the first thought in this mind is that this man is rather intimdating. the second turns to be that his face is quite visually appearing (does he have to put it that way?), but he shakes that away as soon as it appears.
“ ah... preferably this vendor, but if you have any particularly strong opinions, there's nothing stopping me from moving around a little, ” he says quite easily. nothing stopping him apart from the things that are - but alas, that's not the point right now.
his wings move from their slightly spread position to arranging themselves a little more curled. odd. he had intended to use a touch of tuning to make people focus on them less - not invisible, but for their minds to instinctively draw attention away from them. it does not seem to work on him.
sunday shakes his head. “ i do not believe i have tried it, no, ” he confirms. “ it's my first time in liyue - although, i do fear that's a little obvious. ” with a chuckle that's slightly awkward, in an easy sort of way, “ i've tried sumeran and fontainian; ah, and snezhnayan. all rather different from each other. ” perhaps he will go to each nation and collect the tea from there. like the avatar. the last teabender.
“ though, from what i've seen, it does seem similar to other sorts i've tried - ” stuff that the express bought from the xianzhou, but he can't say that. “ - i'm not sure though, of course. ”
A NICE YOUNG MAN, IT SEEMS. BUT THE CONSULTANT CANNOT HELP BUT BE DRAWN TO THE WINGS. it . . . does not bring unpleasant memories to surface, but it makes him wonder a bit. there is something odd- but he's hardly one to reject the need of someone who is so curious. haha, the two of them are similar indeed.
“ you seem quite fond of tea yourself. ” the consultant states, hand to his chin in thought. “ do you have any preference from the three you've tried? i can recommend you something based on that. ”
he is observant - the young man, that is. fair skinned and his hair. . . one could think he is from snezhnaya, but he lacks the accent and the foreign style is not of snezhnaya either. it reminds him of the traveler, almost. he wonders how the traveler and paimon fare in the world for a brief moment before shaking the thought away with fondness.
“ i am personally fond of osmanthus tea. ” Zhongli says mindfully.
starter for @teyvatiannights ; zhongli
sunday shouldn't be staying in liyue for too much longer, he thinks. or at least, he doesn't plan to - times change, of course, and he's trying to be a little less structured with his life nowadays. (that way, if something goes wrong, he doesn't end up feeling sick to the stumach and wondering what to do with his life.
he's tried most of the big things so far - thanks for the mora, loki - like eating at some nice restaurants, going shopping... that disastrous time he managed to get abysmally lost somewhere in the crack of where the aeons don't want to look... that sort of thing.
it's the tea he's looking for now. he's not entirely sure where he is, again, but at least he knows how to leave this time. he debates at a stall for a little too long - eyes flicking nervously between the options, knowing he's stupidly picky and not willing to take the risk of trying something he won't like. eventually, he attempts to ask someone. some gentleman dressed in browns, looking like he's spent his whole life drinking tea. looking like he invented the concept of tea itself.
“ excuse me, sir, ” he says lightly (then feeling slightly queasy at the rush of some sort of - energy? elemental magic? he's not sure). “ i apologise if this is a little random - are there any teas you would recommend? ” he needs to stop apologising.
THE HARBOR'S NOISE IS A WONDERFUL MELODY OF HIS DAUGHTER'S BOONS. the consultant finds himself beautiful immersed in thinking about the new selection. if he's correct, this batch should've shipped in five days? then it means its around a week old already. even though this is his usual shop, he doesn't find it in himself entirely to buy the usual. perhaps he could just go to third round knock out. . . but their tea isn't much fresher at all.
he's half a step towards the counter when a young man approaches him.
the energy signature is off. Zhongli tenses, not expressing anything as he looks at the person who just bothered his tea shopping. it's clearly a foreigner, so he doesn't expect the young man to know him. . . . . . that apologetic tone reminds him of a few people.
and that question immediately dismisses any offense that the consultant takes.
“ quite a few. ” he hums, neutral expression shifting into something of a small, polite smile. one you might give to a customer you haven't decided if you liked or not. the consultant turns back to the shop, “ are you inquiring for recommendations from this vendor specifically, or any in the harbor? ”
a laugh. he notices the . . . feathers. the wings. his eyes crinkle just a bit too much at the corners. “ i have some favorites i am loyal to. ”
there is hardly a pause, “ have you tried liyuean tea before? it's different from sumeran and inazuman for many reasons. ”

Little did she mind the silence. In uncertain times like these, its hard for the traveling duo to even take a break or have a proper night of sleep, for a multitude of reasons. & Honestly, right now, in a landmark that receives next to no real visitors, its a saving grace to not have to talk so much or feel too on edge.
