“And if you’ll give me 40% of the MOST POPULAR VOTE, I’ll give you my SPECIAL REWARD... A year’s supply of NON-GLOOBY SLIME!!! Never or BARELY used!!!” Tenna concluded his speech with a huge smile, jetting his hands up in double peace signs.
The crowd roared in confused enthusiasm as Tenna gave a gracious flurry of low-FPS bows, pausing only for the occasional stink-nose at his audience plants who weren’t throwing enough 3D roses.
Eventually, the room fell silent. It was Senshi’s turn to speak.
He puffed out his chest, took a long, sweeping look over the audience… and shook his head.
“I can see not all of you are eating properly.”
The crowd murmured with embarrassment.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s time to take the turkey out of your icebox. I have seen the ingenious technology with which your people store food... and I have also seen the waste which results from such convenience.
“The food you take had a life. Beasts grew fat on the grass of the field, plants grew from the sun’s rays, and mushrooms grew from minerals in the cracks of caves. And yet, it sits in your iceboxes, collecting moisture until it perishes.
“Eat what is given to you. Because its life will make you stronger, too.”
Without another word, Senshi left his podium and stepped away from the stage. The crowd murmured in confusion. “Is he really like that?” somebody said. “I only remember reblogging the photosets of him tripping and showing ass.”

Back in the Green Room, Tenna wrung his antennas nervously.
“Y-y-you think they liked me!? They HAD to!! I mean, I don’t know what Asgore was thinking, getting that weird haircut and running that food waste campaign, but… YOU thought I did good, didn’t you, Kris?”
Laios nodded aggressively, a streak of blue face paint peeling from his forehead.
“You did AMAZING, Tenna! By the way, now that we’ve seen all your insider campaign secrets, do you have any more videos of Susie? Especially her tail... If I could get a look at that, I could finally tell if she’s a dinosaur or --”
THWACK. Fake antlers butted Laios’s head.
“LAIOS?? Weren’t we dressed up to help SENSHI???” Marcille hissed, gesturing awkwardly with her hooves.
Suddenly, Tenna turned to the two adventurers.
“Hey, WAIT a second. SOMETHING’s not right here...”
Laios and Marcille held their breath.
“Where the heck are my POINTS!?”
Just then, the door opened. Chilchuck took one step into the room, whistling and holding a large bag.
Everyone turned to him.
Chilchuck paused, took a step backwards, and closed the door.
“CHILCHUCK!!!” yelled Tenna.
“How come Chilchuck got to stay Chilchuck!?” yelled Marcille at the same time.

I'm either Crazy or I know where the Weird Route is going (Partially)
Okay so I was thinking about a certain part of the Weird Route and a realization dawned on me, and the more I thought about it the more convinced I became.
I may have gone completely insane. I might be entirely off base here. But the pieces just kept clicking into place.
Susie is coming back on Weird.
She just is. And, I know how it's happening. Maybe. Hear me out. Please.
Okay, so, for starters, what physically happened in Chapter 5 Weird?
This is really speculative and up for debate, and if you disagree with this, you'll probably disagree with the rest of this post (but, hey, please hear me out...) but here goes: I think we entered the Shelter.
We skipped into Chapter 7 somehow. I think that means we ended up in the Shelter. I think the Shelter connects to the Lake somehow (something that people theorized back in the 3-4 days) and I think we used that connection to get into the Shelter.
So, we're skipping ahead in the story, thus why we need Chapter 7B to continue, because, we skipped to Chapter 7 territory.
Alright? Cool. So, hear me out.
Consider Susie's POV.
Kris and Noelle just vanished out of nowhere. Oh shit. Panic Mode.
I do not think she would immediately assume they went into the lake. She def didn't see it happen, judging by aborted weird.
She has no clue what happened, and I don't think Susie is following the breadcrumb trail.
So... WTF does she do. Kris and Noelle are both gone, the two people she felt she could maybe rely on, and Berdly, the only other person she knows knows about the DW, is hospitalized.
I don't think Ralsei would have good advice either. He would be supportive but I kind of don't think he'd really know what to do either.
