The flood of agents eventually die down, but only because it's migrating over to another base. One you thought was a secret, the underground base treated as if it was a bunker. The agents wreak havoc, digging through defenses like moles, adrenaline and determination fueling several alternate dimension Agent Phoenix's, along with a few other agents you are familiar with, and some you aren't. The fight is even bigger this time, a dust cloud appearing on the surface as agents scrap with all their teeth swords, lighters, some wielding grenades, others waving guns around like party streamers ready for bloodshed. The operatives are well trained, but there's at least a dozen adrenaline fueled agents swarming the place. And considering it usually only takes one to destroy whole factories and schemes, they do some serious damage.

Amongst the chaos, two agents slip through the entrance, blending into the shadows, barely a blip on the radar. They sneak through the levels of the base, and eventually manage to hack into the holding cells. No attempt to divert attention to the moles inside base work, as most operatives have had their earpieces smashed to bits in the fight. And not too many minutes later, an override appears on the computer, and a swarm starts to pour out from the bottom layer of the base, slowly rising upwards as the battle above ground raged on.

[Another instance of Roz’s voice rings across the intercom.]

“Ah, Agents, how unexpected! And by unexpected, I mean COMPLETELY EXPECTED! You may not be susceptible to moles, but did you prepare for… ACTUAL MOLES?!”

[Roz laughs maniacally, and the ground beneath the agents’ feet rumbles as giant mind-controlled battle-moles tear up the ground and begin their attack, making any attempt at fighting back difficult.]

“yujinnn hurry up, we are going to be so late.” you groaned as you rolled around on the bed.

“beauty takes time, y/n!” he yelled from the bathroom, slapping serum onto his face.

you loved how much your boyfriend paid attention to taking care of his skin, most boys your age don’t do that. but it gets frustrating sometimes, especially when he does all his tasks at the speed of a turtle and you guys are certainly going to be late for your movie.

“yujin, need i remind you this is exactly how we were an hour late for spiderman? We enter the theatre and suddenly there’s an indian spiderman with awesome hair yelling about tea to like 5 other spidermans. i wanted to laugh but i didn’t understand why i was laughing,” you whine, trying to control yourself from screaming into a pillow.

yujin rolled his eyes as he exited the bathroom.

“calm down, i’m ready.” he did a little twirl. “how do i look?”

“exactly the same as you did 20 minutes ago.”

“ouch.” 

after around 10 minutes of yujin insisting that he does indeed look different than before he did his skincare, you guys ran out of his house and got in the car.

“what took you guys so long?” yujin’s dad asks, as he starts the car engine.

“yujin was trying to look pretty” you deadpanned, earning a scoff from the latter.

“i don’t have to try, i AM pretty.”

you and his dad laughed at him. eventually, the laughter died down and his dad drove you guys to the theatre. 

you always felt sleepy in cars. or just any vehicle. you slowly start to fall asleep, your head dangling sideways when suddenly, you feel a hand on your head, slowly guiding you to a warm shoulder. you sneak a peak and find yujin staring at you while his hand is patting your head.

“do i look like a dog to you? why are you patting my head?” you asked him. 

he blushed. “shut up and go to sleep.” you giggled and held his hand, falling asleep.

around 20 minutes later you guys reached the theatre. yujin woke you up (after lots of protests) and you guys ran inside, showing your tickets at the front desk. you walked into the theatre, and no surprise, you were late. as in, late late.

you glared at yujin who just smiled at you sheepishly. you took your seats as you tried to decipher the plotline so far. trust me, it was hard. so far it was just ken yelling “patriarchy!” over and over again.

after the movie was over (along with both of you googling the plotline to understand the whole film), yujin could not shut up.

“i swear y/n, ken is my true calling i’m telling yo- STOP LAUGHING AT ME!”

you just continued laughing anyway because you are a menace <3. after walking around for a while, you spotted something. you pulled him by the sleeve.

“what the hel- are you kidnapping me????” he asked frantically, fear evident in his eyes. you rolled your eyes before pointing to a booth. a photobooth. ohh.

both of you entered the booth and paid the money.

In the first photo, yujin has his arm around your shoulder, as both of you hold up a ‘V’ sign. In the second photo, yujin has a wide smile on his face while you pout (the hatred i have for this word…)  as he uses your head as an armrest. In the third photo, you give yujin a kiss on the cheek. In the fourth photo, he gives you a kiss on the cheek. 

both of you exit the booth, laughing and giggling at all the photos you took.

yujin’s dad waits for you guys outside the mall, a small smile appearing on his face looking at the two of you.

“how was the movie?” was the first question he asked when you got into the car. 

“feminism is my religion.” yujin stated, looking proud of himself, while you facepalmed and his dad suppressed a giggle.

“thats not how it works- you know what? i’m not even gonna try.”

– time skip to your house –

“thank you so much for dropping me, mr.han!” you thank his dad, who simply smiles and salutes at you. yujin exits the car and holds your hand, leading you to the door.

“i know this whole day was chaotic and messy, but i had fun.” you said to him sweetly.

“obviously, you spent the whole day with ME.” he stated proudly, while you deadpanned at him. 

“for real though, i had loads of fun too. everything is loads of fun with you,” he told you shyly, with a hand on his neck while you smiled uncontrollably. you were going to kiss his cheek, when the sound of his dad's honk interrupted the moment. 

“get a room!”

