“Oh, really? I’ve never liked being alone but everyone has their own preferences.”
"Ugh! I have had it with these little pranks! I swear to God the next carcass I find on my steps had better be the brat responsible for ‘em. Stupid, unworthy…" Noelle sighed heavily as she sniffed the freshly dead squirrel that was the latest of "pranks" to be pulled on her without any indication who it was. Whoever it was was clever enough to mask their scent before touching it and left no trace that could be tracked. A wave of pity took her as she gingerly handled the creature by the tail and tossed it into the depths of the woodland area on the out skirts of her property.
Ana had delivered a recovered copy of a history of Avalon to one of her clients and spent a little while wandering the city and enjoying her solitude. However, she caught the scent of a dead squirrel and followed it out of morbid curiosity. "Mmm . . . that is an unpleasant surprise to come upon." She gave a small wave in Noelle's direction, remembering the vampire from their meeting in the shop. "Hello."
'S there anythin' worse than a ice cold night? I dun'think so
Location: Human Dorms
"Being alone on a cold night, perhaps."
"Mm, are you sure? Well, its good to see you too. I miss you." She leaned her head on her sister’s shoulder and smiled up at her. "What have you done today. Anything good?"
"Of course I'm sure. Have you been busy with that human?" Ana smiled and wrapped her arm around Kate. "Oh, just making some deliveries. What about you? I was thinking about getting something from that cafe nearby, if you want to join me."
He shrugged a little and smiled a little more,”I’ve been good. Just exploring the forest and everything else. How have you been?”
"I'm sure you're enjoying that. I've been well. I just kept to the shop for a few days." She smiled up at him and reached up to brush at his hair. "Have you seen Kate lately?"
Felix had the urge to run, so he did, however that urge died down and it was like clockwork finding one sister or the other to be around. He walked up behind Tatiana, seeing the small children and smiling just a bit as well,”Good morning to you too.”
The only thing better than seeing Kate was seeing both her siblings and it felt like an eternity since Ana had seen Felix. She beamed at him and leaned against him fondly for a minute. "How are you?"
Katherine didn’t admit it to anyone, even her family, but sometimes she longed to have children of her own. She had too many responsibilities of her own already though and didn’t think she could give them the love and attention they deserved. That said, she thought Tatiana would be an amazing mother someday. “Hello my lovely sister. Lost in thought?”
Upon hearing her sister's familiar voice, Ana turned with a bright smile. Talking to Kate would be infinitely better than thinking about how much she wanted a family but didn't think it would happen. "A bit, I suppose. But nothing important really. It's nice to see you."
Ana stood in a courtyard watching a couple of children playing with a small smile on her lips. They never failed to amuse her. Hearing footsteps, she moved aside to let the person pass and murmured absently, "Good morning."
New Wolf in Town
"She understood me like no one else.. Except for Absinthe, he was my horse" Qhuinn laughed softly as they strolled. This was nice, really. Even though the woman wasn’t another wolf, she guessed there was a bond that all supers shared, just like a bond that all humans shared. "Have you met Conall?" she inquired, tilting her head. "And..that’s all I would ever want really, if I were to claim someone. Just to give them a home..keep them safe.." She smiled a little when she thought of how sweet Echo had been to her, then laughed at the look on Ana’s face. "No…I believe I said ‘worldy’" the wolf teased back, though her jaw did drop slightly when the woman revealed her age. Damn…. "Ah yeah, you’re just a bit older.." she chuckled. The things she must have seen….fascinating..
"As I said, it's a special bond there. And with animals too. When I - was younger, my sister bought a dog to . . . keep me company. We've been breeding him and his descendants for years and I can't imagine not having one of them at my side." She nodded slowly, remembering her meeting with the Alpha. He wasn't necessarily her favorite person but he wasn't terrible. "I've met him yes. Then you should do well here. Many of the humans only want that, although some want more. Just don't think you can give them their freedom. It isn't allowed." She pouted at Qhuinn for a moment, pretending to be hurt. "That's just a more polite way of saying it though. It's been a wonerful journey, watching the world progress. I wouldn't trade my life for any other."
"Fine. Thank you for asking," she muttered from habit as she surveyed the woman in front of her. "Sorry bout that miss. What can I do for you? Just got a new shipment of ancient text and talismans if that's what your after." The blonde motioned towards the backroom to the plethora of boxes yet to be opened in , riddled with ink stamps from all over the world. Perfect, at least maybe we'll get one decent customer today. Maybe if Vi actually bought something of value we wouldn't have this issue. Men.
"I'm glad to hear that." Diane wandered a few feet away, still in hearing distance, but far enough to look at the nearby items. She didn't really need anything, unless they stocked beads or crystals here but the ancient texts sounded interesting. "Hmmm, how ancient do you mean? And would you happen to have any beads or crystals or something like that, small and decorative? I know it's not the normal thing for a pawnshop, but I thought I'd ask. I'm Tatiana Aurelia."
The day’s hours seemed to drag even slower the more she was irritated. She missed the freedom to roam about in the sun, even though she was granted the freedom of the night it just wasn’t the same. Damn Vi should be back by now she thought as she glanced worriedly at her watch. He promised to be back to close the shop early from his engagements with the slaves. Poor human probably begged him to stay knowing full and well the full extent of addiction that man could elicit from his lovers. Noelle growled in-spite of herself at the fleeting memory as it stirred a lingering heat that wouldn’t ebb. Damn him.