…So... what does Susie do? The more I think about it, the more I feel there's one true answer.
She does the thing that she keeps saying she wants to do- Tell Someone. She keeps bringing this idea up. She mentions it at the end of 3, and a few times in 5. She suggests we could get someone to tell us how the Shelter works, she suggests finding someone to keep watch at Flower King when we get kicked out, and at the very end, she resolves to tell Noelle. Kris manages to keep her from enacting that plan in 5 by mentioning the back door, but, clearly Susie was willing to do it.
So… I think in this situation, completely alone, she would make the same call. Something serious is happening, she needs help. So, who, precisely, does she tell?
Not Toriel.
Toriel is, well, I don't exactly think Susie wants to see Toriel right now, and I think Susie would reason that there's not much Toriel could do. She would just worry. It'd be a shame to make her bury her child. She wouldn't put that pressure on Toriel, and Toriel is a known target of the knight. Off the table. I do not think Susie is going to her.
Also, not Carol.
Carol is… well, Susie doesn't know Carol that well, and maybe they're on… slightly? better terms on weird, but, I suspect that Susie would not really "trust" Carol, especially since she might be blamed for whatever happened to Noelle. Carol is extremely intimidating. So not Carol either.
So. Who. Who can she go to.
You see, the realization I had, that dawned one me, the horrifying truth.
There is one person in town that I think Susie could conceivably decide to tell.
Motherfucking.
Asgore. Dreemurr.
She does not know him well but at minimum seems to know he's Kris' dad, and she at minimum would probably have met him during the festival, where he would have seemed a nice person. She also, conveniently, met him during weird at Holiday Manor, where he inadvertently interrupted her attempts at getting the Guitar Code.
She does not know his past, and so has no reason to distrust him.
So she goes to him, as like, the one adult she maybe can confide in who is close to Kris/Noelle who might be able to have advice. It's not... perfect, but, who else does she know that she might even remotely trust?
So, she goes to Asgore, and attempts to explain her story, that, well, okay, you're not going to believe this, but, there's a really weird alternate world, and...
...Well, in that moment, everything changes.
Because Asgore Dreemurr just so happens to be the one motherfucker in this town who would not only immediately believe her, but also have information of his own. He would, obviously, IMMEDIATELY take interest in Susie's story, add it to his existing notes, and they would both probably conclude that The Roaring Knight must have taken Kris and Noelle, like it tried to take Toriel, like it took Undyne, and like it (as far as Asgore would conclude, at least) took Dess all those years ago.
Given that Ralsei would not sense any Dark Fountains, the only conclusion is that they're in the shelter. And luckily, Asgore Also happens to be the one motherfucker in town who can actually get Susie into the shelter.
He has the Police Code. He may even know the other codes. Even if he doesn't, he has the capacity to act on Susie's knowledge of the guitar code and get himself, and probably at least knows where the DELTA RUNE code would be.
Maybe Asgore would also go to Carol, and I do think Carol is part of the knightspiracy as the Caller... but at this point, Asgore has basically the evidence he needs to prove the Dark World exists, nothing Carol could say or do would really matter and I don't think she'd try and physically fight him.
Even if he couldn't get the codes himself for whatever reason, I straight up believe Asgore would kick the door in somehow. If he thought Kris was down there, in danger, that Undyne was down there, in danger, I think there would be nothing anyone in hometown could possibly do to keep him out of that shelter. Maybe he rams his truck against the doors or something, I don't know, He's Getting In.
And this... is how Susie is going to get into the Shelter.
This is how Susie comes back into the story.
I realized this all in a moment of horror when I tried to consider what Susie would realistically do with the information she has, and the realization that she probably would try and tell someone hit. And then I realized that the person that she probably would tell, given everything that happened, is probably Asgore... and that Asgore also happens to be the one person in Hometown who would not only immediately believe her story but would also have the means necessary to immediately get her into the shelter... it just feels perfect.
