Headcanon: Due to their past, neither Zarya or Piper like sleeping on the ground.

When I first saw Piper’s bed, I didn’t think much of it. After all, Piper is very athletic and doesn’t think thing through, so I can see her thinking that a high bed looks cool. However, part of me wonders why that high of a bed interested Piper, and why no one talked Piper out of it despite clear drawbacks. This made me realize that Piper isn’t the only one with a bed off the ground. 

Zarya has a hammock that she sleeps in. While this suits her tough personality and she’s likely not being used to an actual bed, a mattress on the ground or a sleeping bag would have fit to. It may have actually fit more, as a hammock requires places to hang it, where you could put a sleeping bag or mattress anywhere. Choko’s bed is also seen off the ground, as seen in “Game of Phones”. 

I don’t think that either one’s just a coincidence. Considering how different the bedrooms are to each other, as well as the fact that we see Arkayna using her powers to decorate her room, I believe that they were able to design the rooms however they want. This makes me think that Zarya and Piper both have beds off the ground for a reason.

What I think is likely is that, wherever they lived before the stronghold, it was a bad idea to sleep on the ground. Whatever it is, I don’t think it damaged objects, as they don’t seem to mind objects on the ground. This ruled out flooding for me, as they would likely not want objects destroyed by water. 

 My best guess would be that some kind of bug often got in, and bites from it would have an adverse effect. If the bugs didn’t climb, then Zarya’s hammock would be safe, as the bugs wouldn’t have been able to climb on the walls/posts the hammock was attached to in order to get to Zarya. Objects would also be safe, as the bugs wouldn’t climb on them. They likely didn’t have actual beds, so they had to make do with what they had. So, Zarya and Piper got used to sleeping off the ground due to necessity, which carried over to the stronghold.

When the Mysticons have a bad dream

ARKAYNA: She typically has bad dreams about losing family. She makes herself a glass of warm milk while reassuring herself that her family’s alright by thinking about the last time she saw them. 

EM: She generally has bad dreams about people seeing her as a failure (normally by having people say that Mysticon Knight is useless, clumsy, etc.) She usually works on her inventions until she’s calmed down. 

ZARYA: She typically has bad dreams about losing Piper. She uses her stealth skills to check on Piper without her knowing. 

PIPER: She typically has bad dreams about being alone. She used to always go to Zarya, but as she’s growing up, she’s starting to manage bad dreams on her own (as long as it wasn’t too frightening and she has a stuffed toy).

Random Headcanons

Here are some headcannons that I don’t think deserve their own post, but I want to write anyway. 

* After the events of “Happily Never After”, Snellson gave each of the Mysticons a library card to the library of the Eternal Equinox. Em immediately checked out the book written by the Hammer of Harmon, while Piper found a scary book. 

* Piper’s interest in scary stories came from Zarya. When Piper couldn’t sleep, Zarya thought that a story would help, and since she liked scary stories, it was easy for Zarya to think of one. 

* Queen Goodfey and King Darius became more focused on Gawayne’s training, as they realized that he was not ready to rule, but he’s next in line to the throne due to his age. 

* Queen Goodfey doesn’t want either Zarya or Arkayna to be Queen, simply because she thinks that being queen and a Mysticon would be too much for them, and she wants them to enjoy being teens. However, if either one had to be queen, she knows that either of them would be a good ruler. 

* Zarya hopes that a mission never takes them to the remains of her old village, as she isn’t sure how she would handle seeing it.

* Em keeps her promise to visit her parents more often, and frequently goes to Rudick’s Hollow. The other Mysticons respect the visits, only calling her if absolutely necessary.

The Mysticons’ and Proxima’s favourite and least favourite subjects

Sorry if I have done a post about their favourite subjects before, and in case I have, I’m also including their least favourite subject.

Arkayna: Her favourite subject is Social Studies because she feels as though it’s important. Her least favourite subject is Art, because it can get messy. 

Zarya: Her favourite subject is Gym because she likes sports.  Her least favourite subject is Social Studies, because she doesn’t care about what people did in the past. 

Em: Her favourite subject is Science (either Biology or Physics) because she likes figuring things out. Her least favourite subject is Gym, because she’s not good at cardio. 

Piper: Her favourite subject is Art, because she likes being creative. Her least favourite subject is Math, because she finds it boring. 

Proxima: Her favourite subject is Math, because she sees it as a puzzle that leads to one right answer. Like Em, her least favourite subject is Gym, because she feels awkward in that class.

The Mysticon’s secret identities being revealed

One thing that I wish we saw more of are the effects of the secret identities being revealed in “Game of Phones”. Here are some thoughts about what I think would happen. 

* Piper would love it, as she wouldn’t mind the attention. She would be known for either waving or making funny faces at the camera if they were recorded after a mission. 

* Em would be a little self-conscious about the attention, and feel awkward in front of a camera. However, she would hope that she inspires other girls to believe in themselves. 

* Zarya wouldn’t care either way about the attention, as long as it doesn’t get out of hand (she wouldn’t like clingy fans). Her story would bring awareness about the problems the kids in the undercity face. 