Lips curves ever so slightly.
''I am sharing, am i not'', barely what one could call a question. Paimon wouldn't have dropped by with abroad items of all kinds, if she didn't felt like giving, regardless of how long they've gotten to know each others.
All shall be well, or so Flins says but it does little to bring comfort.
Its not that she is doubting him for saying so, per say but so long as Rerir or any aftermaths effects choose to persist, the people of Nod-Krai were still in danger.
Though of tragedy to be sure, Sousi's death left behind tensions amidst the citizens living in Nasha Town. And once that peace is at breaking point, there is no telling what the people themselves will do. ''Paimon wouldn't neccessarily call it trouble''.
''Just me and my feelings that even in the aftermath of putting an end to his rampage, i can't help but wonder if there something that really planted the seed of whatever Rerir is trying to accomplish''.
As things are, he was but a complete enigma but there has to be a way to figure how to deal with the core problem. ''We're going to need more help for better chances of success'', if to mostly expose and make use of any potential weaknesses.
@teyvatiannights
“ the whims of the abyss are unknown to us all. ” he says without preamble-- just straight to the point, for once. it isn't denial of paimon's feelings, but the lightkeeper himself isn't particularly well-versed in those anyway. you'd think, someone who was left to wallow in his feelings for so long, he'd be better. haha. no. “ if i was any other man, i'd assume you were asking for details on the life that the sinner led, and if i was that man, i'd humbly redirect you to miss nefer. ”
she was the one who found out, after all. at least, that is what the fae remembers.
Flins makes no move to put down her feelings, instead nodding again. his mind briefly drifts to the candy. he cannot eat them. aino would like them, he thinks, but they are his gifts. it'd be rude to re-deliver. well, candies don't spoil, do they? it will be fine.
“ miss paimon. . . ” it's not agreement. it's not disagreement. the fact the problem still lingered, even if . . . banished, for lack of better term. . . could rerir control the wild hunt from that strange realm beyond? would the wild hunt grow stronger? all things to question. all things to look out for. the lantern fae holds back a miffed expression. . . not that it was hard to do so. . . or that his expressions were particularly vast in the first place. “ help, aid. . . all vague terms. ” he states. but that's not quite right to say. “ allow us to take it slowly, lest we lose ourselves in the process of trying to aid others. . . a candle does not burn without a wick. ”
“ what bothers you, specifically? besides, the turmoil in your head and heart over the sinner. i will not judge. ”
examining the woman, her hooves, her complexion. something within him stirs, a foreign sort of hate. it isn't Morax's. the kind of hatred that runs through his body, each scale etched in divine madness, it's hardly ever his. it's something else. not that he would care for where it came from, because as much as it isn't his hatred to bear it is his to wield.
“ i am here to negotiate for the return of fifteen liyuean criminals who stay in your encampment. ” he deadpans, unmoved by the clear farce. she isn't stupid. Morax doubts any god could be stupid, no matter how low they were. even in the archon war, no god was stupid ( the ones from the war, however, were reckless. ) prepared for recklessness, of course. . . the lord of geo isn't willing to dilly dally on some pathetic scum. his eyes narrow at the woman, not in annoyance but in assessment.
“ of course, ” he waves his hand, otherwise standing tall, if not dismissive of the other god, “ if you would not be willing to negotiate returns, i will be willing to negotiate other terms of compensation, since you . . . ”
another sigh, not suffering, just annoyed he has to point this out. the world beyond liyue is filled with savages, Morax doesn't want there to be any foolish misunderstandings between them. “ . . . are clearly someone with a brain. ”
“ if the criminals are of such importance to you, only. ”
“ now. do you have any demands? ” straight to the point.

