Plot: Leon and you broke up 6 months ago, after two years of relationship. Surely you moved on, right?
Words: 3376
You were roaming the halls of the studio. Everywhere you looked students were practicing to achieve their dreams. It didn´t matter if they danced, sang, or composed new music, they were working with passion.
You walked through the door into the auditorium where your friends were talking about the show you had to prepare.
“We have to work on the song, it still needs some changes”, Maxi said. He wasn´t happy with his song just yet. You knew he was still searching for the special extra, the smallest change so it would feel complete.
“The group dance isn´t finished either and we´re not going to start talking about the solo dance part of Violetta.” Camilla was clearly stressed, gesturing wildly with her hands while counting the things that needed to get done.
“Y/N, have you finished the duet?” Everyone suddenly looked at you, their attention settling on you and their hopeful glances were about to get crushed by your admittance. “Not even close. I can´t seem to find the right melody, and don´t let me start on the lyrics”, you huffed, sitting down on the stage. Everyone groaned at that.
“Great, we´re done for. Pablo won´t be happy with our lack of progress”, Francesca said. A heavy silence settled over you, everyone feeling down for not exceeding their expectations. You couldn´t dwell on your failure for long as the others walked into the room, followed by Pablo who started the class. When he asked about the progress on the show, he was met with an awkward silence.
“No one? Has nobody anything new to contribute to the show?”, he asked, looking incredulous at the students. You sat in the second row, so you saw how Ludmilla raised her hand, knowing what was about to come. “I´m so sorry Pablo, but I can´t work on a dance for the duet since I don´t have a song to work with.” Her voice was dripping with fake guilt, letting a scowl appear on your face.
“Is that true Y/N?” Your scowl vanished as soon as Pablo addressed you. You looked at your teacher, not knowing what to tell him. He raised his brows, expecting an answer from you. “I´m sorry Pablo, I don´t know why, but I’ve got problems with composing the song. I´m really working on it.” You were honest, normally you didn´t have any problems with composing any songs, no matter the topic, but this song threw you off.
“Maybe someone else should compose it since you are not able to do such a simple task.” Your blood was boiling with Ludmilla’s statement. She was such a snake. You knew she hated the fact that you were supposed to compose the final song of the show. Before you or anyone else could start an argument with her, Pablo intervened.
“I don´t think that will be necessary. Y/N composed great songs in the past and I believe she will do just fine with this song too. Y/N, if you need any help don´t hesitate to talk to me, we will find a way.” You smiled and nodded, grateful that Pablo believed in you.
The rest of the lesson was spent with the others talking about their progress, or lack thereof. You didn´t seem to be the only one with problems. All your friends struggled with their parts of the show. As Pablo closed the lesson you left the room as fast as possible. It was the last lesson for you, so you walked home.
You had an idea why you were struggling. You´re supposed to compose the duet for the finale. It was a love song, the main characters could finally be together, having overcome every problem they had to face. It was supposed to be happy, hopeful, and full of positive emotions. Normally you had no problem with composing love songs, having done so a lot in the past.
The problem was that the songs you composed in the past six months were never love songs. You didn´t wrote them any more since your breakup. You couldn´t put yourself in that mindset anymore. Your breakup was messy, things were said that would´ve better be left unsaid. In the end you couldn´t turn back time, having to live with the consequences and a broken relationship of two years. You could still recall the moment everything escalated.
You stormed through the halls of the studio. You couldn´t believe what you just witnessed. “Y/N! Wait!”, he shouted after you. You ignored him, walking straight ahead.
You were suddenly grabbed by the arm and pulled into the music room. When your mind caught up to what was happening, you ripped your hand out of his grip. “Do not touch me!”, you spat, glaring daggers at him. He stared intensely at you. “Alright, but you have to listen to me –“ You laughed, effectively disrupting him. “I don´t want to talk about it anymore.” Your voice carried a finality in it.
You saw his brow furrowing, confusion flickering on his face. “Y/N, there was nothing –“ “It didn´t look like nothing”, you interrupted him again. “I actually would say that you and her kissing is not nothing.” Leon was running his hand through his hair. It was clearly an act out of frustration. “I didn´t kiss her.”