Ana has gone out wandering out of despite to do something while Kate was busy with her responsibilities. Catching sight of the blonde woman, she turned that way and smiled at her. "Hello. Is everything all right?" She couldn't be sure, but thought she caught a hint of frustration coming from the blonde.
New Wolf in Town
Looking down until her tears were under control, Qhuinn squeezed the woman’s hand back softly, grateful for the sympathy. “Thank you” she whispered softly. “I miss her more than my parents sometimes, as awful as that sounds. She would have accepted me like this though, where they didn’t. And I know I will..Conall is my family already..my mate” Tilting her head at the other, she inquired softly. “What..would make them happy? Aside from being free, of course..” After studying Ana for a long moment, she asked the first question that came to her mind. “How old are you? You just seem so….” Crap…what was a polite word for, well, old.. “Worldly!” she finished, biting her lip with an awkward laugh.
"I understand that, I think. There's a special bond between sisters - especially if she would have accepted your new life." Although Ana didn't understand having a mate, it clearly made Qhuinn happy, so she skilled and didn't say anything else about it. She didn't like causing strife. "My - Frederick just wanted a home, even if he wasn't technically free. I suppose it depends on the human, really. Some want safety, or to be pampered, of to live life in a semblance of normalcy." Ana lashed and gave Qhuinn a mock glare. "Are you calling me old?" The expression only lasted a moment before she grinned again. "A little over 8,000, of my memory serves right. Much older than you, but I've met older supernatural beings."
"As long as you don’t mind watching me attempt to dry this mane of hair, you’re not interrupting. Nice to meet you, Tatiana. I’m Molly Cooper." She gave the woman a grin. Something about her was timid in a way that most supers weren’t.
"Not at all! It's lovely hair." Ana nearly offered to braid it for her, but thought that might come across badly. "It's nice to meet you too." She blinked for a minute before adding, "Were you going to your room? I just sort of came out of nowhere, didn't I?"
"Oh good. I always prefer word-of-mouth recommendations. They’re much more reliable." He raised his eyebrow when she mentioned having a shop. "Oh, wha’ kind o’ shop do yeh have?" He listened as she briefly touched on her life. "I’m sorra tae say tha’ I dorn’t know much abou’ fae. Unconventional sounds interesting. So, wha’ were some of th’ interestin’ thin’s tha’ yeh pursued?"
"It's usually more accurate." Her eyes lit up at the question about her shop. "I do bookbinding. Before, I had all sorts of books but here I mostly do journals and things. Although I do get the occasional historical or fictional account." She shook her head gently at him, although since he hadn't lived nearly as long as she had, she couldn't blame him for his lack of knowledge. "As alpha, you should learn all you can about the other species. My sister, Katherine, is the head of the Fae. I'm sure she could help you. I mostly read, but that in itself was an oddity. I did learn how to throw knives, however. That was my weapon of choice when I needed to defend myself."
New Wolf in Town
"Oh..that’s so lovely.. I..I lost my sister when I was fifteen, and my parents just a few months ago. It’s wonderful that you get to be so close to her. Family is important..that’s why I hope the pack here will become like a family to me" Qhuinn smiled sadly, brushing her hair back from her face. "Oh..I can’t expect them to be happy, that’s just.." She started to say unreasonable but held her tongue, not wanting to anger the other woman if she would disagree. "Well..Echo is lovely, I may have him spend a few days with Conall and I even" Smiling, she began to stroll. "Tell me about yourself, Ana?"
Ana squeezed Qhuinn's hand gently. The thought of losing her own sister was overwhelming. "I'm so sorry to hear that. You'll make a new family here." She nodded slowly, thinking about the humans and their lives. "Well, I've known some to be happy in time." Although Ana saw the reason for keeping slaves, she also understood Qhuinn's apparent reluctance about it. "I'm sure that would be lovely." She hummed thoughtfully for a minute then laughed. "Well, you'll have to be a little more specific. What would you like to know?"
I am strong.
New Wolf in Town
"It is..I know that now. Especially if they’re loved ones, or family. Do you have family on the island, Ana?" There was something about the woman, something in her mannerisms and speech, that made Qhuinn feel she was very old. And that was..intimidating. At least she was nice though, that helped put her more at ease. "I will keep trying, I have to. I want to do something good while I’m here, it’s just something I have to do.. I have met a sweet one, Echo." The others giggle brought an answering sound from Qhuinn, it was just so infectious. "I certainly believe in it now. And I’d like that.. Would..you like to walk with me a little?" she asked shyly.
"I do, yes. My brother and sister both live here - Kate and I are neighbors, actually. Felix lives nearby as well." Ana wasn't sure she could have handled everything without them. "It does get easier, with time. Of course, some of the slaves will never be happy but it's always worth it when you find one who really likes you. It's lucky you found someone so soon." Although Ana tended to avoid other wolves, she enjoyed Qhuinn's company and at the invitation, nodded eagerly. "That sounds lovely. Where are you going?" She linked her arm through Qhuinn's and began walking slowly.