his blood is gold that flows through the land. the earth is his flesh that he bends to his will. contracts are the binding which order is held. Morax grieves those of his people— children— that could not understand these things. he, the protector, and the wielder of stone blade, could not discriminate who was punished for not upholding their end of a contract. for not upholding their worship to him.
like how rivers flow, his name invokes many things. Rex Lapis the protector of liyue, to his people. Morax the God of Contracts, to those in barbarian nations beyond liyue’s borders. fear, reverence, terror, security, deference, gratefulness . . .
his name invoked nothing in the people who set camp in the border between his land and that careless god’s. wind is unlike stone, always moving and unstable. their ways are not so barbarian, he’d think, but Morax would never so readily offer praise to the unkempt nations that were not his.
these people are more barbarian.
but smart, he supposes.
they settled there. there are few among them that he can recognize. Morax recognizes his people, even if traitor and unrighteous, no matter what. yet no longer does his name invoke anything.
as if something was greater than him.
there was not. he is the oldest of the seven, second wisest to that child god in the west. what could be greater than him to offer its protection? such great protection, these mortals dare not bow and cower in fealty for his benevolence- that he decided to not chase them into borders not his own?
Morax sent his adeptus to find who it was. this being that those runners and cowards seek protection under.
for this will either become an ally or another moronic, barbarian god who makes their grave in his land.
hear ye, hear ye,
do your eyes see?
the dragon coiled around the mountain?
massive, terrifying, divine?
he who hail of an age where gods born, never died?
heaven’s star, gazes upon your people, divine retribution imminent.
hear ye, hear ye,
the dragon coiled around the mountain,
descends.
draconic features, serpentine and fearsome, smooth over. scales barbed with weapons and flags become flesh embed with his name and soul. many talons become two feet, and large divinity becomes a smaller makeup of something human. the divine one makes way towards this border settlement, weapons not on his person. ill will not carried. not yet.
Morax finds himself face to face with a woman. he says nothing. something of her reeks. it is wrong, somewhat, but he says nothing. not yet.
is this, feeble and so mortal, the one who changed what his name invoked in the minds of fleeing mortals?
woman writing a woman gets all up in arms when someone calls her out. typical.
quick everyone point and laugh
ah.
aha, well. if he's honest, he's less than surprised that was the question - and it's not like he has anything to hide, considering she knows already that he's not from teyvat. (and how would he pretend he was, anyway? with his limited knowledge, inexperience, the fact that she's seen him already - it would have been less than futile.)
finding a way to phrase it without making it sound like he's lost his mind is going to be slightly interesting, though.
“ you're not overstepping - please don't worry, ” he shakes his head, continuing the art of politeness olympics. “ it's just curiosity; how can i blame you for that? ” he says with a light chuckle - light-hearted and easy. just like how he intended it to sound. and really, he doesn't mind - if only he knew clearly for himself, though. that'd make it a little easier.
“ i am not from teyvat, ” he confirms. “ i have been here for - a little more than a few months now, i think. it has not been long. ” sunday needs to start talking in sentences with more than one clause in it. it sounds too short. he is doing this wrong.
right, okay. how is he meant to describe this? “ it was - i'm not entirely sure myself, ” he says, honestly enough. “ a while ago, i left penacony due to- certain circumstances. lost my status. i was travelling when- it felt like a crash, but there was nothing we should have crashed into. just sudden turbulence, an impact and darkness. ”
“ and then i ended up here. ”
that's. . . tragic. honestly. how could one be blamed for curiosity? well, she could. the adepti-- all knowing, all benevolent-- she is neither, she is curious like a mortal, any other, is that a flaw or part of her strengths? Mei does not find him insane. they met through insanity. through dream's indulgence.
“ my condolences. ” Mei states, a pitiful attempt at comfort. she reaches to mimic assurance, then refrains. they are not friends. she doesn't. . . know. but they are merely . . . mutually benefited? her debts repaid, his path found. “ i hope teyvat has treated you well thus far. . . a few months away must be harsh. ” stop talking. stop talking. stop talking.
here for a few months. . . must be how he knew how to handle the mages. it must be . . . hard. she was only there for. . . who knows. Mei recalls time going past a few days in the dream, yet when she awoke only a few hours had passed. time is odd, non-constant. teyvat, from celestia's blessings, is disconnected. “ . . . ”
Mei does not say this.
“ thank you for indulging my question, mister sunday. ”
. . . the harbor should not be far. at least, the part where you can see the harbor, should not be far. “ . . . do you remember where you are going, once you arrive at the harbor? ”

Vera chuckled and gave Kaeya a shrug, taking another sip from her drink as she glanced at the bar downstairs. " Nothing much, I'm just not working right now is all. Decided to indulge. " she then gestured to her dead eye, " no need to hide this around you either. "
She swirled her drink around in the glass before taking another sip. " I've been well, scarily so as of late. My paperwork is caught up, my men are behaving, and the ever elusive Darknight Hero has yet to destroy one of my camps. "
The Harbinger was quite proud of that one, judging by the very satisfied smile on her face combined with her relaxed posture. She took another sip of her drink.
