hey folx! i’m launching a new queer & trans centric comic in September 2016.

what’s it about? it’s a queer romantic dramedy about a transguy who moves from Atlanta to Seattle in the fall of 2009 after graduating from university.

how can i read it? quinxy will be released in 4 parts, corresponding to each of the 4 seasons. each part will be released in its entirety, “full drop” style. it will be available for download via my Gumroad page and forthcoming Patreon.

why are you doing this? quinxy is inspired by my love of romcoms, tragedy-free queer romance, and desire to tell some of the stories i witnessed and experienced as a member of the queer youth community trying to make a living during the great recession.

so quinxy is autobio? nope! definitely not. quinxy’s story is very unique from my own. the characters in the story share elements of people who’ve been a part of my life (as well as some of my own experiences) but this is a brand new story. writing it has involved lots of research and careful contemplation.

why should i read quinxy? you should give quinxy a look if you enjoy: authentic queer youth characters whose lives do not revolve around their journey to coming out/transition. also there will be some cute animals.

is this your first multi-part comic? yes! this project is a challenge for me, but i’m dedicated to making it happen. i hope you’ll enjoy it!

Happy Saturday! here's a #recipe for you: #vegan creamy garlic and kale penne pasta. 💖 ingredients: bundle of kale half an onion 2 to 3 cloves of garlic 1/2 cup pasta water 1 heaping tbsp flour 1/3 cup almond milk oregano nutmeg salt and pepper 2 cups uncooked penne style pasta Cook your pasta al dente and remove with a slotted spoon and place in a separate bowl (you want to reserve the water it cooked in). Sautee your onions, garlic, and spices in a bit of oil or water if you prefer no oil. Add pasta water and flour. Turn up the heat to "activate" your flour, stirring frequently. Once it's nice and creamy, add your almond milk and kale and turn down to simmer. Add your pasta and stir together. Let it simmer until the kale is your desired level of wilted. my childhood puppy passed away this weekend. I loved her very much. She was a good girl always. She will be sorely missed. I’m sad that I couldn’t say goodbye but I know she knew that I loved her. When she was small and I held her, when she was tired and I carried her, when I was in high school and it felt like she was my only friend. She saved my life when I was deeply depressed. I will never not be grateful for the time and the love she shared with me. Rest in peace, Little C. (2002-2015)

Recipe for pumpkins: 1 cup flour 1/3 cup sugar 1/2 cup pumpkin 1/4 tsp salt Recipe for cats: 3/4 cup flour 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/3 cup sugar 1/2 cup pumpkin 1/4 tsp salt Bake at 350F for 10 minutes. Decorate with melted chocolate. These are low in fat because the pumpkin replaces the fats, and the result is chewy and soft. If you want more of a shortbread texture you can replace the pumpkin with butter in the same amount.

A low oil, low fat, vegan Nutella alternative? Believe the dream~ using the Nutty Spread recipe as a base from my copy of the Happy Herbivore cookbook I have (which is excellent!) I made the following modifications:

Low Fat, Vegan Not-tella Recipe

1 cup white kidney beans

2 tbsp cocoa powder

3 tbsp maple syrup (or other liquid sweetener)

3 tbsp soy milk (or other non-dairy milk)

1/4 cup nut butter

fine salt to taste (if your nut butter is unsalted)

Blend in the food processor until all the beans are thoroughly "processed" and completely smooth. Delicious with fresh berries, bananas, and in crepes. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Yes, it's really that easy. :)
