Theo smiled as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders to guide her along. “I bet we were, you know. Good friends in the past, that is,” he hummed. “I like to think about reincarnation a lot. I hope when this body finally passes on that my soul will be able to be reincarnated still. I’m not sure how it works for vampires, but I hope it’s still the same. I pray it is.”
He guided her along to the Hollow where his apartment with Xing sat. He was really excited to have her visit. He skipped up the stairs and opened the door for her, feeling in a much better mood despite the atmosphere. “Come in,” he said. “Just take off your shoes, if you would.” he smiled politely, kicking off his own shoes and then scurrying into the house and picking up his old prayer book from where it rested on the table near the sofa. The pages were yellowing from age, but clearly the book was well taken care of. He held it out to her. “Here, this is it. This is my most important possession.”
Tara followed along, grinning. “Yes!” Then she nodded. “I read a lot about reincarnation when I left Kansas and was on the road. The Bible doesn’t talk about it, and I remember a priest once telling me it opposed the Scripture, which is why I never really learned about it a lot growing up. I really love the idea of it, though.” She said, looking down as she walked.
Once at Theo’s apartment, she walked in and took off her shoes with a small nod. Tara followed him and glanced around the apartment for a moment before looking down at the book he was holding out to her. She took it carefully, examining its covers with a fascinated smile. “Wow,” she opened it careful, her finger trailing the writing on the pages. “It’s a beautiful book. How old is it?”

“Of course! As long as you won’t get into any trouble, I can head out anytime. “
“Then what are we waiting for?” Tara exclaimed, jumping up from her seat. She went over to the back room to punch out and leave her apron on its hook before grabbing her purse and heading back over tot where Killian was. “Let’s go on a birthday adventure!”

He laughed “You’d sure find my childhood…interesting. It was nothing like cornfields and Kansas. “ Kane took his third, not quite feeling it yet, but getting closer.
“I’d love to hear about your childhood,” Tara laughed, making no move to take her next hit. She needed a second to breathe. “I honestly would’ve loved to grow up here.”

Dante had finished cleaning the cage, whistling softly with the little birds as he placed them back inside. “Yes, yes, you’re welcome.” He mumbled quietly with a laugh. He turned back to the counter and looked a little surprised when he saw the girl in the store.
“Oh, ah, succulents?” He repeated. Dante nodded and hopped off the stool. “Give me one second,” he told her before darting into the backdoor. When he came out a few minutes later, he was carrying a long, narrow wood box full of various small succulents in different colored pots. Dante set the box on the counter with a huff. “I have a couple of other boxes of them as well if you don’t see any you like in here. But all of them are on the smaller side, I’m afraid!”
Tara grinned when he nodded. She leaned against the counter when he went to the back room and came back with the box of succulents. “That’s okay if they’re small, I have ideas and small succulents would work just fine!” She pulled out her small notebook, flipping to a page with a rough sketch of a couple terrariums. “I kind of want to do something like this, to hang from the wall in my studio at home. I think it would add a nice touch of green to the room without being too overbearing.”

Dante loathed the weather that Devil’s Watch suffered through. The winters were too long, the summers not long enough and the damn impromptu rain that came whenever it pleased. He stared wistfully out of the front windows of his small flower shop, tucked behind the counter on a stool. It was bad enough that the recent events of the town had made everyone more on edge, he didn’t need the weather to drag him down as well. His fingers drummed slowly against the wood. Eventually, Dante gave up on waiting for the rain to stop so he could check on his outdoor plants, and turned around in the seat to face the sizable birdcage that sat behind him on a table. “Rainy days really aren’t the best time to buy flowers, are they?” He mumbled to the bird pecking at the bars.
He busied himself with the small finches, refilling food and tidying up the area, too distracted to hear the bells of the entrance chime, a signal that someone walked in.
Tara had new plans for her studio that involved lots of plants and greenery. She wanted to feel more connected to nature, and when the winter blues were getting her down, she knew that she just needed more plants. Having a day off work, she set out towards the flower shop she’d walked by a few times before but had never gone into. Even though it was a rainy day, she wasn’t going to let it keep her inside.
Tara pushed open the door and looked around, noticing someone tidying up nearby. Choosing not to distract them from their task, Tara started circling the store. When she couldn’t find what she needed, she approached the only other person in the store. “Excuse me?” She asked, approaching slowly. “Do you have any succulents?”

“I guess so,” Theo smiled a bit. “I certainly learned a lot.” he chewed his lower lip and then tilted his head. He blushed a little at her kind words. “Wow, thank you. I don’t think I’m incredible, but I think it’s very kind of you to say. I guess I just don’t want to forget those people, either. I want to hold them in my heart, to know that they suffered and never cause that sort of suffering again.” he suddenly pulled her into a hug. “I know. Our souls must have known each other once.” he pulled back and held her hands. “Come on. You want to come over to my place? I really want to show you my prayer book, and everything.”
“I think you’re incredible,” Tara nodded, smiling. “I believe that you won’t ever cause that kind of suffering again. You’re too kind,” she hugged him back. Her heart swelled with his words and she blushed, looking down at the ground for a moment. “You think so?” She looked back up. “Maybe we were friends in a past life,” she squeezed his hand, nodding enthusiastically. “Yes! Please. I’d love to see.”
