She claimed that she was fine, and Ace said nothing even though he knew it wasn’t true, providing her with the silent comfort of his touch until she was ready to talk. Tess didn’t cry - never allowed herself to. She’d tear up and clench her jaw and he’d wait with her until she calmed down. It was one of the many silent understandings that they shared. So that’s exactly what he did, and after a few moments and few deep breathes, she spoke. And he was horrified. “Hey,” he chastised, as if he was personally offended by her words. “Don’t say that, you can’t think like that, Tess.” He turned towards her, his eyes meeting hers seriously. His jaw was locked, and his expression explained that there was no room for her argument.
Tess shook her head, half pulling away from him at his chiding and half curling closer to him, seeking both space for her pride and comfort for her sorrow. It would be selfish of her to take advantage of his closeness, and she knew that, but she didn't feel she had much of a choice in the wake of all that had happened. There was too much they hadn't - wouldn't - talk about, but she was grateful that this wasn't one of them. "What else am I supposed to say?" Her voice broke, and she hated herself for it. "I can't protect them, Ace, I can't. You know that. You've seen that. And you still stand by me, and I can't tell you how grateful I am for that but Ace," she rattled on, shaking her head and nearly gulping breaths down, "I don't know what I'm supposed to do. This isn't something I can just stand and fight. This isn't a monster in the dark scaring Daphne that I can fix with a nightlight and a bedtime story. This is real danger that's going to get them all killed, and I can't do anything to stop it." She'd never felt more helpless in her life, and now that she had started, she couldn't seem to stop talking. "This isn't what our lives were supposed to be like. We were supposed to be happy. Daphne and Paige should be worrying about school and boys and clothes and what they want to major in, and Tyler should be going out with girls and saving up for his first car. Our parents should still be here. You should be -- " Her breath hitched. "You should be thriving, Ace. You should be falling in love and getting ready to start your own family, not -- not sitting here watching me fail my coven."

Tyler: Jeez, no need to blow up my phone with all that. All you had to say was we're gonna have a party.
Tyler: But yeah, count me in.
Tess: Tyler this is your brother. This is a big deal.
Tess: Good. I'll have you start the decorations.
Are people even going to do Halloween in this town?
Or would it be seen as one big joke?
I've been thinking about trying to get my coven to go as the Addams family, but we've already done that before, and I think they're getting too old for it.
Give 'em Hex | Naomi, Tess, & Stella
Stella had been lounging by herself, enjoying her day. She felt like she did everything that needed to be done, work was going great, and her coven was just how she liked it despite little Naomi’s betrayal. Of course, Tess Danvers had to ruin it. She heard the witch enter Ford Entertainment and straight towards her. God, she didn’t need to be so dramatic. Stella gets up from where she was lounging, fluffs her hair a bit, and looks at Tess with a blank expression. She knew exactly what Tess was talking about, but like everything else she has ever done in her life, she would be dammed if she ever confessed to doing it. “Tess, what a pleasant surprise!” She twisted her face into a confused expression and looked at her with slight concern. “What are you talking about? I haven’t messed with your little coven, I’ve been working.”
Naomi wiped more sweat from her brow and rolled onto her back to try and get some sleep. She tossed and turned, thinking the tea just hadn’t kicked in yet. She couldn’t stay in one position for more than a moment and was starting to give up on the idea since she couldn’t seem to get herself to calm down. Then she grimaced slightly and put her hand to her chest; she could feel it tightening and her breaths were growing shorter. “Dom?” she called out weakly. “Dom?!" she tried yelling, her voice hoarse. She waited but heard no noise or movement in the house. She figured he’d left during one of her fits on sleep, so instead reached over for her cell phone. She paused a moment when she realized her outstretched hand was shaking, which only made her more frantic. She had to get to a hospital or something; this was clearly more than the flu and was getting worse fast. She shot a text to Tess: It’s getting worse. I don’t know where Dom went, so I think I’m gonna drive myself to the hospital.
"You'd think someone with your reputation would be a better liar," Tess shot back heatedly, fury making the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. She knew she should be calm, knew she should be cool and cold and collected, but righteous anger had taken over her system. Naomi was hurt, it was Stella's doing, and Tess was seeing red. "I know you put that hex on her. No one else is that powerful, or that stupid. So she left your coven, big fucking deal! Undo what you did," she warned, pointing a finger at Stella, "or so help me god I will--"
Tess broke off as her phone buzzed loudly in her pocket, and checked her texts to see Naomi's message. She swore loudly, shaking her head and hurriedly typing a response. Don't leave the house. You can't drive in the condition you're in. I'll send Ace out for you or come home myself, but don't leave. She hoped the message would get sent to Naomi before the blonde got off the couch and seriously hurt herself. As it was, it sent Tess closer to panicking. "You made a mistake, Stella Ford, and now you have to fix it."

Daphne: Tyler said my cake chipped his tooth last year. Is that true? Are my cakes bad?
Daphne: You'd tell me if my cakes were bad right.
Tess: It's not your fault Tyler has poor dental hygiene. Don't you worry your pretty head over it, Daph.
Tess: Well...no. Probably not. But I /would/ pawn the cake job off on Dominic and Paige and give you a new task if your cakes were bad.
Tess: Your cakes are wonderful.

Paige: THANK YOU
Paige: I'M REALLY EXCITED AND OBVS IN
Tess: You and Daphne are obviously in charge of the cake because hot wheels.
Tess: I'm still laughing. Hot wheels. This is brilliant.
Tess: ALSO DON'T SAY ANYTHING TO ACE I WANT TO SURPRISE HIM.
Tess: I mean I know he knows we're going to do something but it's the principal of the thing.

Daphne: Of course I make Ace a cake every year. Even if its a little lopsided.
Tess: I know you do, but I just thought I'd ask. I didn't want to assume and shove work onto you.
Tess: I like it lopsided. So does Ace.

Paige: We should bake a rainbow cake
Paige: Except instead of the rainbow just different shades of red and orange and yellow for flames for the icing
Paige: WE SHOULD PUT HOT WHEELS ON IT
Paige: HOT WHEELS DO YOU GET IT TESS
Tess: HOT WHEELS FOR THE HOTSHOT
Tess: PAIGE YOU'RE A GENIUS

Daphne: Count me in.
Tess: Thank goodness.
Tess: I'm thinking I'll make the ravioli, you and Paige bake the cake, Tyler and Dominic do the heavy lifting, and Naomi decorates.
Tess: Yes/yes?

Tess: EVERYONE LISTEN UP
Tess: As I'm sure you're all aware, Ace's birthday is this Friday. I know it's been crazy and...not the happiest of times lately...but this is Ace, and this is a big deal.
Tess: I was thinking we could surprise him at the restaurant with balloons and banners and a cake and ravioli - you know it's his favorite - so he doesn't have to cook for anyone. We could throw a little party for him there, shut it down for the evening and let him have a night to relax with his family.
Tess: All in favor?

✕ - How do they handle rejection?
Tess prides herself on being able to handle many things well, and rejection is one of those things. She gets sad, of course, but she also understands not everyone wants her company, love, affection, or help every single minute of the day.
♕ - Do they trust easily?
Too easily. Tess would put a life in a stranger's hand if that stranger promised her safety, and she has in fact done just that. Tess believes the best in people no matter what. It saved Dominic from a lifetime of guilt and self loathing, and gave him a family, but it may be her undoing with her loyalty to Erik.
