Listen/purchase: lit et toi by Yuètù
Another chapter of Seed Story is here! I wanted to ask this poll again!
Which Divine Beast do you like best?
Stollenwurm (Lion)
Lykaon (Wolf)
Simurgh (Bird)
Yuetu (Rabbit)
Svaðilfari (Horse)
Lutīyā (Turtle)
Vote based on whatever reason!
Whether you like that one's personality, their design, maybe you like their gameplay, even choose based on the animal alone! Whatever your reason, just choose your favourite!
The last time I asked this poll, there was 44votes and Lykaon and Yuetu had tied, but now that ENG CotC has Seed Story and we know all 6 of them, maybe those results will change?
The Jade Rabbit aka YuTu
I decided to design Chang’E little moon companion for... reasons you’ll find out later.
A bit about them (please note that, as of the time I’m writing this, I have yet to watch Season 3 of LMK): - Female presenting nonbinary rabbit! - Get's called 'Yuè Tù' (Moon Rabbit) by people who don’t personally know them, and 'Yù Tù' (Jade Rabbit) by friends and family - The embodiment of "FIGHT ME" - Looks like a cinnamon roll, could actually kill you - Becomes really professional when making medicine/taking care of a patience, almost looks like a different person altogether - Likes baking, but it's more of a hobby - They hate mooncakes because that's all they ate while on the moon, their favorite food is pumpkin - The Rabbit is really good with children, but not in the same way Wukong is. You look at them talking with children and you think of a teacher in an elementary school - They are not stuck on the Moon, like Chang’E, and can get off of it when they want to. Which makes them the designated person who always buys things for the goddess when visiting Earth or Heaven. - They are headstrong and don't back down easily, whether it's a fight or a discussion - A bit of a workaholic
Chang'e: why are you still up?! It's like 4 am Jade: We're on the moon TIME IS AN ILLUSION HERE Chang'E: JUST GO TO SLEEP
Welp, I might as well share these crackships now I guess
PeachCake ( Sun Wukong X Jade Rabbit)
The Jade Rabbit is so strong no man nor woman has ever bested them. Until Sun Wukong And then everything went downhill from there.
Jade "you are so cool let me fight you" Rabbit Sun "It's cute how hard you're trying" Wukong
Chang’E is having a blast during all of this btw, this is the most entertainment she got in centuries.
Yue Tu the moment Wukong, MK and his friends set foot on the Moon: heavy flirting Wukong: actually flustered for once
Also, after JTTW the two of them did keep in contact over the centuries through letters. They just sent letters to one another every weekend talking about different things and even giving each other advice for like fighting or baking. Until the letters Jade sent started to come back with no answer. After all, news doesn't travel fast to the moon
ShadowHare (Six Eared Macaque X Jade Rabbit)
Macaque and the Jade Rabbit bond over getting their asses kicked by Wukong and decide to train together (also because Macaque needed a place where he could lick his wounds, and what better place than the moon)
Macaque quickly finds out that Jade never saw a shadow play, he takes that as a personal insult, so he puts up one for them (obviously about the rabbit’s story)
Macaque also goes to the moon to keep Jade company but he keeps coming up with the dumbest reasons like
Macaque: I couldn't find this very specific flavor of medicine, can you make it for me? Jade: *knows dang well that flavor is the most common one in existence*
Macaque is also touch starved as hell which becomes extremely funny when you think that he went to the moon to recover from his wounds but did not expect Yutu to actually try to touch him even though "I AM A DOCTOR AND YOU ARE INJURED WHAT DID YOU EXPECT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!?"
Also, the strongest contrast between the two ships would be that, Macaque constantly asks for new kinds of medicine even tho he doesn't need them, while Wukong insists he doesn't need any even when he does and Yutu has to constantly threaten him.
There's also the way they show affection, because with the PeachCake ship, more often than not Jade will ask Wukong to fight (listen, they like to see those muscles working alright). But with the ShadowHere ship, Macaque is the one who goes to seek affection, but he's just so fucking dumb about it and it's so painfully obvious too.
Pulling up a chair please tell us about Yuetu and Hymn
hi sorry i hit a. mild slump but i very happily will thank you
Hymn is the Caterpillar, and was also one of the first spirits. from the 1920s, she was the town's psychic and girlfriend to [ALICE], before she was killed from a mob after the disappearance of the family + the death of [ALICE] in the clocktower after her claims of something terrible happening was dismissed before being turned against her. until the more er uh. performative or volatile states of the other spirits, Hymn is more lax and unimpressed, carrying an air of grief and bittersweet, still simmering rage that follows her like the smoke. she has inspiration from Anya (Mouthwashing) and Sarah Fier (Fear Street)- I really really wanted to lean more into the theming around feminine grief and rage/frustration, and a lot of that goes into Hymn! (Amaryllis is a close follow up lol)
Yuetu, or the white rabbit, has a simpler story- coming from the 1940s, and war world II, Yuetu was a child who had ran away from their family, seemingly trying to find a way to hide from tragedy or to find a way to help- they were never found. very similar to the white rabbit, Yuetu is INCREDIBLY jittery but scarred from all the grimness theyve seen from the world, taking inspiration from Majora's Mask's Link and Mono (Little Nightmares II). a little detail I like is that you'll often see Yuetu clinging to the sleeve of Hymn or Carnnia. (also, a fun little detail is while the white rabbit led Alice into wonderland, Yuetu leads people to [ALICE] in amiw :))