You snorted. “I saw it, Leon. Why do you try to lie to me?” “Because she kissed me! I never wanted this”, he growled, his anger rising the longer the situation lasted. “So, you couldn´t have stopped her? Do you seriously think I’m that stupid?”, you asked him. His brown orbs were burning with frustration and anger.
It wasn´t the first time you two were arguing about something like this. Leon was a handsome guy, you knew that. It wasn´t uncommon that other girls were trying to gain his attention even though he was in a relationship. You tried to suppress your emotions. You tried to trust him, to not let it bother you when other girls were clearly trying to get more of him as they should. But you were only human after all, and with your Exes cheating on you and your dad leaving your mom for another woman, you were even more sensitive to such a topic. It didn´t help that you never told Leon about these things, so he didn´t know how those things messed with your head and heart.
“You literally walked in the moment she already had her lips on me, I couldn´t react as fast as she saw you and backed off.” You just shook your head, looking away from him. You knew he was probably telling the truth, but your insecurities got the best of you.
“Maybe we have to accept the inevitable”, you said, your voice calm and calculated. As you looked at Leon you saw his confusion. “What are you talking about?” You faced him, your face not betraying the heartbreak you felt inside. “I´m talking about ending our relationship”, you said with force. He laughed a humorless laugh.
“Are you sure you want to go there? Just because of a kiss that meant nothing to me, and I never even wanted in the first place?” You stared at each other. You knew he was waiting for you to backpedal out of this. He loved you, you knew that, he told you every day.
“I thought I could trust you, but that´s clearly not the case. It doesn´t matter if she kissed you, you didn´t bother to stop her. I hope it was worth it, because you made it clear that you don´t love me and don´t want me as your girlfriend.” It was his time to snort. “You are unbelievable. You are ending our relationship over nothing. You are so fixated on this stupid kiss, don´t you think I know that you moved on for some time now?” Your eyes widened in shock.
“Don´t act so shocked, I’m not stupid either. I knew you acted different the past weeks, but there have to be two people willing to fix a relationship and you were clearly not willing to, so now you are taking the first opportunity to throw everything away and act as the victim.” Leon waited for your comeback, but it never came.
After some silent moments your voice was small as you said your final words, “There is nothing else to say, I guess.” Leon shook his head in disbelieve. “So, this was all it was to you? Nothing worth fighting for?” He huffed. “I never thought it could end up like this…” He trailed off, looking to the ground. “It was probably never meant to last”, you said as you left the room and left him standing there alone.
You lied. Your relationship was the best thing to ever happen to you. You felt loved and understood, accepted with all your ticks and faults. The only problem were your insecurities. This and the fact that other girls were constantly flirting with Leon and talking about how you never would be enough for him. Everything nagged at you and led to you snapping at this moment, saying things you never wanted or meant. But it was for the best. Leon could finally find someone who was worth it, who wasn´t as fucked up as you were.
You knew love wasn´t in your cards, so you tried to focus on your career. But since you struggled with the duet you felt like a complete failure. Coming home your mother greeted you.
“You seem to be feeling down, did something happen?”, she asked you, working on fixing you a warm cacao, something you always drunk if you were felling down. “I´m struggling to write the duet for the show”, you admitted. She hummed, working on the hot drink. “Have you got any idea why this might be?” You nodded, thanking her for the drink as she put it in front of you. “Then you know where to work from.” You furrowed your brow, thinking about the statement while you took your first sip. It only lasted a few seconds before you got an idea. You sat the drink down, standing up and walking to your room. “Thanks mom, you really helped me!”, you shouted. You knew what you had to do.
The next week was full of composing a song and the duet. As soon as you got the song finished you were able to write the duet. After finishing the first draft and being happy with it you went to Pablo and gave him the draft in a folder.
“Great, thank you Y/N. It finally worked out, even without my help.” You nodded, smiling at your teacher. “Yeah, my mom said something that helped me overcome my blockade.” He smiled. “That´s great. I´ve got another question, could we present one of your songs on YouMix? They want a song that people don´t already know and since everyone is working on the show, we only got a handful of unused songs.” You nodded.
