Silence
Virtue # 2 from Benjamin Franklin's 13 Virtues.
When is the right time to listen and when is the right time to speak? Over the years the obvious answer has increasing become, it is always the right time to listen. Speaking only should happen when you know what to say, how to say it and are completely aware of why you are saying it. Which means, that most times I should keep my opinions, thoughts, and feelings to myself. The wit, charm, intelligence and insight that I thought I was going to share often times turned out misunderstood, ill-timed or just wrong.
Always remember what you were taught as a kid: You should listen twice as much as you talk. 2 ears, 1 mouth and silence is golden.
This is bonus material for the Pocket Reflection Book "the Virtues of Benjamin Franklin, Thirteen Habits to Live By"

Fibromyalgia & the Attic
My body hurts, my thoughts are scrambled and my skin feels as though it is burning. I am exhausted for no reason other than getting dressed and I am exceptionally frustrated. This has gone on long enough. It has been over 15 days now and this is one of the longest and definitely the longest relapse I have had in over two years.
Excerpts from Colin Powell
The below comments were on a FB posting. It was so important that I copied it here. I am not sure of attribution or content.
Life is not supposed to be hard. But it is supposed to be challenging. They are very different. Do not ever confuse the two.

Bored? Tired of complacent or dead-end living. Let's make a board.
Step1: Find a space to create your board. Before you can decide on how much you can add and what you want it to hold, you need to decide where it can go.
How much space do you have? An entire wall or just the refrigerator? Will you be using a free standing piece that you can adjust like a corkboard or will you be pasting? All of these matter. Trust me when I say there is nothing worse than planning and not having enough space to make your board accessible.
This is your project, these are your dreams. Notebook journal or use the whole basement wall. Use whatever makes most sense for you. -srt
Have courage for the great sorrows of life and patience for the small ones; and when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace.
Victor Hugo
The world is filled with beautiful and inspirational sayings. At times it can be virtually overwhelming. But what is your heart filled with? Is there love and beauty there? Take time to look within before trying to find the answers elsewhere.

Quote or CounterQuote
Once I have decided on a topic, I run a search on several sites and find quotes that are relevant. Quotes that can support my opinions, offer inspiration and can further illustrate some of the fine points I want to make.
Our culture is obsessed with soundbytes – tiny little bits of speeches, books, and the sort that we use to sum up an entire viewpoint. And while the quotes are most often used in content, please keep in mind that I may not be aware of its original source material nor the biographical history of those quoted. Some might even been excerpted from books and are fictional in nature. Regardless of the quote’s origin; please understand it is my full intention to only use them in uplift and support.
If you find any quote unattributed or incorrectly sourced please feel free to leave me a note and I will do my best to correct the error. If the quote is used out of context - understand that MY intent is that which is stated.
I will often use some that I will call “CounterQuotes”. This will be an opinion that although the author felt was appropriate for whatever reason runs counter to my philosophy. Most often it will be a belief that I either held previously or was firmly ingrained into my worldview. In my paradigm shift I have found the statement/belief to be “faulty thinking” and find it runs counter to my current perspective. I find counter-quotes helpful because they can be used to show the idea from other sides.
So I hope that you enjoy this part of Talk:Think:Share and its accompanying graphics. Feel free to look around the rest of the site, listen to the podcasts and join in on the discussion. It is my sincere wish that you use this to enrich your outlook and your life. And then do the same for others.
In Love, Stephanie Rae
It's Tarantino! Why are you surprised?
Wonder why I want to discuss such a potentially heated topic? How and why is it is appropriate for a site dedicated to empowerment, goal setting and self fulfillment? Because, we tend to get ourselves upset and worked up about things we already know the outcome. I will dig deeper into this in a bit.
As an African American woman trying to uplift and in the process become uplifted; I tend to shy away from discussions that beg to become kindling to the easily aggravated. But, as I was thoroughly enjoying the D'Jango soundtrack this afternoon I was struck by the anger this movie has caused amongst many people. Especially considering this to be 2013. I know the movie was filled with graphic violence, copious amounts of the infamous N-word (why is this word the only word that the letter N represents, really?) and over the top performances. But that is why I loved it. Loved it.
