The one girl who did "baby girl shake that" dance trend on tiktok but didn't FUCKING SHAKE THAT got this comment. I'm cracking up.
People will support Tourettics until they have coprolalia. You stand with us, you stand with ALL of us.
repeating tics multiple times isn't a sign of faking!
(it's very common in tourettes, especially in tourettic OCD)
someone laughing at their own tics isn't a sign of faking!
(everyone deserves laughter and healthy coping mechanisms)
having tics that reference something related to a conversation or something in the environment isn't a sign of faking!
(its very common in tourettes)
having tics from other content creators isn't a sign of faking!
(its called echolalia, and its very common in tourettes)
having tics that appear 'dramatic' or 'forceful' isn't a sign of faking!
(a clinical feature of complex tics is that they can appear forced even though they are not)
having any sort of stereotyped symptom related to tourettes isn't a sign of faking!
(duhh??)
someone online claiming another person is faking tics... isn't actual proof of faking!
(refer back to above points)
fakeclaiming never has and never will benefit the tics and tourettes community.
I fear that at this point, people will find every little bit of "evidence" that they can possibly think of to fake claim somebody. Its not ok. There is so much research that has to be done over, months to even years to really, really know what you're talking about when it comes to tics. Tics are so fucking complex, just leave to the people in the community to call out people who are actually faking. You can't really call out anyone either way until you have hardcore evidence. Honestly, instead of the ignorant neurotypical people calling out fakers, how about we have educated neurodivergent people to call out fakers.
:/
sometimes i think people just don't. understand that i like answering (non invasive) questions about my disabilities/illnesses/disorders. like yeah girl go ask me how i do my makeup as someone with tics and spasms. go ask me how i do competitive gymnastics as someone with chronic illnesses (answer a lot of taking breaks). go ask me how my hypermobility impacts my day to day life. how chronic migraines and epilepsy impact me. about my mobility aids. my personality disorders. why i can sometimes eat gluten but usually can't. about juvenile arthritis. about my pots and my compression socks (which i have a large collection of). about my horrible anxiety. about my hypomanic and depressive episodes. about my sensory issues and autism in general.
so yeah you can ask me about my disorders. just be nice about it.
I 100% agree with this person. I hate the people who really try to get into someone's personal life and think that's ok. An example, an odd one, but one that comes to mind, is "how to you do the nasty with tics/disabilities??!?!?!?" First off, my life like that is nobodies business. Second off, if you wouldn't ask a neurotypical person with no disabilities that, what makes you think its ok to ask someone with a disability that weird question?? And to make matters worse, I've seen so many MINORS who have been asked that question. Sometimes even by adults. I also think there is a proper way to ask certain questions. If you believe it might be offensive and there is no way to re word it so its not offensive, just don't comment at all. :)
Unpopular opinion? No one should ever accuse another person of faking a disability. Yes, it sucks that people fake disabilities. But as an ambulatory wheelchair user, someone who can walk sometimes and not other times, someone with two invisible disabilities...too many people have accused me of faking needing a wheelchair, faking Autism, that I could never do the same to anyone else, even if they really might be faking it. I should be able to stand up from my wheelchair and walk without fear of getting yelled at. I should be able to wear headphones, have loss of speech, and stim in public without people spreading rumors about me. I should be able to have tics without being accused of faking Tourette's (forgive me if I spelled that wrong, I don't have it, I simply have tics that are caused by my FND). Disabled people should be able to live their lives without being questioned on whether or not they're ACTUALLY disabled, or being talked about behind their back.
