A few words from the students of Fort Greene Preparatory Academy . . .
“My favorite thing about the museum was how the people that work here treat the people that come to visit the museum.”
“My first thoughts about the museum changed from my first visit . . . the museum is so interesting.”
“I wish that I could have explored the whole museum more!”
“Well, at first I thought it would be boring, but now it’s very interesting.”
“My favorite thing about the museum was just being here.”
“I don’t have a least favorite thing [about the museum or program] because it was so fun.”
“I do feel more welcome because everyone was just so homey.”
Here is our culminating skit. Please enjoy!
During our time at BLDG 92 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, we listened to Oral Histories of people who worked at the yard during World War II. We used some of the quotes we listened to, and created a play based on the information about women and people of color. Here are some photographs from our dress rehearsal.
Here is one of our skits demonstrating how women were treated at the Navy Yard during World War II . . .
Today, created skits about women's experience at the Brooklyn Navy Yard during World War II.
On 10/29/2015, we discovered a Dry Dock1. Built in 1851, it is one of the oldest, working Dry Docks in the Northeast.</p>

Fall 2015: World War II
Seventh and eighth grade students from Fort Greene Preparatory Academy are discovering the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s World War II history via walking tours, exploration of exhibits and oral histories by people who were there. Visit us over the next seven Thursdays and watch their journey.
