30 Days Digi-Art Challenge | Bonus Round 4: Future
Looking forward to it!
Well i'm about to finish Digimon Story Time Stranger (i'm in the final dungeon, doing optional quests)
HEAVY SPOILERS (but not explicit, i'm trying to be vague, more or less)
Being Dan Yuki is suffering. Damn. I can't highlight enough how heartbreaking is to consider everything he went through during the second half of the game and especially during the last parts (like, the last 25% of the main story more or less?) with all the events and shocking reveals. If you did care about him at least a bit, spent a while thinking about his past and possible personality, invested emotionally into him and his relationship with Inori and Aegiomon... from a character and narrative point of view, it's brutal.
It's absolutely devastating how much was he gaslighted, lied to, manipulated and used by superior forces just for their convenience, with no regards at all about what his feelings could be. Feelings that are completely invalidated. Stripped of all his agency, and basically forced into decisions without any other option but to sadly resign himself and accept the role he was given to. And what is even worse for me is that absolutely NO ONE in the game cares. It's so, so CRUEL.
He is a silent protagonist that barely talks in the whole story, only being able to choose some options from time to time, but from his facial expressions and his interactions with others, with the Operator, and with Inori and Aegiomon, you can have a reading of some endearing aspects of his personality and wishes that makes things more hellish when the final part of the story kickstarts.
(By the way, if someone is reading this without reaching that point, just so you can prepare, know that Marsmon will be your final "rest" before reaching that... and then... bye comfort. Hello massive amounts of angst! And it will only get worse!!)
I wish Dan wasn't a silent protagonist. Because I just know he would have heartbreaking breakdowns and cry again and again during the late parts of the game as his whole life slowly but certaintly collapse.
Not a fan either of how the final part reduced Inori to just a plot device with no voice or presence at all.
I'll be more explicit in other posts. To sum up...
Dan Yuki deserved way better.

I am enjoying Time Stranger way too much
I might be the only one who thinks this, but I found the fact that everyone kept insulting/bringing up the Agents outfit very amusing.
It kept being brought up, maybe more than it should have, but I love continuous jokes like these in stories and smile to myself every time a character brings up the Agents outfit.
On the other hand, the constant mentioning of Dr. Yuki, who is dead but is also our adoptive father who is dead, was not fun(i finished time stranger btw, so iykyk but this still wasn't cool)
Position the Agent just right, and Digimon Story: Time Stranger already has a decent "photo mode".
