One small moment I always loved in ATLA, is when Sokka asks if Mai is the gloomy girl who’s always sighing and Zuko says, “yeah” all softly with a smile; like he genuinely finds that to be a truly endearing and lovely trait of hers.

I don’t know - I just always found that moment to be super cute and sweet.

Mai may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but she certainly is Zuko’s and that’s what love is all about.

One thing I hate about some Zutara fans is how they make it all about Aang and Katara

“Oh he’s like her little brother”

“She never saw him romantically”

“Zuko understands her more”

Which ok fine, if you ship it you ship it BUT they forget one important part.

ZUKO LOVES MAI

There are two people in Zutara but most fans only focus on Kataras side of things, they forget Zuko wasn’t some single guy pining over her. He had a girlfriend who he really cared about.

And some Mai antis think she’s emotionless and doesn’t care about Zuko. Or they hate the fact that she was on Azulas side or that she “Can’t relate to him”. Well you know who doesn’t think all that? ZUKO

The Zuko redemption arc made people forget that he wasn’t with Mai out of obligation or for his honor, he liked being with her. Zuko may be a good guy now but he’s still a little freak who loves his gloomy gf
