Love is Stored in the Written Word

Long centuries pass swiftly in peacetime. Eregion opens, blooms, thrives under my careful eye. My beloved Celeborn is ever at my side. It finally feels safe to carry another into our lives, a child, silver-haired and beautiful. I write in the shade of a great oak that perhaps, has seen nearly as many winters as I have. I write histories lest my sorry excuse of a family fall into legend, forgotten by all who came after. I write poems, love scribbled into every stroke of my pen. We have lived through so much, but now it is time to rest.

Celedriel Week - Day 1 - The Heart Stirs

(this is meant to be a set of drabbles and double-drabbles with TRoP in its root and taking some liberties with the lore)

Thrice he's seen her weep in the three Ages that he’s known her.

The first time was at the dawn of their friendship, before she was Galadriel, before he was hers. Her brothers still lived, and the Shadow was besieged in the North, yet he once found her curled onto herself in a hidden glade, weeping silently, hopelessly, inconsolably. Although new to this land and distraught, she seemed strangely at peace with the place, or rather the forest at peace with her, offering her the comfort of its soft grasses, and solid branches, and sweet flowers, and Celeborn. 

He stepped on a dry twig to make his presence known, and when she stirred but didn’t startle he approached, descended into the embrace of white clover next to her and wrapped a cautious arm around her hunched shoulders. So they sat until her tears ran out and her voice returned, and he wondered how much of her sorrow was the grief of the exile and the memories of the Ice haunting her and how much of it was foresight that he’d suspected in her, but he dared not ask, and guessed that for her there might have been no certain answer.
