I have to start meal planning on the weekends if I intend to keep track of my nutrition. School and work make it hard to eat healthy.
Love Elliot. I really needed to hear this.
Transformation takes time!
Fitness Journal
I just started Beta phase in Focus T25. As much as I enjoy 25minute workouts for 5 days a week, I feel like I could do more. These exercises just keep me in the shape I'm in and make me a happier person (exercise is an effective anti-depressant).
I miss P90X workouts and meal plans, but I don't miss the length of the videos. I want to start P90X2 this week, but I also want to finish T25 and see if I get results. I might get impatient.. I miss lifting weights with P90X.
For now, I'll start the meal plan for P90X2 and continue doing T25.
My social media cleanse was unsuccessful.
I got through about a week before I had to log on to facebook to ask my fellow coworkers for shift information. (That's what happens when you don't exchange numbers with people) What I realized from this short cleanse is that social media is a huge part of my life. I spend hours on the internet wasting precious time when I could be reading books, working on my fitness, or just getting things done. On days where I didn't have work I found myself itching to go on to a social media site. However, when I had things to do I didn't feel the need to check my networks. When I had homework I found myself spending time thinking about social media and I couldn't focus on my hw. I lost track of my nutrition this week because of work and school. Overall, I was less motivated to workout and track my food. It was as though I told myself I could get away with it because I had no one to report to.
Social media helps me stay on track of everything. It is also an excellent stress reliever. It does have its downfalls though. I am going to be more careful with what I choose to expose myself to. I've stopped watching videos and looking at images that make me doubt myself. From now on I'm focusing on the things that are most important to me: fitness, school, work, photography, and my girlfriend. I will learn to relax and be slow to anger. I will treat my girlfriend with respect and be there for her when she needs me. I will not be too overbearing, but I will let the people I love know how much they mean to me every single day.
I learned a lot from this short cleanse, but I have my entire life ahead of me and I am willing to learn and grow.
I’m going on a social media cleanse for the next 40 days as a psychological experiment.
I missed a workout this week. I was talking to my girlfriend about P90X because she asked if it actually worked. I told her I lost 8lbs and I got a lot stronger. She didn't seem that impressed with my results because a classmate of hers did P90X and lost way more weight. It's things like this that get me down. I look around and everyone is getting such great results. While I'm here busting my ass trying to run at least 3 miles every other day, stick to my focus T25 workouts, and add another round of P90X(probably p90x3 when it comes out) on top of all that. I'm also on top of my nutrition, tracking my macros and running on a calorie deficit. Fitness and nutrition are no longer a simple hobby for me. It has become a lifestyle change. The hardest part about it all is that I fail to see any results. I feel healthy, I feel strong, but I'm not where I want to be. I continue to push through my workouts and eat healthy but some days it feels like I'm not going anywhere. I want to be fit. I'm not stopping until I see real change. I need to stay focused and try to be better every single day. Every body is different and will respond differently to various diets and exercises. I have to remember to stop comparing myself to other people because I have made progress. No matter how small, progress is progress.
Breakfast?
Inflating to the proper psi makes a world of difference. I've been doing way more cardio this week. We'll see if it makes a difference

5 more days!!
Not sure if I'm seeing progress or not. But I definitely feel stronger and I was happy when I looked in the mirror today. I'm gonna be working on my push up performance and I'm also going to start running and practicing for firefighter academy.
Made the best breakfast today but I forgot to take pictures. Sorry folks! I've been away at school for a while. So quick update: I finished P90X, I've started Focus T25 (on my second week) and I'm vegetarian. This week I'm starting to track my calories again and eat clean. I'm thinking of joining planet fitness so I can work on building my body some more to prepare for work and fire academy. I hope you're all doing well! I've missed you!
Fitness Journal
Bad week in my world of fitness and nutrition. Last weekend I was out of town so I missed my Sunday exercise. School started this week as well so I've missed Monday and Wednesday's workout. I'm trying to adjust to my new schedule so next week I'm getting back on track. My diet hasn't been great either. I've been sticking to my calorie range but I haven't been eating the proper foods. But like I said, next week it's back to business!
I've been on the fat shredder diet/meal plan for P90X. I'm doing really well, I have been hitting my macros for the past few days, but I don't feel as great as I did when I was eating more fruits and vegetables.
The thing with the fat shredder program is that it's not necessarily "healthy" eating. The fat shredder program is precision eating. Meaning I track the amount of protein, carbs, fat and calories in the foods I consume. I take multivitamins and protein to supplement my diet because I can't get that much protein because im vegetarian.
Eating healthy is way easier than following the fat shredder program. When i was eating healthy I just made sure there were fruits and veggies in every meal and avoid too much carbs and fat. Now that I'm trying to pack on the protein and avoid carbs I find myself avoiding fruits as snacks (because they have carbs).
I'm going to stick with the fat shredder program until I complete the P90X program, or maybe until I've "shredded" all the fat. But man.. I sure miss eating fruits and low calorie nutrient rich foods.
Totally ruined my diet today with grill ‘em all & fosselman’s ice cream. I guess you could say it’s my last great meal before I get serious. Tomorrow I’m buying protein supplements and I’ve decided to be vegetarian because it’s so hard finding good vegan protein sources that aren’t high in fat and/or carbs. Although I’m vegetarian, I’m still doing my best to stay away from cheese and dairy milk, or anything else that’s heavily processed and is an animal byproduct. The only non-vegan things I’ll indulge in are eggs and protein supplements. I was vegetarian once before and it ruined everything I had worked for. I was in good shape and I ruined it with a bad diet. So now it’s going to be different. Yes, I’m going to be vegetarian but I’m going to be healthy about it. I’m going to follow the fat shredder plan of 50% protein 30% carbs and 20% fat, and I’m going to work harder than I ever have before, working in 2 to 3 exercises per day, 5-6 days a week. I had a four pack and once, I have a chubby belly now, and I’m working to get a six pack. With hard work, proper nutrition, and dedication, I will achieve my goals. No more excuses and no more quitting. After today I’m getting serious. I’m bringing it like never before!
Boy do I miss those jeans.. They fit me perfectly.
Fitness rambling:
Following a meal plan is easy for me. Following the fat shredder meal plan would be easy too... if i weren't vegan. I love being vegan, and yes it's true, there are many great places to find protein with a vegan diet. My problem is: not being able to keep up with the ratios.
The fat shredder phase of P90X requires a 50-30-20 ratio. 50% protein, 30% carbs and 20% fat. Based on my caloric intake that's 188g of protein, 112g of carbs and 33g of fat. No matter what I do I never seem to get enough protein. And, when I get the right amount of protein I overload on either carbs or fat.
I don't know what to do at this point. There is no way I'm going back to eating meat; the thought alone makes me sick to my stomach (I just don't like the taste of meat). Although I could be vegetarian again.. I'll do some more research and see what types of supplements I can buy and food I can eat.
So far, I've found that my soy protein isolate powder has more protein in 1 scoop than the muscle milk I was drinking a year ago (the only downside is that the soy powder kind of tastes like clay).