I honestly support this person's opinion, and I respect it. I just feel that if there is enough evidence behind a person faking a disability/disorder then they should be called out. Faking and mocking a real thing that affects so many people in such horrible ways should always be called out, if there is enough evidence. There are a whole bunch of ignorant people out here who will fake claim literally everyone with a disability/disorder online just because its not how they imagined how it would look or how they would like it to be. That's fucked up, excuse my French. I go on R/fakedisordercringe so often and find so many people who could actually have a real tic disorder, and are posted on that horrible web page and basically bullied in the comments. And whenever I tried to comment on the post, saying "hey, I don't think this person is faking because *whatever type of evidence that they're not faking I need to type up,*" they'd always take it down saying "your comment was against the rules." I actually get mad thinking about that. That really shows how that reddit page is toxic and needs to go down. I believe it is wrong to harass someone who is faking a disorder online. There is absolutely a way to do it, and bullying/harassing someone online isn't the way to do it, especially if its a minor. I do, however, really come after the people who are "TransID" because its just so fucking awful to do something like that. Yes, I do understand its probably not the right way to do it, and I genuinely apologize and will probably end up calling them out in a different way. Its gotten to the point where they're posting larger creators such as Zara Beth, and I even heard they fake claimed Evie Meg too. I used to feel like it was only smaller accounts but its only getting worse. So yes, I do agree with what this person is saying, with minor differences in agreement, and I hope I didn't offend the person who posted this. I do not mind others on Tumblr sharing their opinions in the comments. HOWEVER, disrespect will NOT be tolerated so please keep it respectful. Thanks!!
Disabled people should be allowed to exist in public. Yes, I mean all disabled people.
That includes people with tic disorders.
That includes people who smell ‘bad’.
That includes people who can’t help being loud.
That includes people who move ‘strangely’.
That includes people with bulky mobility aids.
That includes people who drool.
That includes people who struggle with incontinence.
We all should get to exist, however that looks, and go out in public, use public transport, do activities outside our homes. And we should be allowed to do those things without being glared at or having ableist things said to us.
100%. Because at the end of the day, people with disabilities can't help it. Either way, we should all be accepting of everyone! (As long as theres no bigotry, ofc because bigotry shouldn't be tolerated, the only exception is if its somones tics, etc.)
seeing that a disorder is more common in men always makes me suspicious because on the one hand, yeah it could be actually more common in men. on the other hand, 9 times out of 10 its just less commonly diagnosed in women who have it and is brushed off either as something else or as nothing.
CLOCK IT
hi. just a reminder you’re not a coward for staying. you’re doing what you have to. survival is a plan too.
love, someone who took the long way out
🥰💓💗💖💞
"You know, the more I think about it, Tourette's is a proper super power"... "You can say literally anything you like and say it was a tic, fantastic!".
Yeah, it's funny until...
I tic a slur or something offensive or scary and it angers someone
I hurt myself
I hurt someone else
I can't carry out basic things like holding a drink, cooking, feeding myself...
I get muscle and joint pains from the repetitive motor tics
I sustain a long term injury
I freeze in the middle of the road with oncoming traffic
You can't go into a place because my tics are too loud or offensive
I have a tic attack
I become too exhausted to do anything
I can't do certain hobbies or activities, or I have to give up activities because my tics make them impossible to do
People tell you to 'shut up' and 'stop ticcing' because 'it's annoying' or 'what you're saying is rude'
You can't sleep because your tics won't give up
You can't stand for periods of time because your legs have been ruined by your tics
People stare at you
You get thrown out of a shop for being too loud or offensive
You're scared to go certain places
The list goes on.
"If I had tics I would use it to get away with swearing at people"
next person to say that is having their speaking privileges revoked
Sometimes you just have to keep your mouth SHUT. Most times, swearing isn't a big deal when its voluntary, but when its involuntary, it feels like the end of the world.
Fake claiming people who had tics in 2020/21 needs to stop and here's why:
first of all. I'm against fake claiming in general. you have no idea what people's situations or lives look like. you have no right to tell them what medical conditions they do or don't have. but. let's lay out some reasons why you may have seen a lot more people with tics then vs now.
***
- firstly. it was 'trending'. if you were seeking out people with tics to gawk at. you were going to see them.
- talking about tics brings them out. people were making videos and content about their ts/tics, and so naturally, they were ticcing in those videos. that does not mean that they must tic all of the time in order for them to have tics.
- I spent years trying medications, waiting to see a neurologist. getting on different doses, etc. before I found something that works. when I'm on my meds, I usually don't tic hardly at all. that very well could be the case for some of these people as well.