Winter break was finally coming to an end, which meant you would be reunited with your tender and sweet boyfriend Gyuvin. The both of you hadn’t seen each other since the end of college semester, a couple of weeks ago, as both of you decided to head home for the winter break to spend time with your respective families. Unfortunately, both of your schedules were really busy during the break, and never seemed to align, meaning you were both starved of affection.  At the beginning of your relationship with the giant puppy-like man, you more often than not avoided his sometimes overwhelming moments of affection. However now, no matter how much you tried to tell yourself that you dislike his affection, you can't help but realise how much you missed it when he wasn't around.  When the first day of spring semester finally came around, you were practically running out your house with excitement to see your boyfriend. You both had agreed to meet at the local café after you finished your classes that day. Gyuvin was lucky, he didn't have any classes that day but he still longed to see you after a three week long separation. In all honesty, your classes couldn't have dragged any longer than they did, but before you knew it, your professor took their leave, signalling your class was finally over. You've never ran out of the classroom so quick in your life, at this point desperate to see your loving boyfriend. Luckily for you, the café was only down the road from where your last class of the day was, and Gyuvin had already messaged you to tell you he was already there, and more specifically whereabouts in the café he was sat. He had managed to snag the quaint corner sofa in the back corner of the café which was almost always quiet whenever you guys went. Upon entering the café, you didn't even bother to order your usual drink, instead you headed over to the corner where your boyfriend had been waiting patiently for you. Upon seeing his slightly disheveled mop of chestnut hair peeking over the back of the couch where he sat, back towards the door you just entered, you scurried over to where he was, arms wrapping around his neck from behind, almost choking the poor man. At first he jumped in surprise at your ambush attack on his poor unsuspecting soul but almost immediately, when he realised it was you, he shot up from his seat, and wrapped his arms tightly around your waist. His head burrowed into the crook of your neck, inhaling signature perfume which always brought him comfort on his most stressful days.

it was another instance where you and taerae were left alone in a room together. you hated these times because of how you felt towards him. you could never work up the courage to talk to him while he would do whatever. for the both of you, it was awkward silence.

i don't need reminders of how you don't feel the same

everytime taerae smiled at you, with that stupid, amazing, wide, bright smile, you wanted to scream. everytime he flashed that smile at you, once you got past the part where you mindlessly yell in your head, you thought about how he smiled at everyone. he wasn’t into you like you were into him.

when you were hanging out together with friends, taerae would always talk about his girlfriend. it was like he would purposely yell it directly in your ear to make you jealous. you wanted to meet this girl who he described as “so amazing at everything she does!”

every day, you daydreamed that he would run to your house in the rain. he would bang at your door, drenched in water. you would open the door to see him, and he would rant about how he just broke up with his girlfriend because he realized that he couldn't lie about his feelings anymore and how he loved you the entire time and then he would go in for the kiss.

“hey (y/n), what are you thinking about?” taerae said, snapping you out of your daydream. the two of you were hanging out. in fact, it was the first time in a few months. he was looking at you through his disgustingly adorable glasses, with his signature shining smile.

“that i could go for a bite..” you said quickly, which wasn’t a complete lie. you were a bit hungry.

“honestly, me too.. wanna get lunch?” taerae asked innocently.

it would be absolutely foolish of you to say yes. practically insane! but before your brain even processed this, your mouth started to move.

“i would love to have lunch with you!” you said cheerfully.

“oh great another awkward lunch date with him,” you thought to yourself.

shortly after though, you gained some resolve. if nothing was going to happen, why bother even trying to like him. of course, it was much much much easier said than done, but you weren’t going to let your unrequited love for taerae determine your relationship with him.

even if he would never date you, it would be alright.

it was time for your lunch date with taerae. you had spent some of the time getting ready, but most of it was trying to shove your feelings for him even further down than they already were.

taerae honked at your door and you exited your home, preparing for what would most likely be a hard night.

the car ride was actually quite bearable, all things considered. sure there were moments of silence, but the two of you mostly bonded like you used to. you were doing a good job at hiding your feelings.

the two of you actually managed to talk for the whole lunch and even managed to get a few photos together. it was now right after lunch, you and taerae were outside the restaurant.

taerae looked at you and gave you his million dollar smile, “thanks for today! i had a really great time.”

you smiled back at him, “yeah i also had a really great time! do you wanna do this again sometime?”

“of course!”

the two of you locked eyes, before taerae pulled you into a hug. “i had a really good time (y/n), it feels like forever since we’ve talked like that.”

and that was all it took for all your feelings to come rushing back to the surface. it hit you fast that you couldn’t be “just friends” with him. it hurt too much to hear him talk about his girlfriend, to not be the one that holds him.

you softly pulled away from the hug. “taerae.. i can’t do this anymore.”

he had an expression that was a mix of confusion and concern. “what do you mean?”

confess i loved you

your eyes darted nervously, before your mouth opened to confess your thoughts, “taerae, i’ve liked you for so long, and i can't just be friends with you. i tried so hard to accept that you were dating this girl, but it hurt to hear you talk about her. i wanted to be her, desperately. and i could never explain this to you! i didn't want to completely shatter our relationship!” your eyes locked on his eyes.

as you prepared to get shot down you saw his priceless smile.

“(y/n).. i broke up with her a month ago. i broke up with her because i realized that.. that, i was in love with you. i've wanted to tell you for so long, but i thought that you wouldn’t feel the same.”

your lips were just slightly parted, surprised by the information you just received.

taerae grabbed your hands, wrapping his hand around your fingers and holding them out in front of you. “i would love it if we could hang out sometime? as not friends.”

just thinking of you

you closed your mouth before grinning, “does this mean you’ll be my boyfriend, kim taerae?”

he let go of your hands before interlocking your fingers with each other. he kissed your forehead before saying, “of course, boyfriend.”

you were practically jumping up and down when you gave him the biggest smile you could physically create.

“well then will you drive me home, boyfriend?” you asked, a hint of sarcasm in your tone.

“what kind of a boyfriend would i be if i didn't?” he replied back, also joking.

the two of you hurriedly went back to taerae’s car, speeding back home.

i know i've loved you from the start.