This line in Chapter 4 has mystified theorists for the 3-4 era, because, it kind of seems like the person she is describing here is Asgore. We know he goes to church late at night, he def has something to do with the cops, and he knows the mayor pretty closely... but why? Why is it phrased like this? Why??
I think the Why is because this is Weird Route Foreshadowing.
In weird, he is the key to getting in, and the key to Susie following us.
Trust in the plan.
Susie is coming back.
Also, maybe Asgore will get some aura.
( Or maybe I'm entirely crazy and we're going Nowhere and Susie will never be seen again. )
The existence of Plantners/Flowerners/whatever people are calling them is slowly making me go mad... There's something here about the Earth, I just know it. Like here's another character with their heart in the sand, in a weird grey area between Lightner and Darkner and whose level of sentience is muddled due to the influence of darkness.
How much the Suselle lake scene had all this talk of each other's heartbeats is also pretty suspicious. You can hear something like a heartbeat in the background of the Vessel creation section that probably takes place in the depths or somewhere adjacent considering the background image, then you have heartbeats being prominently mentioned while they're at the LAKE? Where you can hear the song coming from the sea??
I just don't know how far they're going to get into taking apart the nature of the dark worlds and darkness. I HOPE they get into the entry number 17 business and all, and every chapter so far has revealed more and more about it or at least introduces concepts made to get you to dwell on that nature (Winglade the sword/enemy, the sentience of the sword route enemies), but entertaining the Earth as a person is the furthest possible extent of all that. Still leaves the question of who the darkheart belongs to (if that's a thing beyond merch...) and why so much emphasis on the planet dying when just describing the Roaring/calamity gets the job done.
The reveal about the black shard being at the original scene interests me (from a DessKnight perspective). I had this idea that Dess gradually transformed into the Knight as a result of being in the darkness & the unused dialogue in this chapter further contributed to this since the person becoming a collection of memory seemed to fit with the shadow crystals being lost dreams and the Knight being made of them (+ the black shards).
Of course, that new information puts a dent in this idea. I do think that the unused dialogue's wording is pretty strong evidence for the Knight literally being Dess's body instead of simply armor, or a different person entirely, but now I'm entertaining the idea that at one point it was just armor/a dark world form before she merged with it.
Whatever the case, I don't think the shelter dark fountain existing since the incident disproves DessKnight like some people seem to believe. I just have to figure out a way to rework my theories to fit that in, but I don't think Dess discovering/creating the dark worlds is what needs to be rethought, only the circumstances surrounding it.
I think I'd have felt better about DR Chapter 5 if Susie was characterized to feel weird and uneasy during the entirety of it.
It's the festival and everyone feels so happy - doesn't anybody know about the prophecy? Aren't they worried that there's a Roaring Knight on the loose who might bring about the end of the world? And in the Flower King Dark World, she's like, this is great and all, but she's really put off by Flowery's optimism because hello? Asgore is in a dangerous spot to be! The Knight could be here at any moment!
With this change, we don't really have to miss out on the "fun" parts of the adventure, but it still gives a smoother, more logical transition from the previous chapter. We can still have the Suselle date and confession, but Susie's mind is elsewhere, so she's pretty much going along with whatever Kris or Noelle says, and it dampens Noelle's mood since she's been looking forward to this. We can have the seven flowers, but Susie isn't going along with Flowery's shenanigans, instead she's acting as some form of mediator between Ralsei and Flowery, e.g. "I agree he's suspicious but he's not that bad, maybe we can ask him nicely for information?"
Also with Kris and Susie alone, she could voice out a lot of what Kris feels about the prophecy too: that she's watching everyone go by, doing their thing, unaware of the danger they're about to face, but the power to change anything only ever lies in the hands of three heroes who barely has anything to go off of, that with the Fun Gang being this distracted they might be even bringing the world closer to doom or something like that.
But later on, she decides to go along with the flow, because there's nothing they can do. The prophecy will occur, regardless of what they choose to do or not do. They don't have information on the shelter or the Roaring Knight, so they can't really do much at this point.
Of course, reality stings when the Knight appears, and she feels all the more helpless than before.