“Of course, I guess Violetta will present the song?” Pablo nodded. “They will credit you before she´ll sing the song.” You shrugged. “Then it´s fine by me.” You looked at your watch, realizing how late it already was. “Sorry Pablo, I have to go. See you!”
You were all sitting in the auditorium a few days later, waiting for the presentation of the song to YouMix and the internet in a Live-Stream. Everyone was there, your teachers were standing at the side, you and your friends were sitting in the back. Maxi, Francesca and Camilla were sitting next to you, Ludmilla and Nati were sitting behind you, as were Leon and Diego.
“Welcome to another stream of the On Beat Studio here on YouMix. Today we will present you a new song by Y/N L/N, sung by non-other than Violetta!”, the commentator said before he left the stage. You knew it wouldn´t be a new song Violetta would sing, it would be an old one that everybody already knew except for YouMix. Violetta got ready in front of the microphone, the melody being prerecorded and getting played by the boxes.
As the melody started to play you were confused. At first you thought that it wasn´t a song of yours, but as the piano started to play you froze. They were presenting your new song, the song you wrote before you wrote the duet for the show. You didn´t even played the song, only composing it in your head as a draft, it wasn´t finished or approved by you.
How on earth did they get the notes of it? Then it hit you. You grabbed your back and pulled your folder out of it. Opening it you found the draft of the duet sitting inside. You gave Pablo the draft of the new song, not the duet. And as you agreed to this presentation, he couldn´t have known that the song wasn´t finished yet and shouldn´t be played publicly.
But it was too late now, Violetta was live on the internet, and she started to sing the first chords of the lyrics. You didn´t have another choice than to sit there and listen to your song and your heart getting laid open for everyone to hear.
Since your blockade for the duet were your feelings for Leon and the regret about your breakup you worked through them and put them in a song. It was revealing your insecurities and your regrets. As none of your friends knew how the two of you broke up, they couldn´t connect it directly to the situation, only with some thought, but Leon would be able to put two and two together.
As Violetta finished your song, you were full of dread. The song was amazing. She sang perfectly, everything was perfect and if the situation was any different you would be proud of yourself for composing a song without playing it in the process and hitting it off that amazingly, but all you wanted to do was run and never look back.
As soon as the cameras were off you bolted out of the room. You speedwalked through the halls of the studio, only one goal in mind. Escape.
“Y/N! Wait!”You heard Leon shouting after you. You ignored him, walking straight ahead. You were suddenly grabbed by the arm and pulled into the music room. You looked down, not moving as he let go of your arm and closed the door for some privacy.
“I think we need to talk”, he said agitated. The song clearly affected him, just as it affected you. But instead of wanting to clear things you wanted to vanish in thin air, not wanting to face Leon and to explain your feelings.
“I don´t want to talk about it”, you told him honestly with a small voice. You heard him huffing. “Of course you don´t want to talk, but we have to talk about what happened.” You shook your head. “Nothing happened-“ “It didn´t look like nothing”, he interrupted you.
“Actually, I would say you composing a song about our breakup and your feelings is not nothing.” Leon was running his hand through his hair. It was obviously an act out of frustration. You shook your head, feeling your eyes starting to burn and your breathing getting heavier.
“Do you really think I’m that stupid to not realize that the song is about me? Or better said about your feelings during our breakup?” He growled, his anger starting to spike through the frustration he was feeling. You shook your head again, felling a growing lump in your throat and tears threatening to escape. “You have to accept the inevitable. We are going to talk about this because it is something that involves me too!”
A sob suddenly ripped through your mouth, the tears finally escaping and running down your cheeks. You clamped your hands over your mouth as more sobs shook your body, the heartbreak and pain suddenly coming to the surface. You fell to your knees and curled in on yourself.
A few heartbeats passed as you felt warm hands cautiously touching you, softly stroking your back. You knew it was Leon who wanted to comfort you. You couldn´t control the sobs and the pain any longer. When you felt his warmth, you crashed into his embrace. Leon hugged you tightly to him, tucking your head against his neck.