" Perhaps I should both thank the thief for distracting our friend and pray for his health should he ever get caught trying. "
“ never should it be a thing to complain about no work! ” he cheers, smiling heartily and reaching forward to nudge her in the shoulder. a boyish action, almost, but he regains that colder composure just as someone walks by. “ why, i understand the reason the knights have so much work. but it's always such a nice thing for it to slow, isn't it? ”
he sips a bit of his drink, like it's a fine cocktail in someplace more fancied up than angel's share.
“ that thief. . . i'd like to catch him, you know. ” he sighs, swirling his drink. putting it down. picking it up to swirl again. “ far too much work for a single man. i digress. this isn't the hour to talk about work. ” Kaeya laughs again, the captain's mirth someplace between genuine and methodical. “ especially when you're going calm. . . ahh, i still need to rise with the sun tomorrow. ”
" Drinking all alone, Captain? "
A familiar voice asks Kaeya from behind before a familiar woman was suddenly sat in the chair across him, legs crossed with a casual smile on her face. " Rough day in the life of a Knight? Lack of Cavalry getting to you? " Vera asked, though the teasing tone of her voice was not lost on him.
She laughed and drank from the glass she had brought with her, taking a small sip before putting it down. Vera didn't usually order, but seeing as it wasn’t Diluc nor Charles currently running the bar, she had decided to splurge on a strong drink.
Then she looked Kaeya in the eye properly, her dead left eye no longer hidden by some spell or contact lens, showing the dulled color of what was once a sunset.
" How have you been, brother? "
@burrat1n0
// been a while, hope you dont mind the intrusion :p
“ ah, well you don't need to rub it in, my friend. ”
Kaeya was taken off guard, too lost in thought for the moment it took for vera to look at him. he nursed a half-drank death-after-noon. the usual. it wasn't that strong, he needed to wake early tomorrow. still- the burn of something familiar was wonderful.
the knight looks at the lack of an eyepatch, amusement playing on his expression naturally. “ is tonight a special occasion? ” he asks with casual ease.
a small sip. “ all is well. ”
another. “ i just like the drinks here. and our stubborn old friend was not tending tonight. he's busy, i reckon. ” there's a few more pauses. Kaeya swirls his finger over the rim of the class. “ something about the winery. supposedly, the grand thief is stopping by mondstadt. you didn't hear this from me, but he's a bit miffed since the thief is also a drunkard. ”
the implication of stolen wine barrels is funny. how does one person steal a whole barrel?
“ and you, dear sister? has the wind been wishing you well? ”
Cont / X
Honestly, who cares if she decided to go off to her lonesome, she certainly left quite the mess along the trail, getting rid of stragglers that tried to reach one of the Lightkeepers base camp down the whole way.
''Gonna have to applaud myself on the shoulder if i ended up dragging you, out of the grave, of all people'', leave it to Josefina, to keep things lighthearted, keep tension at bay. Fighting with these menaces isn't exactly her first rodeo & quite frankly, the whole reprimand mention, just make the woman chuckle.
She stands, her back to Flins, attention shifting to him despite the situation but not quite staring from over her shoulder. ''If i so much needed a scolding, i would do that to myself. There is quite nothing like berating yourself'', for inaction above all else, like a certain someone who struggles alot by the day.
In which case, there is more important.
''Want me to cover the rear or not?'', had Josefina decidedly been alone still, she'd simply continue to trash the enemies from up close than go long range.
@teyvatiannights
“ i am not much a strategist as some we may know. ” he says with a chuckle, not too bad with the lack of grimness. though he falls short with that monotonous voice. and lack of expression ( that small quirk at the corner of his mouth does not count as anything. )
the lightkeeper continues with, “ this battle may be approached however you wish, miss. ” the smoothness of his voice is echoed in the next sweeping arc of his polearm. the only thing not mirrored is the preciseness of his speech- “ i'd acquit to your methods to the best of my ability, of course. ”
translating to, we can both do whatever, it will be fine! . . . okay, not literally that. but somewhere along those lines, surely.
“ the only objective i wish to see fulfilled is that these monsters are eliminated and i may see you to piramida. ”