And after they close the Dark World, Susie feels like garbage for wanting some fun. When she and Kris walk slowly through the post-festival mess, she doesn't ask to be walked "home", she asks to go to Castle Town specifically and invites Kris to stay with. [Kris declines even if the player chooses to stay, because it's time to retire the soul for the day and proceed with Knightly plans.] Despite herself, Susie relishes in what fun and comfort Castle Town offers, because it feels like the Knight could snatch it away from her at any moment.
The Knight is the “fallen star” referenced in the chapter 4 egg room, and is also the person with a gash in their eye in the (so far) unused code.
If you’re unaware, there is a “strange book” in the Egg Room that has a poem referencing a crying fallen star. There is another poem that is (currently) unused within the code, that talks about someone who has a gash in their eye.
First, I’m going to bite into the fallen star and why it’s the Knight (Dess).
Since Dess is the Knight I think that we should reference the imagery we have related to her so far and compare it to this. We’ve been told that the dark crystals are so translucent that they resemble glass and are made of determination, or, “will.”
We already know how Gerson says the Knight tried to give him a shadow crystal and he refused it. So, we know this “something that looked like glass” is likely a shadow crystal. We also know the Knight tends to give these out, and that the Knight also drops a shadow crystal herself when we fight her in chapter 3.
Still not convinced? Well, if you look at Dess’ room and the Knight’s attacks, you’ll see they both have a lot of stars. In fact, quite literally, all of her attacks are typed as Dark/Star. Not to mention how Black Knife has a ton of twinkling sound effects.
The main argument I see for Gaster as the “Fallen Star” is that Gaster is tied to the Devil. Lucifer means morning star in Latin, and there are a ton of myths— most prominently the modern Christian Devil— where a figure associated with the morning star (which, is a reference to the planet Venus) descends from the sky. While Gaster is tied to the devil as Lucifer in a sense, if Toby wanted us to think of Gaster as a star character he would’ve done so already. Maybe he could have had the Gaster Followers make a more explicit reference to stars when they explain who he is, or, anything with Gaster as a star and he chose not too. Meanwhile a huge chunk of mentions of Dess we have so far are absolutely loaded with stars.
But, what about the gash?
I thought this was Gaster at first too. He also has cuts in his eyes. But, the usage of crying here made me think more of the Fallen Star, Dess. So I got curious, and I asked a Japanese friend of mine about what this poem translated as, and there’s more specificity in the line about the “gash.”
The gash line is given more context then it is in english. パックリ割れた means split wide open, not just a cut. If we look at Gaster,
Gaster’s eyes here don’t really seem to be split wide open. They have scars in them, but it doesn’t seem to be graphic or bad a wound enough to imply that it was quite literally split open. None of the cuts are complete, they are not “wide open.”
But, what of the Knight?
Notably, the Knight is missing an eye. We have never seen the Knight have more then one eye on her face. If someone’s eye was split wide open, it would make sense for that eye to no longer be in it’s socket. If we already know Dess has crying as a motif, then… it’d make sense.
(Also— I have much more to say about DessKnight as Lucifer moreso then Gaster, but it gets into weird complex religious history. I’ll make that if there’s an audience but I don’t know if that exists lol)
Only stumbling upon this post now, but yesssss someone gets it. I think the Knight being the fallen star is more popular, but this is the first time I'm seeing somebody else attribute the Knight to the gash poem.
To add onto that: In that sprite, Gaster has two cuts on his eyes. It was easy to say the poem was about him when we had no one else, but looking at it now it sure is weird that it's "a cut"/"the gash" when he has two. The Knight's visor-mouth-eye-gash-thing fits the bill just fine though.
That last line is also interesting in the context of the Knight. "The pain itself is reason why." brings to mind the Memoryheads and their Latin text which translates to "pain itself teaches." I can't remember if there was anything else, but most notably the Memoryheads can talk through the phone (notable assuming the caller is the Knight) and can give you the bad memory item, when the unused text (& being made of shadow crystals thing) seems to suggest that the Knight is just a collection of memories.
