Like this post if you are in your 20s
i’m 20 now. i never really imagined being here. but i am.
it’s an age old tale - the difficulty of navigating your 20s and making your way through the rest of adulthood.
nobody really know what they should be doing. anybody that seems like they do is just a great actor.
i think what we all need - what i need, and what anybody else in their 20s or about to enter this period, is courage. blind courage. the courage to run full speed at what you want, to grasp and claw your way towards it, despite any fears or doubts you may have. the courage to explore and learn and speak your mind - to not agree for the sake of piety or politeness. to question why. to really sink your teeth into an issue.
i think it’s important to have the courage to follow what you’re passionate about and to not be embarrassed or afraid. yes it’s hard. but it’s worth it. that’s the fucking point. you need to nurture yourself - part of that is engaging in your passions, no matter how impossible it can feel.
it’s important to be resilient. today might be awful. you might feel like today is the hardest day of your life, and that you’re gasping for any sort of relief. but it will pass. and you will wake up the next day and watch the steam from your coffee catch in the sunlight, and you will move forward. you will be courageous. you are courageous.
Ur 20s are for skipping meals and doing every possible thing to survive and barely skimming by
When Mary Shelley said - 'At the age of twenty-six, I am in the condition of an aged person. All my old friends are gone. I have no wish to form new. I cling to the few remaining; but they slide away, and my heart fails when I think by how few ties I hold to the world.' - I felt that.
I think I'm going through a massive period of personal growth right now. I've gotten to a place which allows me to be completely selfish with my time, focus and devote all my energy in ways that will directly effect my future. I'm getting to the place in my life where I really decide what life I'm going to lead. With every opportunity I take up, every adventure and event outside my comfort zone I say yes to... Who I decide to devote my energy to and who doesn't align with the life I'm going to lead. There's no more half-assed relationships in my life, the people I say yes to and who say yes to me back get 100%.
Now is the time I get to decide who I really am.
You will ruin your 20s by feeling like you are behind, like everyone else has figured themselves out while you are still lost, instead of realising that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
