“Everyone, please, please, I’m begging you, calm down!” Minerva pushed her way through the hysterical students, trying to take her own advice and calm down. She knew that she needed to be here, keeping an eye on everyone, but all she wanted was to be out there searching for Rosemerta. That girl was so dear to her, and if anything happened to her…N O, Minerva couldn’t think like that. Her eyes landed on the student nearest her. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Professor.” Tatiana’s voice was a little strained but maybe Professor McGonagall wouldn’t notice that, with how chaotic the room was. And really, she was fine - at least, she would be once she found another quiet corner and could think again. The room was making her feel claustrophobic again.

roxannemontegue:
She shook her head and sat down next to her, looking around at the frantic chaos that surrounded them. It was almost disorienting. “No, I’m–I’m not. I’m fine.” She looked over at her, taking a deep breath. “I just want to know why.” Of course, she knew–the Dark Lord knew no mercy and didn’t care for innocent casualties. Still…why attack now? “There’s word a student is missing, too.”
“Oh good.” Was it really possible for anything to be good at the moment? It didn’t seem like it should be but she was glad that Roxanne wasn’t hurt. “Do you have to ask? They hate u- Muggleborns and Muggles and anyone who’s blood isn’t pure.” She’d heard that too and nodded, her stomach clenching even tighter. Someone they knew was out there and god only knew what was happening to them. “I think I’m gonna be sick,” she mumbled, covering her face with her hands.
charliesporter:
Charlie got up. “You’re safe. We’re safe,” she said, stroking Tatiana’s hand delicately. “I just want you to know that, and that nothing is going to happen to your family as well, alright? Everything will be okay,” she reassured the other girl, her eyebrows raised. “I’m going to look for some people and talk to the professors, but you can just call for me if you need it, okay? Maybe ‘Accio Charlie’ will work,” she joked, chuckling. Slowly letting go of the girl’s hand, she turned to leave and took one last look behind.
“Okay,” she said softly, tightening her grip for a minute. She could already feel the absence of Charlie at her side and for a minute, wanted to follow her. But that was ridiculous; Charlie was off to do . . . something brave, probably, and Tatiana was going to find an empty corner and try not to cry. “Okay,” she repeated, running her hands over her jeans. As Charlie turned though, Tatiana gave in to a wild impulse and lurched up, throwing her arms around Charlie tightly in a brief hug. “Be careful.” The words came out in a rough whisper but she was sure Charlie had heard them. Spinning on her heel, she walked away, brushing a hand over her eyes as she went.
ofambiticn:
Had she hoped that the younger girl had said no? Not at all. However, at this point Lara was rather uncertain of what to do or say, not sure if Tatiana was lying or not and not wanting to accuse her of doing so. But, she remembered the sparks shooting from her wand —- accidental magic. “Are you sure?,” she asked. She was a prefect after all, wasn’t she supposed to look out for other students —- even if they were from other houses? “It’s okay not to be, after all.” With that, she smiled remotely, hoping to come off as warm.
“Of course I am,” she muttered stubbornly. It was partly instinctive - she tried to be as self-sufficient as possible all the time. But mostly she just didn’t want to admit how unsettled she was - how afraid she was. She hadn’t even wanted to let Charlie or Roxanne see how upset she was, so she didn’t think she could let someone she didn’t know very well see that side of her. “I know it’s okay but I’m fine.” She tried to ignore how her voice trembled on the last word and took a step back.
beastiebellatrix:
“Confidence, my dearie.” Oh, it was so easy to slip beneath someone’s skin – to fasten strings around their fingers and yank them around like puppets on a string. ( You are the only free one, Bellatrix – you and Him, the one they speak so fearfully of… ) “Next time I agree, do not act so surprised. It’s unbecoming.”
“Oh.” Tatiana flushed and looked down, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. That was true enough and normally she was more confident in herself. But it was Bellatrix Black. Tatiana hadn’t even dreamed she would earn any sort of approval from Bellatrix. “I’ll remember that.”
roxannemontegue:
She felt her hand and jumped, looking over and relaxing when she saw who it was. Thank Merlin it was Tatiana. “I…I don’t know,” Roxanne said truthfully. She didn’t know if she was okay. It was all just so sudden, she wasn’t sure how she’d react when it finally settled later on. “Are you? Here, sit down.”