The two of you sat on the ground in silence, waiting for you to calm down enough to talk. As you calmed down and only tears remained, Leon began to stroke your back again. A few minutes later he softly tucked you out of his embrace, settling you next to him so you could face each other.
“Can we talk?”, he asked you, his voice soft, no trace of the frustration or anger left. “Are you sure you want to go there?” You asked him, looking in his brown orbs. Your E/C eyes were red and swollen from crying. You didn´t feel ready to tell him how you felt. Leon put his hands on each side of your face, trying to wipe some remaining tears away. He looked you in the eyes, nodding.
“You can trust me. It´ll be worth it because I still love you and want you as my girlfriend. Please Y/N, talk to me.” “I´m sorry”, you sniffed. “I´m so sorry, Leon. You were the best thing to ever happen to me and I let my insecurities get in the way of it.” You started crying again. You felt him wiping away the few tears that rolled over your cheeks.
“I never moved on from you. My insecurities let me get more distanced from you because the good times we had couldn´t last, they were probably never meant to last.” He smiled sadly at you. “You really thought you were not good enough for me?”, he asked in a disbelieving voice. You didn´t answer.
“I couldn´t fix it. I just couldn´t. Everybody was wondering why you were even wasting your time on me. All the girls wanted you and constantly flirted with you. And on top of it all comes the fact that my Exes cheated on me, even my dad left my mom for a woman he cheated on my mom with. I couldn´t believe you really wanted me, I just wasn´t able too. No relationship was meant to last, so I couldn´t see myself fighting for it since it was clear to me that I would get hurt in the end. I´m so sorry.”
You tried to get out of his hold, but Leon didn´t let go of you. He followed you and put a soft kiss on your lips. “Why did you never tell me?” You shook your head. “I couldn´t imagine that you would understand. You couldn´t understand my problems, and we always argued about these things.”
He put his forehead against yours, his warm breath fanning over your face. “I´m sorry for thinking the worst about you, and the things I said when we broke up.” You shook your head. “I should´ve fought for it because our relationship was worth fighting for. I´m sorry I never did and took the easy way out. I was so scared to lose you because I love you.” Leon laughed.
“Do you know that this is the first time you ever told me you love me?” That let you smile too. You nodded. “Do you think we can fix it? Our relationship, if we give it another try?”, he asked hopefully. You gulped. “I don´t know. All I can promise you is that I’m willing to fix it.” His grin broke out in a breathtaking smile. His brown orbs sparkled with happiness. “I´m willing to fix it too. So, will you be my girlfriend again? With no secrets between us and more respect for the emotions of the other?” You laughed and broke out in a grin too. You nodded. Leon let his hand wander towards the back of your neck, tilting your head so he could kiss you passionately. As he broke the kiss, he mumbled something against your lips before he reconnected your lips. “I never thought it could end up like this.”
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
According to the updated timeline and the ages of the companions as stated by the SWTOR Encyclopedia our beloved companions are no longer as young as they used to be when we met them. About 13 years have past since the start of the class stories.
The companions above are sorted by year of birth. For some there is only an approximate year given. Blizz, Broonmark, Scorpio, M1-4X are not included for lack of data. For those with a ‘!’ wookieepedia states slightly different years of birth, that do not correlate with the ages given in the Encyclopedia.
Since I don’t have any months in these calculations, the actual year of birth as well as the age of a companion during current ingame events may differ slightly.
Theron is born in 3666, the same year as Raina. I still don’t have data on Lana.
(Note: Feel free to headcanon your companions as old as you want them to be.)

these are different things btw. actual adaptability means not dealing with being miserable long term. and being constantly mildly annoyed/frustrated with a situation but being “able to deal with it” counts as ambient misery. btw.
let this be your sign to make your life just a little more livable. get a dollar store trash can for your bedside so Cup City’s invasion plans fall through. block a tag or post that makes you grind your teeth every time you see it. get some grip pads so your bed stops sliding across the hardwood a little bit every time you get in it. tell that person you need a little more support. if you get annoyed at a situation more than a couple times, change it. don’t be content with being miserable.
and the more that you start doing this, the better you will get at detecting your own feelings and advocating for yourself! This is an important start to being more of a person in the world if you struggle with that
