Killed it yesterday!
Been trying to focus more on my running time than actual distance since that's been a hot mess with my fitbit on the treadmill and the frustration just makes me less inclined to run. I've also been tracking my food which has been helping like crazy with making healthier choices. I still snack all day and had the best gyro at the mall on the weekend but I'm now less inclined to eat an entire bag of chips in a sitting lol and as of this morning I've lost 13lbs!
Weight loss was only ever part of my goal of running that 5k but my knees and legs are a lot less sore than they were when I started running. My weight routine is also starting to show in my arms and I have so much energy and I feel so good all the time now. It's actually made me feel a lot more in tune with my body's needs and it's like I'm finally starting to get body positivity. I've always felt kind of disconnected from my own body that everything has always existed as something outside of myself but this time around I really feel like I'm coming into myself. Like my body and I are partners on this journey together.
I've also looked into starting martial arts to really explore that connection and build my strength and mobility even more. Plus I want to learn how to fight with a spear!
Didn't meet my step goal yesterday but I've started watching my food more closely and I joined a queer pickleball league!
For not having played before, I had a ton of fun and my body is very sore this morning 😆 apparently I haven't been getting an actual full body workout but now I know some muscles to target!
I'm also down nearly 10lbs since I started consistently working out at the beginning of February which isn't as much as I'd like it to be but I feel like I'm finally hitting my stride.
Going to go for another 5k tonight so stay tuned!
We're so back!!
The past month has been brutal for calf and shin pain and I haven't been able to get past 2.5km without my legs cramping up. So I've been focusing on weights and strength training and have been cycling to work when the weather isn't stupid cold.
But today. Today I ran 5k for the first time in over a month and I feel amazing! My treadmill doesn't have a distance function (she's old and heavy but runs like a dream) and my fitbit gps hates the treadmill - check that 31' pace 😂 but 5k is in the realm of 5400 steps for me so I made it, even if I don't know my exact time.
this is your reminder to start slow and gradually lean into consistency rather than to change your entire routine one fine day. it's okay to start wherever and whenever you feel ready. please don't compare yourself to the highlight reel of people on social media. i promise it's never too late to work on your goals. you don't have to make a drastic change just because it's a new year. time is a social construct and i want nothing more than for you to truly enjoy life at present without worrying too much about the future. you are completely able to achieve goals you have set for yourself, but take it step by step. please avoid burnout and please take rest. wishing you all the best!!
First bike ride to work of the season! Significantly slower than where I left off last year but my cardio is definitely better. On my best rides I've been able to do it in 8 minutes so aiming to get it down to 5 this summer.
This week of 5k training has been super disappointing, my fitbit doesn't like tracking my treadmill runs these days and I've had some really intense calf and shin pain which nothing seems to be helping. I'm calling my doctor today to get a referral for physio and to get new orthotics (my current ones are 11 years old lol). I haven't been able to hit 5k for over a week now and it's been really bringing me down.
But! I lowered my dose of creatine and switched my workout recovery from protein powder to 0% Greek yogurt (17g of protein!) And I've dropped over 3lbs this week!
Weight loss has never been my goal, I want to feel good in my clothes and be strong and healthy, but I'm hoping losing some extra weight will help take some of the pressure off my knees when I run. Until I can get this figured out I'm going to stick to cycling and weights for lower impact cardio and strength training. I'm already starting to see some definition on my biceps and it's the coolest thing 💪
The sun is shining, it's 8 degrees, and I took my bike off the trainer today. Super tempted to take her out for the first ride of the season after dinner 🚴☀️
Yeah babyyy!!!

i love women. in the feminist way and in the gay way. happy international women’s day
My knee is killing me today, which might be the new shoes correctly aligning my left knee when I run since it's always been a little out of place. Or it might be my tight ass hamstrings telling me to cool it lol
Probably going to take the next couple days off to rest it but I ran 12.5km this week which is my best week yet! Fingers crossed I can come back and blow through my PR next week.
And since it's Friday I'm having bibimbap (with extra banchan!) for lunch as a treat for a solid training week. Been trying to get my food intake a little more regulated since my snacking and love of carbs tends to slow me down. I also haven't been eating a lot of meat lately, mostly due to sensory issues but god I'm so excited for bulgogi.
First run with new shoes!
Probably would have been a new PR if my fitbit hadn't vibrated at 4.96km to tell me I met my step goal. I stopped the treadmill thinking I hit 5k. Lost my momentum and my last few metres 🫠
The first 2k hurt like hell but I'm slowly bringing up my pace!
I don't really have anywhere else to be excited about this but I've been training for a 5k race since early February and after over a week of leg pain and not being able to finish my runs I finally got back up to 5k AND beat a bunch of my PRs!
My best time is still 29:57 but I'm aiming for a 20 minute 5k by the race in June.
Idk this is for my own personal record more than anything else, might start a sideblog to track progress.
Aaaaand I made a sideblog lol
