Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.

âNot long ago I was invited to a librariansâ event by a lady who cheerfully told me, âWe like to think of ourselves as âinformation providers.ââ I was appalled by this want of ambition; I made my excuses and didnât go. After all, if you have a choice, why not call yourselves âShining Acolytes of the Sacred Flame of Literacy in a Dark and Encroaching Universeâ? I admit this is hard to put on a button, so why not abbreviate it to âlibrariansâ?â

if u ever feel like u have really weird and specific and intense obsessions, i think youâd benefit from learning about this book i found in the library today
seems like itâs prob a normal book and weasels are a metaphor for something ? right ? like ? thatâs what youâd think ? but no; no, look:
itâs literally about women and weasels. women and weasels throughout history. itâs a long, scholarly book about women interacting with cute furry rodent slinkies throughout history
i love you, maurizio bettini, whomever you may be. you keep doin you.
A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.
William Styron (via kristensnotebook)
The three rules of the librarians of time and space are: 1) Silence; 2) Books must be returned no later than the last date shown and; 3) Do not interfere with the nature of causality.
Terry Pratchett - Guards! Guards! (via terrypratchettparadise)
Just learned John Milton once sent a fond little book of poems to a Bodleian librarian, calling him a âfaithful guardian of immortal worksâ and keeper of âglorious monuments of illustrious menâ so if any of my bookmonger friends out there were looking for a way to jazz up their CVsâŠ
The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.

@zeecline another song suggestion for your one-woman karaoke gig at the eclipse viewing!
I can picture it now: Me: *emerges from non-fiction stacks* đ¶Turn around Bright eyesđ¶ @agirlinacrazyworld *pops out from behind large print shelves* đ¶ Every now and then I fall apaaaartđ¶ The whole library breaks into: đ¶and I need you now tonightâŠđ¶
@zeecline I would not be surprised if this actually happened. What does that say about us and the rest of the library?
Unseen University, a summary. (quote from Faust/Eric)
Not gonna lie, The Librarian is a big reason I became one myself.
