So I didn’t have one (I had a sentence and an idea), buttttt for you I wrote one 💛 But first, my rant:
The name is a bit misleading? It's not supposed to be, but it's the best I had, sorry! It's a spiritual sequel to Signs of Life (not an actual sequel, no, because I'm not allowed any more multi-chapters until I finish my current set). In the definitely-not-a-prequel, Jack asks if he can join Robby for a week or two while Robby's on his trip. Robby agrees provided Jack packs light and is cool with a vibes-based agenda.
So "zoom therapy" is Jack joining his Robby on his post-S2 moto-trip for a week in beautiful Utah, where they can appreciate nature's splendor and the ever-loud wind noises you get while riding a motorcycle. And, yaknow, each other.
Now, the requested excerpt:
“What’s… this place called?” Jack asked, delaying the words a bit so the bluetooth headset wouldn’t cut it off.
“Harper’s corner. Supposed to be a good view,” came the staticky reply.
The view to the right was mostly flowering rabbitbrush and bright green junipers, then a clear dropoff based on the distant plateau. Every once in awhile he got a glimpse of the cliff, how close they were to the edge of the world. Jack wrapped his arms tighter around Robby’s waist and tried to silence the worry in his mind. They were wrapping up an excellent couple days, and they had more planned, so there was really no reason to worry.
Robby pulled into the small, empty parking lot, kicked up the kickstand and got off. Jack scooted forward and swung his leg over so he could use the seat as a bench. He unzipped his overpants and put on his leg. “How long’s this hike?”
“Not long. Mile out and another back.”
“And we gotta do it at sunset?”
“So I’ve been told.”
They transformed from motorcyclists to hikers in a few minutes, chucking some water, bars, and some cans of beer into Robby’s little hiking bag, because apparently beer, sunsets, and cliff-top trails went well together. With wordless agreement, they started down the trail.
working from home this morning, waiting for a client to join. this afternoon is the holiday party for mental health services (postponed from december due to snowstorm.) we’re having a curling lesson! therapists on ice, this should be interesting. i’m pretty excited about it.
Wrote this down while staring at my reflection, not taking my eyes off the screen, staring at what others are seeing on this virtual group.
At least during the in person groups I’m not reminded of my appearance. I know there’s a way to not see my screen but then I’d just be anxious that I was making my appearance worse and not in control of how I want to be perceived.
Peak ADHD today: groping around my coffee table for things to fidget with during zoom therapy and mindlessly picking up the manual for my new sex toy and holding it right up to the camera while I idly flipped through it.
