It's been about two weeks of playing Overwatch and I've noticed a steady improvement. I've never played a game like this before, so it's taken some getting used to. I've learned that I'm better at Mercy than everyone else, but Reaper is the most fun. I LOVE getting into the middle of the other team and dropping Death Blossom.
What that pleb of a YouTube did was shitty, but honestly, in the grand scheme of things it was very light. You voluntarily log on to a site where people upload some of the most disgusting things you can imagine. From gore to actual murders to people doing sexual acts with animals and underage, showing a dead body and making fun of it, no matter how much of a cunty move it was, normal people on this site post much, much worse.
Hey Anon - and while those things are shitty, they’re almost always dealt with in a quick manner. What happened with Logan Paul is a big deal because of how big of a YouTube celeb he did and the lack of ANY sort of response by YouTube for DAYS.
its wild to me that there are people out there who can actually complain about getting bad service. like, did you know if your package is late on amazon prime and you contact customer service they’ll give you a free month of Prime and a five dollar credit? ANY time that one of your packages is late? because I sure as fuck didn’t! I never thought to complain! an amazon employee could come in my house and beat me with a hammer and i’d just sit there and be like “its ok, it’s like this sometimes, i understand. the holidays can be stressful. i get it.”
did you know it’s possible to complain about service errors without being angry? you can even be friendly and nice about it!
“hey, so i think i got someone else’s chicken fingers, i ordered the quesadilla. oh, the cook misread the order and has to remake it? ok, i dig, i’ll wait. you’re offering me free breadsticks while i wait? sounds good, thanks!”
DO speak up, DO be specific about the problem, DON’T be blamey or sarcastic or snippy. DO realize it may take time to fix the problem, DON’T turn down extra goods/services they offer to make it up to you.
mistakes happen. businesses have a procedure for fixing mistakes. apology items are part of that procedure; if you turn them down, it doesn’t look like you’re not mad, it looks like you’re too mad to accept their apology but too confrontation-shy to say so. i promise that when you accept the free breadsticks your server heaves a secret sigh of relief.

You know what makes no sense? That buffy takes a job at double meat palace because it’s the “fastest way to get money” rather than like freelancing as a body guard or a private investigator or a bounty hunter or something where she could get cash up front.
Also, she gets Giles his watcher pay back with back pay and yet she gets no pay whatsoever except for the one check he gives her as a big gift.
Like…Angel’s in LA with a PI business and she can’t think of anything other than fast food?
Or OR she could have got a waitressing job because she had actual experience and would get some cash tips right away.
Basically I’m saying this is the most illogical plot point of the whole show and I hate it.
It would be hard for her to get hired as a bodegaurd because she’s small and they wouldn’t think she could beat people up, and if she proved that she was strong, it might have revealed her slayer status.
As for the working in fast food, was she using her real name for when she was waitressing?
She was going by Anne and probably worked at a shady place. She also just up and left that job and literally gave her name tag to someone else, so that might not be the best job reference to have. I actually like this part of Season 6. Having to take a job in fast food is quite a common experience, so it was very relatable for me and I’m one of those odd people who actually liked Doublemeat Palace because, wow, yeah, that is pretty accurate to how it feels working in fast food or other customer service type jobs. I do wish that we got a scene where Buffy tried to get paid by the Watcher’s Council, but then was denied by them. And with the depressed state that she was in at the time, I could see her not pushing for it or viewing the time and hassle that would need to go into convincing them not being worth it/not quick enough. Her not getting paid by them works fine for me on a metaphorical level as well. So yeah, Buffy working at Doublemeat Palace never bothered me on a writing or storytelling level.
Actually, if you read the comics, Buffy gets paid in a lot of really fun ways. One way she funds the new slayers organization is that she basically robs a bunch of banks with high-end insurance. Then when magic is destroyed and everyone knows about magic (see Angel: After the Fall and following comics) she tries the whole bodyguard thing and it isn’t for her.
Fast forward when vampires aren’t so cool anymore and she’s part of a special task force for the police in San Francisco. So while you make a good point about the bodyguard thing, she ultimately thought it was distasteful.
Also, you’re forgetting the thing in the show when Anya suggests that she start charging people like Angel and she just can’t make herself do it. She finds it really distasteful that she should charge people for doing her job.
^ Oh, yes, those are all really good points too! The comics do expand upon Buffy and jobs. Though, the world is a bit different by then, since the supernatural world is known to the general public, so I do think it freed up Buffy and her options in some ways. The Watcher’s Council is also completely gone by then, so that option is also not even available anymore. But as you pointed out, that wouldn’t even really matter, because Buffy wouldn’t want to make money like that anyway. I totally forgot about that scene with Buffy and Anya, thanks for bringing that up! :)
Yeah, I may not blog about it along, but I’m a HUGE Buffy fan. I’ve been watching since season four and then I normally try to binge the whole series once a year.
That being said, I just wanted to toss out some canon in regards to the things mentioned. Totally wasn’t aimed at you in a know-it-all way, just wanted to bring up some points.
Oh, don’t worry! I didn’t take it that way at all. I always encourage corrections and pointing out story elements or plot points that may have been missed or overlooked. Especially because they usually add to the conversation. :)
Ugh, I hate autocorrect sometimes. I really hate weighing in on these types of things, but I’m at LEAST 97% sure SOMETHING was said in Bargaining. Like, I don’t see how Buffy would have been able to afford ANYTHING - not on minimum wage back in the early ‘00s. ESPECIALLY with the fact that she works in food service/retail and not full time. Even full time, it wouldn’t be enough.
Both our instincts are to run. It comes out in different ways, but it’s definitely what we do when we get too close to someone. But does it make it right? Yeah, you and me comes with a buffet line of problems. But so did me and Riley– challenges we couldn’t get past. Because he was a “normal person.” The possibility of kids and dinners and getting old together didn’t change any of it. With you, I don’t have those same worries. There are new ones. And I’m not minimizing them. But nothing’s ever going to be perfect. And there’s a lot of good stuff, too. I’m not saying we should stay together if we’re miserable. I’m not saying we should get married, either. Just that maybe, for once, we should try doing the thing that scares us most. And it does scare me. But I’d like to try to get through the tough parts. Be honest with each other about them, which we haven’t been. But not let them overshadow the good, either.
