i think it means like. in the source engine they had to program gravity and they had to give the player a weight that would feel realistic when they fell or interacted with physics objects.

so if they gave the player too heavy a weight to account for the HEV, it would feel odd to the player, especially since physics that yiu could interact with was something pretty new, so they just chose an average weight (or did some math idk)

half life canon is fake and not real*, but according to the seesaw physics puzzle in the retail game, gordon weighs roughly the same amount as 8 cinder blocks. that’s with his suit, a crowbar, and a pistol.

crowbar = 15ish = 305lbs

Pistol: 1-2 lbs = 304lbs

A standard bodysuit for a 6’2 man would require about 3yd x 42” of fabric. Most of the HEV isn’t a full bodysuit + that doesn’t account for cutting things down so I’ll round that down to 3sq yards.

1sq yards of carbon fiber/epoxy composite (my best guess for the outermost shell) at 6-10mm thick is approx. 15lbs, times 3 is 45 lbs =259

The HEV has some bulletproofing. I’m lazy I’m gonna say it’s Kevlar. It’s hard to buy Kevlar in the correct thickness wholesale, but it’s about 4-5lbs/sq yd, x3 = 15 lbs =244

I feel like the fabric-looking parts of the suit are something like Dyneema, which is like 2 lbs for 3sq yd at the correct thickness. =243

The suit has a bunch of dumb stuff I don’t want to Google and tally up. I’ll say the speaker systems, nerve detection tech, morphine, the HEV batteries, and everything else I forgot are probably an extra 15lbs. =228lbs

Which puts Gordon at a pretty normal weight for a 6’2 man.

However! If all together he really is 187lbs, and the suit is 76 (based on the estimating I did), then mr. Freeman is 111lbs! You can and will snap him in half with minimal effort!
