I saw on insta this morning a reel of a woman who's been hosting a dinner party for friends for the past two years show snap shots of the parties each month for the last year. and I'm interested in that in general, I'd like to start hosting more. so I go into the comments and there are just some rank ass ppl saying things like "oh so you're rich rich" and "some of us don't have money." Is it fun living so miserably?

maybe this is abstract but I think this is fallout from phone addiction fr. it's easy to say "well I'm burnt out at the end of the day" about scrolling on your phone rather than doing hobbies if you're so addicted you'd be doing it anyway. and it will suck up time. you will lose skills. and I'm not saying this on a high horse, we're all struggling with it right now including me. But if you're not deliberately working on distancing yourself from phone addiction, you will spend your life watching other people have lives and think that the only barrier is your own unavoidable situation in life. girl I think it's you actually. you can make some sandwiches and ask some friends over.

I like sav brown fine but I do find it incredibly depressing that women with good instincts can’t even be relied upon anymore to name what something is. maybe not the male gaze which is a film studies term I believe, but this phenomenon has been written of elsewhere and ‘eroticism’ doesn’t exist separately from power relations. it’s like a bog standard feminist observation about female self-surveillance under patriarchy…

also it’s accurate to talk of the self-surveillance inspired by abrahamic religions but that is also an aspect of the patriarchy and class control. organised religion, of all things, does not exist outside of political and social reality either! I’m in a bit of despair at how the current culture seems to cause otherwise very intelligent women to reject any form of self-criticism of their own practices and ideas. people are obsessed with ideas of identity and personality type, ‘personal development’ and growth, but there is so much effort put towards always being 100% fine with everything you ever choose to do, to never consider how those choices are conditioned or constrained, to never turn the critical eye inwards. anyways this isn’t really about this one person, it just made me think how depressing it all is. and now I need to go out and take a walk.

To lesbians who struggle with their same-sex attraction. Female homosexuality is a beautiful, natural thing! Something that is often completely erased and ignored. Never be afraid of who you are. Shine brightly this month, and always.

Lesbians deserve more! Better stories, better media, better writing, better acknowledgement of their existence that it is possible for a woman to love ONLY other women. If you are an artist, a writer, a creator, create art about the love of two women. DO IT. Write their stories and write your life.
