Me reading another Agatha Christie novel: I wonder what will happen in THIS one 👀
Agatha Christie: A murder
Me: Ooooh 👀👀👀
Write that one scene that you want to write. Do not wait for the right moment. Do not wait to write all the scenes before that. Writing doesn't have to be linear. Just write what you want to write.
sleep is overrated can i please just read all night 📖🤍
money is made so i can buy this edition of Pride and Prejudice that contains all of the letters sent between the characters throughout the book.
I miss when not only did books have summaries on the back cover but also had a second, bonus summary on the copyright page

hey quick PSA but “reading before bed to wind down” only works if you’re normal about books btw. if you aren’t you are going to end up awake at 2:52am after finishing the whole book just trust me on this one
Synopsis:
In this luminous young adult novel by New York Times bestselling author Aisha Saeed, two teen protagonists grow from friends to something more in the aftermath of a tragedy in their magical town.
Moonlight Bay is a magical place—or it was once. After a tragic death mars the town, the pink and lavender waters in the bay turn gray, and the forest that was a refuge for newcomers becomes a scourge to the townspeople. Almost overnight, the entire town seems devoid of life and energy. The tourists have stopped coming. And the people in the town are struggling.
My Thoughts:
My favorite thing about this book is how emersive the setting felt. Throughout the story, it feels as if you're right there looking out at the magical waters of Moonlight Bay or the glowing Golub tree.
The plot did feel a bit slow to me at times, but I think this actually works in favor of making the town so immmersive, and the characters feel real.
Raf has had to relocate to Moonlight Bay with his family and community because his home is too dangerous to live in. He is trying to balance his responsibility to his family, his loyalty to his people, and his dreams for the future.
For Yas, Moonlight has always been the home she loves. But now that the whole town is struggling, including her mother's business, she will have to decide if she will abandon everything she believes in or fight to save it.
Best friends, since they were children, Raf and Yas, are also figuring out if they should go their separate ways or if they could be something more.
Overall, Forty Words for Love is a powerful, heartfelt story about community, family, and love. I recommend it if you enjoy magical realism and a small seaside town vibe.

Reblog if you are a bookworm.
some thoughts on the lynburn legacy by sarah rees brennan
i read this series when it was first being published when i was in high school and adored it! this was the series that led me to read srb's blog and then the turn of the story which became in other lands
kami glass remains one of my favorite main characters of all time. she is smart, she is funny, she drives the plot forward. she has a strong moral compass and pretends to be more confident than she is. she thinks too much and cannot resist a puzzle. or a pun. and her sense of style definitely influnced mine tbh. i am obsessed with her and one of a kind
i understand SO much more about the plot and themes than i did when i was a teen. the commentary on class, on abuse of power, of eugenics. . .srb adresses these topics so well. and i understood them on some level as a teen but i have a much deeper appreciation and understanding now as an adult. and im glad i had a text like this to engage with then and now!!
i also now understand why all of kami's family and friends were like stay away from jared!!! cause like,,, i love him, hes a great character, but yeah id be worried about my friend/family member if they were involved with a guy who had his temper and treated people the way he does in book 1. like,,, yeah i want to give him coco and wrap him in a blanket and shove him in therapy for 5 years,,,, but maybe he isnt ready for a romantic relationship
that being said, i still really totally ship kami and jared. best friends who can read each others minds but also total strangers??? they are also kindred spirits and similar in many unexpected ways
this book is soooooo quotable and i think tumblr is missing out on some amazing jokes and philosophy. book three is pretty hopepunk.
yeah, i do ship jon and lillian now. they have good chemistry, what can i say
i actually would love a life story from lillians perspective. i think it would be a fantastic epic.
ash lynburn aspires to be luke sunborn. i love that both characters are reaponses to the same golden prince archetype but drastically different messages
i love how this book has a wonderful love story and srb still addresses amanormativity. romance is best when the characters have more than one person they love.
i deeply deeply appreciate angela and she deserves the world
holly is precious and i am so proud of her
also so amazing to have a main character who has been trained in self defense for years leading up to when the book takes place and can protect herself physically
i really love this series, if you like srb's other work, this is a must to read. if you like gothic literature, if you like ya lit from 2012, if you like clever subversions of tropes, if you like witty dialogue, if you like clever protagonists. .. this series might be for you
Me: Okay, i’m not buying books for a while now.
Tumblr: But have you seen these books you’ll absolutely love ???1?1?1?