Tatiana let out a breathless sigh. If anyone understood how she felt, she thought Roxanne would. “I’m not really sure either,” she admitted, eyes fixed on the floor. Everything was so muddled and she still couldn’t sort out her emotions - although she was pretty sure she wasn’t okay. But she didn’t want to admit that. Dropping into the seat, she ran a hand over her legs. “You aren’t hurt or anything?”
roxannemontegue:
She grinned. “There has to be someone out there. Thank you, Tati. Really.” She tilted her head to the side. “We could find one later?”
“I’m sure there is and I’d be happy to help you look! Maybe there’s something in the library or the Daily Prophet that would be useful.” She dusted her hands off. “I think I’m supposed to go find someone though, so I’ll look for you later!”
charliesporter:
“Yes. Yes it was you-know-who, and a bunch of idiots that follow him,” she said, disgust and mockery in her voice. Charlie knew that they were dangerous, that she shouldn’t mock them, but she couldn’t help it; she felt so disgusted when she thought about those people, and how coward they were willing to be for blood purity, power, and some of them, out of fear, to keep themselves breathing. “No news about the village, though. Makes me sick to think of the muggles that lived in it- god, that was so horrible.” Charlie rested her head on her free hand, her eyes on Tatiana. “And, you see, they could have attacked Hogsmeade as well- it was full of children and students that wouldn’t be able do much against them. But they chose a muggle village, and they took a muggleborn girl… the message couldn’t be more clear.”
Charlie squeezed Tatiana’s hand lightly. “At least here, we’re safe. I trust Dumbledore and the professors and… well, I don’t trust the Ministry completely? They have been saying everything is okay but as you can see, it’s not. But the Aurors are trustworthy, I guess. They wouldn’t let you-know-who and his followers get close to the castle.”
Tatiana nearly flinched again, but she couldn’t quite decide why. A mixture of fear and anxiety and a little bit of surprise at Charlie’s tone caused the motion, she supposed. Not that she thought Charlie was overreacting at all but Tatiana couldn’t imagine being brave enough to admit to her own disgust and hatred of the dark lord and his followers. Shaking her head at the thought of the Muggle village, she had to suppress a shiver; that could be her own family, if things didn’t get better soon. “I can’t understand . . .” anything. None of this made sense.
Clinging to Charlie’s hand, Tatiana nodded and tried to take some comfort from the words. She knew the professors would do their best to protect them, and Hogwarts was supposed to be one of the safest places in the wizarding world, but nothing was invincible. “I know. I - I hope . . .” Her voice trailed off again because there was too much to try to explain what she hoped for.
beastiebellatrix:
“Then you lack imagination, my sweetling.” She listened to the girl ramble speak, and she could feel the arguments well in her head. She wanted to wrap her hands around the girl’s throat, pull her close, and whisper those arguments straight to her. Instead, she smiled, tilting her head to the side as if considering Tatiana’s point. “I’m inclined to agree. We need those differences to function.” Who else would scrape the dirt from her shoes?
Tatiana blinked, a little stunned at the statement although she couldn’t really argue with it; she’d never been creative, really. Bellatrix probably had a point. But her next statement was equally as stunning, leaving Tatiana gaping for a minute. “You - you . . . agree with me?” She stared at Bellatrix, torn between pride that she’d apparently said something clever and suspicion that the older girl had some sort of trick up her sleeve.
"Why did he choose her instead of me?" [From Kate]
"Why did he choose her instead of me?"
Tatiana put a hand over her mouth to cover her giggle. She hadn’t really thought that babysitting Professor Cadwallader’s nephews and niece would be so much fun but it really was. “I’m sorry, Kate,” she said when she managed to steady her voice so it wasn’t obvious she was fighting back laughter. “But look on the brightside, he’s got a twin so there’s still one for you!”
