i made a simspo sideblog (mostly so i can reblog ts4 stuff that i am eyeing covetously) there's not much on it rn but feel free to follow if y'all want
(also my cc-only blog is here for people who might not want to see my random posts and rambling on here)
Like many of us, I grew up with Garden of Shadows. To me, it was more than just a forum. It was a place I could ask for help, learn new skills and, best of all, find amazing content in any style I could possibly want. I loved the board names, the people, the themes; everything, really.
And I admit I was more than a little heartbroken to find it gone.
After mulling it over, I decided that I wanted to preserve what I possibly could. I spent a few hours yesterday running through strategies and ideas about how to best go about it, and the best I could come up with was, well, exactly the same.
So, here it is: the Garden of Shadows mirror forum.
I've only just started, but I hope to add a little bit to it every day. The primary focus will be on preserving all the knowledge and custom content. I'm tackling it myself, but if you feel so inclined, you're more than welcome to join in.

PS. I am not here to offend, break Terms of Use, or to step on any toes. This is simply an effort to preserve content and knowledge for a game I have played and loved for over twenty years. Thank you ♥
ok but hear me out........ the upcoming ts4 pack with the tattoo table......
that converted for ts2, but functional..... same animations as the bv massage table (+ the tattoo gun accessory attached to the artist-sim's hand??? they don't even need to be properly holding it imo, just having the accessory there would be cool i think). the client changes into undies instead of towel, loses comfort/energy(/hunger/hygiene? lmao) and gains fun and maybe social too? so the table advertises for those. change appearance dialog comes up (in the case of facial tattoos) but otherwise tattoos are still applied with overlays as usual (oh to have a 'buy clothes'-style dialog window for tats...... 😢). the tattoo artist gains creativity skill + arts&crafts enthusiasm as they work. custom memory for the client sim if it's their first tattoo (or a repeatable one could be cool too?) 🤔🤔🤔 functional tattoo table.....
Forget BV animations, we can actually convert TS4 anims!
Overlays are a bit of a pain, but eh, should be possible. Could even put some OFB functionality in there, connect it to the styling badge, add enthusiasm. Totally doable imho
i mostly figured using already in game animations would make things easier and less work to make (and i already felt like i was dreaming way too big 😅) but hey, converted anims would be even better of course! i completely forgot about the styling badge too, that's a good idea 😎
If you don't mind me asking where do you get your skins/skin details because your sims look awesome :0 <3 (specifically of the gorls)
@tawk-sick ah, thank you!! 🥺🖤 i did put a lot of effort into those two so i appreciate it haha
(before i get to your wcif i just wanted to say that all the cc i link below is for sims 2! i really only mention it since your blog seems ts4 focused, and i know it's not always easy to tell one game from the other in screenshots these days 😅 i'm assuming you know i'm a ts2 simblr but i figured it wouldn't hurt to clarify it anyway 🫡)
i use honeyhoney by lilith as my default skins, and it's the skin the taller one of my girls is using. the other sim is using keoni's rei, which is based on honeyhoney but blended to add asian features (e.g. monolids). i also used a lot of nose masks/face kits/shaders on them, to get some variation.
generally, i recommend anything by lilith (she has a lot of nice skins, nose masks, eyelids, and other useful make up items); anything by jessi-dot (also lots of useful make up and many sets of freckles); alfredaskew and digitalangels also have really good stuff, alfred's shader sets are essential imo (links to some of their sets below the cut; i also recommend browsing digi's blogs for more of her stuff); rensim's face kit is a staple for me to this day; and these face kits by simplelife may seem old now but they're still excellent.
there's a lot more good stuff out there if you feel up to digging for it, and depending on the aesthetic you're going for! esotheria has also received some wcifs for make up and face details and has really good recs (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), and virtualpeople also has some good tips here.
i went through the cc those two specific sims of mine are using, and put it in a list with links for you below:
these nosemasks by lilith
these nosemasks also by lilith
the jaw shaders from this set by alfredaskew (which i use on pretty much all my sims because the jaws bother me lol)
these philtrums by xwhitepolar (i also use these on all my sims)
these mouth corners by digitalangels (also used on every sim)
the nose shadow mask in this bundle by pooklet (lots of good stuff in there too; i also use this specific mask on every sim)
this set of shaders by alfredaskew
this set by simnopke
these eyelid and tearduct details by alfredaskew
these waterlines by jessi-dot (which i also use on almost all my sims)
several bits from the face kit by rensim
this hollow of the cheek shaper reuploaded by esotheria
these lips by lilith
these dimples by lilith (single side version by papasita here)
these eyebags by digitalangels
these shaders by amaryll
these moles by deedee
these moles by jj1010
these freckles by jessi-dot
these face tattoos by episims
body-wise, they're also using this cleavage overlay by platinumaspiration and these body freckle overlays by episims + themeasureofasim. i also used this tooth gap mask by pooklet and these tongues by digitalangels.
lastly, here's some more links i found while searching that could also be useful for you: 1, 2, 3, 4
I wanted to feel like it’s the early 2000s again, so I decided to make a Sims 2 music video. Evanescence felt like an obvious choice to crank up the nostalgia factor even more. There are probably like 100 sims videos for this song on YouTube already. Well, then now it's 101, I guess.
I think the YouTube algorithm is still figuring out who to show this video to, so if you enjoy this type of content, it’d mean a lot to me if you could like/subscribe or leave a comment (feels weird to finally say these words unironically haha).
i Have to learn how to mesh. so i can 1) convert existing m clothes for f sims 2) frankenmesh bodyshapes + convert clothes for them 3) make small mesh edits to things i need 😤
I'm currently in the testing process for V2 of my Trait-Based Chemistry mod, but I wanted to go ahead and share this first, since I intend these to be used with that mod.
The original 3t2 traits were released 6 years ago, and I thought it was time for a fresh look. And while Flippity Flop traits by @anachronisims/@cityof2morrow filled in some gaps, I still felt like there were some aspects of real life personalities that were missing. And like most things, I started working on this and couldn't stop. Here's what you'll find in the download folders:
New icons for 3t2 & Flippity Flop traits, using 4t2 icons
Increased texture size for all traits, so they look a bit nicer in Sims' inventories - these went from 128x64 to 256x128 (preview below the cut)
9 new traits to complement the above sets
New icons for some "bonus" traits like @tammyhybrid21's Alien trait and @midgethetree's Fairy trait, plus 8 new completer bonus traits
Mesh swap of Simlogical's Prisoner Tag to fit the same format as the traits
Optional renamed traits (included in a separate folder with credits where applicable)
Trait randomizer program using Hook's RandomStuff
All traits use their original GUIDs and file names so you can just replace them in your downloads folder if you have the originals. You may need to manually refresh thumbnails in-game to see the new icons.
‼️The collection file is required - these objects will not show up in the catalog. If you are new to using traits, you also MUST have the trait_MAIN file from the original traits project post.
It's been ages since I shared anything and I started this project months ago, so it's highly possible I made a mistake somewhere. Let me know if you run into any issues!

Just wanted to show a neighborhood that I'm working on in TS2. Honestly I'm a bit embarrassed to post this because I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to be doing...but it's fun!