- tic disorders wax and wane. it's a well known part of the disorders. tics can be bad for a while, and then almost non-existent for a while. and then come back. it's normal.
- tics also tend to get worse in times of high stress and anxiety (global pandemic??!)
- tourettes is not the only tic disorder. the options aren't only. tourettes or faker. there is such thing as transient/provisional tic disorder, which is a very real tic disorder that lasts for less than a year. there are also other causes of tics such as fnd.
- it's a well known phenomenon that people's tics sometimes improve in adulthood. it doesn't mean that they were faking before. it just means that they got a lucky break.
***
fake claiming is gross, and this mindset only does harm to the tic disorder community. it's ableist and ignorant to assume someone is faking just because you're uneducated and think that you know more than the person who actually has the disorder.
please try to support the people you know, and the people in your community with tics. it's rough out here for us.
A rant, which I typically don’t do.
You are NOT “transabled”. You are not “transid” or “transx” or whatever. YOU ARE AN ATTENTION SEEKER.
There are REAL people with REAL disabilities that struggle daily with ableism and depression because of their REAL disability, not the fake “UwU I’m so cute and silly! I have transautism transadhd transdepression transosdd transdid transfreckles transthisandthat!”
I get it-you want to feel like part of a group. You want attention, you want friends. But minimizing the struggles of real disabled people, or saying you have whatever when you DON'T is not the way to do it. Essentially, you’re just being ableist.
Tldr: Get off the internet, you’re not disabled.
Also, I HAVE autism, and I, a “cisautistic” person, find it absolutely horrific that people WANT to have autism. Sure, it may give me “superpowers”, but often, it just makes life harder. Disabilities MAKE LIFE HARDER. Be thankful that you have a body that works in the way it should, and a brain that makes life easier, not harder.
Real shit. Can we please have more people on this app with common sense?
*Not trying to attack anyone but omfg, these IDIOTS to put it simply need to stop lmfao.*
First and foremost, there is no "safe" online. There are plenty of people and with those people are opinions. However, fuck the opinions here's the facts: TRANSIDs ARE NOT A REAL THING. Just think about it. You can't just develop a disorder because you want it! That sounds fucking ridiculous. Block me if you want, I don't care. But I'm trying to make a REAL safe space for people with REAL disabilities. Because after all, you are making a mockery out of other people's disabilities and that is ABLEISM. Disabilities are not fun. You do not want them. Why make you're life worse? You will also get called out by a doctor, a professional if you go to one. No professional is going to believe this. They are extra careful these days. THEY WILL FIGURE YOU OUT!
btw as a cisTourettic person I love you transTourettes, transTics, and transTicDisorder.
Ya’ll are awesome.
As a person who actually has Tourette's, a real case indeed, i find it disgusting how people who might ACTUALLY have the same damn disorder to be like this. transTourette's/transTics or whatever the fuck, isn't valid. NOBODY in the right state of mind will call it valid. I'm dearly sorry to hear that you're going through a tough mental state right now. Its also kind of hard to believe that a person who has "real Tourette's" is saying that these fucking fakers are vaild... Not fake claiming anybody but I'm just putting that out there. transTourette's is harmful, not real, and most certainly INVAILD. Ya'll fuckers need to stop lmfao.
To all radqueers out there, I have some very useful tips!!
Let's begin!
1. Getting off the internet and getting some help because you guys are not okay in any way!
2. Stop thinking that you are the future because anyone in the right state of mind isn't gonna accept you as valid, ever.
3. Smell some fresh air from outside and look at what's outside for a sec, I'm sure you forgot.
4. Stop trying to convince people that you are valid.
5. Stop taking disorders, illnesses and trauma.
6. Stop thinking you're from another race.
7. And this one is for the adult radqueers: STOP PREYING ON CHILDREN ON THE INTERNET YOU MOTHERFUCKERS.
Also, kindly fuck off </3.
Oh honey. It doesn't feel good to spread hate now does it?
What if someone did that to you?
YESSSSSSSS