* Being known would be difficult for Arkayna. She liked that no one knew who she was as Mysticon Dragon Mage, so she could have a break from being the princess. However, she does accept her newfound fame when she realized that to her friends, she was just a regular teenage girl. 

* They would still have to be careful about what they say, as they would not want to give information that people can use against them, such was where they live. 

* This would allow for more characters to appear, as they are reacting to the news. While there could be allies (I wrote a post about Piper meeting her grandfather), there could also be villains who have a specific Mysticon to seek revenge on (perhaps someone related to Piper’s past and why she’s an orphan).

Why no one helped Zarya’s village (Warning: This is fairly dark)

Captain Kaos knew that he could easily be arrested if he wasn’t careful. Therefore, every part of his plan was created to ensure that officials had as little chance of finding him as possible, which worked. 

First, he choose a small village far away from Drake City. He knew that a larger place or somewhere close to a large city (especially Drake City) would cause more outrage. 

Second, he ensured that the raid was quick, and that no one escaped. If people escaped, they would be able to tell others what happened. He also wanted the raid to be quick, so no one notices until it’s too late. 

Third, he ensured that when he took people to work for him (so he had a crew to help him) he only took children. He believed that children know less about how the world works, and therefore would have a more difficult time getting help. 

By the time people from outside the village knew what happened, the village was in ruins and there was no sign that anyone escaped alive. Drake city officials tried to find the culprit, but since Captain Kaos was careful about not leaving anything behind, there were no clues connecting him to the crime. 

Captain Kaos was careful about who his crew interacted with, as he was worried that one of them would reveal the incident. He limited their interactions with outsiders, and used threats in order to ensure that they only said what Captain Kaos wanted them to say. He also made it seem that the reason no one was looking for them was because they don’t care, and eventually, the Pink Skulls believed that lie. This made them reluctant to open up to others, as they assume that people may suspect that they were kidnapped, but don’t care. 

Over time, stories about the raided village died down, and eventually, this led Drake City to stop supporting efforts in hunting down the culprit, as it was going on for a while without success. People slowly began to forget about the story, and the Pink Skulls completely gave up on getting help, so they didn’t tell anyone.

What if Zarya and Piper weren’t Mysticons?

NOTE: I did a similar post for Em and Arkayna, as I explored what would happen to their friendship. This is also based on if they were never mysticons, so although “Edge of Two Morrows” explored the idea of not being Mysticons, this is going to be different. 

Zarya and Piper wouldn’t make the illusion Dragon Disk, as Dreadbane would manage to steal the original, and I believe they made it after escaping the castle. They would try to pass something off as the Dragon Disk, but won’t be able to escape. As Em and Arkayna wouldn’t be Mysticons either, Zarya and Piper wouldn’t be saved. Zarya would tell her that Dreadbane has it. Tazma would release Zarya and Piper, but would keep Choko until Zarya and Piper steals the Dragon Disk from Dreadbane. To help, Tazma would tell Zarya and Piper where Dreadbane’s lair is. 

They would try once, but are seen quickly and barely escape. As they regroup and steal more smokescreens, Piper would see how much Zarya misses Choko. She would sneak off in the middle of the night to try to steal the Dragon Disk back one more time. 

While in Dreadbane’s lair, Piper would stumble into Tazma’s bedroom, where Choko is being held. She would immediately change her plans, saving Choko and bringing back the Disk. However, Tazma would see and chase Piper. She would get Dreadbane to help, stating that Piper is trying to steal the Dragon Disk. 

Meanwhile, Zarya would wake up, and see that Piper is gone. Zarya would realize what has happened and rush to save Piper. She would get there just in time to see Piper and Choko cornered, and saves them, using a smoke screen. 

They would barely escape, and return to their difficult life in the undercity. On top of that, the incident will leave both of them shaken up. Zarya wouldn’t believe that she came close to losing Piper, and Piper would wonder if she’s a burden on Zarya, as Zarya had to save her.

Did Zarya Know She Was Adopted?

I’ve seen fanfiction where Zarya both knew and didn’t know that she was adopted. This made me think about which one I believe. I think that Zarya didn’t know she was adopted. My three reasons for this is her value on family, her confrontational personality, and lack of interest in orphanages. 

Despite acting like a lone wolf, Zarya does seem to care about family. This is shown in episode 6, as she loved being with Em’s family (despite her attempts to hide it). She also treats Piper as her family and was happy to learn that she was Arkayna’s twin, further showing the fact that she values family. Because of this, it makes sense that if Zarya knew that she was adopted, she would search for her birth parents. 

The second piece of evidence is related to the first point. If she feels at though her birth parents abandoned her, she would want answers. So, I imagine that she would want to find her birth parents to confront them. 

The third piece of evidence is the fact that she didn’t seem to care about going to an orphanage. If she did know she was adopted, she would at least show some emotions about going into an orphanage, if not searching for her own parents or remembering something about the orphanage.
