics/watching the movies?

I really loved reading a lot of the young avengers Wiccan and Hulkling stuff in hs/college. And I really enjoy a lot of heroes I’ve had chances to see in short bursts like Squirel Girl abd DC’s Midnighter and Apollo. I just really don’t like the genre as a whole or format.

Even working with comic publisher for work, I have an issue with finding jumping on points to fave heroes and long standing heroes and navigating. On top of that I’m not a fan of all the grimdark themes and disturbing content in a lot of the series.

I love the characters, their powers, relationships, designs and so much more but it’s so hard to find light hearted and easy to understand cotent. I want more series like the new Squirel girl run.

What’s the best way to enjoy these characters outside of their bloody and contrived serials?
