Which do you prefer: Lunar Flare or Last Prism?

i’m not really a magic guy, i think both of em are really cool, but i probably prefer the lunar flare. i love the visuals and that’s kinda the extent of my knowledge

as a fan of magic, I would say that it's a complicated issue. the lunar flare is at its best if you and your target are standing still, but it does have some use in crowds. meanwhile, the last prism does heavy damage if you have the mana to use it constantly, but otherwise it's a good way to force an otherwise evasive enemy to take damage.

lunar flare's more of a boss killer with some crowd control, last prism is more crowd control with a good deal of boss killing thrown in (but a heavy mana cost for it to peak).

haven't used either of them in PvP though, so I can't speak on how they fare there. if I had to guess, with how evasive players get at their peaks, the last prism is probably better?

i have played a lot more magic since first posting this and yeah i can definitely say that it is now a complicated issue for me too. i do really like the last prism, i think it’s a fun weapon with a cool visual gimmick, but it does eat through your mana SO fast. lunar flare gets additional points for versatility and being able to hit through blocks. i think the last prism is more fun but less variable while the lunar flare is more lax but also more practical

my favorite part of early hardmode as a summoner has to be hearing clinking metal from offscreen, saying “that better not have been a mimic,” and not a moment later seeing a massive biome-specific chest launch itself across the screen directly at my head
