today i’m sad about that one line from the creator’s commetary about how zuko is a tsungi horn prodigy and the little letter zuko, aged 7, sends iroh in “legacy of the fire nation” where he very politely requests that iroh come home and teach him pai sho tricks, because that casts such a different light on their interactions in book one.  it was never iroh trying to push his own favorite things - pai sho and music night - on an uninterested zuko, it was iroh desperately trying to reconnect with zuko by recreating the activities he knows zuko used to enjoy.  zuko, aged 7, once begged iroh to come home and play board games with him and now zuko wants nothing to do with him and you know that eats iroh up alive

when people make fun of balkan and specific eastern european countries for being broke and "not as good as western european countries" i.e. Britain, France, Germany, I just think to these maps:

do you notice a general correlation between those richer and "nicer" countries? and why they're such "pretty" and "ideal" and "go-to" destinations today?

The more I look at this map, the more I wonder what counts as a colony? Like: the USSR was Russia and her 15 colonies. And the Warsaw Pact was. Uh. Well Poland, east Germany, Hungry, et Al were also basically colonies.

And that's before we get to Greece, which had colonies all over the Mediterranean... Which then got gobbled up by Rome.

Firstly I want to say the whole idea that Eastern Europe is not as pretty as the Western Europe is patently ridiculous:

Here is Talinn, Estonia

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Bizarrely, Czechia is one of the orange-no-colonies countries that apparently nobody wants to visit despite having Prague in it

And everyone knows how gorgeous Greece is

Santorini, Greece

I'm not saying there's no economic disparity in these countries or that they haven't been exploited by their richer neighbors, but they're not grim or grey or unattractive. They're beautiful places that are on every travel website in Europe as "must see" destinations (that has its own problems but you get my point).

Also I'm baffled by the colonies thing too. Italy had 7 colonies? Are we not counting the entire Roman empire?? When does something count as a colony? If it's long enough ago does it just not count?

(TL;Dr yes colonising other countries grants you economic benefits but the idea that the Eastern European countries are "not as good as Western Europe" is bizarre, untrue, and ridiculous.)

i just find it amazing how butches who aren’t attracted to other butches, butches who aren’t attracted to femmes, and femmes who aren’t attracted to other femmes almost never say anything…

lesbians aren’t attracted to femininity, if we were then we would be attracted to feminine men, which would make us not lesbians. lesbians are attracted to women and those who find comfort identifying their gender within sapphic communities, no matter the way that they socially present. that is the way it has always been and the way it will always be.

all you’re doing is taking what you think is an opportunity for you to not be called out for talking shit about masculine sapphics. this isn’t about your personal preference, it’s about the fact that you thought calling butches and masculine sapphics ugly and passing it off as if it exists in a vacuum because it’s your personal preference and you think you’re the most important person in the world.

As a person who lives here, Wisconsin is gerrymandered so badly that despite only having like 26% of the vote if you consider the entire state, Republicans control the legislature so completely that they do whatever they want. It's so disheartening to live here, because even though most Wisconsinites, especially in the incredibly progressive cities of Milwaukee and Madison, disagree completely with the state government, due to gerrymandering and discriminatory election processes, the state is stuck in the dark ages.
