the unwanteds is such a weird fucking series because multiple plot elements feel like they should be part of an edgy deconstruction of middle-grade literature but are just played completely unironically

You know how we call things "pseudoscience"... the media analysis that's being done on twitter and tumblr should be pseudohumanities

I'm sure there is a coherent, considered way to be anti-porn. But none of the anti-porn people commenting very aggressively on my post are even attempting to present it. They are by a wide-margin the most aggressively anti-intellectual group on this platform. Which is surprising to me, but literally, comparing the comments I get on that post to the comments I get on literally anything else, the difference is night and day. I mean, go look for yourself, it's fucking wild. Even the fascists and TERFs generally try to argue with me, these people just... freak out. And my post is not particularly out there, it's quite tepid! I'm not even getting into issues like BDSM or anything.
I have a few hypothesies for why this could be, and they're all quite sad and troubling.
I think the problem is people conflating live-action porn, especially that which portrays violence against women, with any and all depictions of sexual content in any context.
just realized I named my mcs after 2/3 of the home movies cast
The funniest part of the "Worm fandom killed thousands of people" post is the OP accidentally calling Wildbow Tom.
Apparently she was repeatedly banned from Reddit for mental-illness-induced rants, so it's possible the Worm thing to also be mental illness related.
the scariest thing about old tv isnt really the racism or the sexisim because you kinda go in braced for that it's all the scenes where suddenly an actress is holding a lion cub or a chimpanzee is in the same room as a toddler, or suddenly theres a lion, or there's a chimpanzee again but it's driving a car, or holding a lighter, or holding fireworks. You just kind of watch in horror as over and over an actress performs with only 1960s tv film shootings best animal handling between her and the opening to Nope.
This is how I learn that the famous chimp my dad got my nickname from tried to kill Reagan. Fuck yeah.

I'm rereading the Rick Riordan books as part of writing my own Percy Jackson pastiche and he really likes the word rendesvouz, huh?
Obviously you shouldn't be cruel to people for traits they can't control, but I feel like a lot of people's takeaway from that is it's okay to bully people for traits they can control which is also probably not good I think
Like the former is useful in the context of rights for POC/women/LGBTQ ppl/disabled ppl/etc but, like, all bullying is bad.

double whammy learning Carlos Mencia has been arrested for tax fraud after dodging em for at least 6 years and also that his name is actually Ned Holness
what do i do with any of this information
Part of the reason he fell off I think was that it started getting around in 2007ish that his real name was Ned and he wasn't Mexican which made his Mexican jokes seem a lot more offensive. (Nobody gave a shit if you spent half your set making fun of people with learning disabilities back then, though.)
There was a period in the 2000s where stand-up comedians were greatly rewarded for creating an entirely fictional story about their lives. Jeff Foxworthy of “Blue Collar Comedy” and “you might be a redneck…” fame is named Jeffrey Marshall Foxworthy. His dad was an IBM executive and he was raised in the largest city in the South
