Some Rules.

I can't even begin to believe I gotta make this post, but like. Here are some small rules about my blog because people apparently can NOT understand etiquette.

Do not send me asks about localization UNLESS I ASK. Please stop sending me these. I only speak English and I am uninterested in dissecting these choices. Localizers work hard and we should stop disrespecting every single one because this argument is old and tired. It's sub vs dub but stupider.

Sending an Ask in general is fine but please respect if I'm not interested/say I'm uncomfortable.

Am I wrong about a thing? Cool. I write gay fanfic on the internet like. I enjoy analysis and stuff but mostly from a fan perspective. I'm really not interested in being THAT serious about it.

Please don't be transphobic, homophobic, hateful of a specific character/game etc. in my DMs. Instant block. I am a trans man and also a queer person and I just enjoy creating stuff. Thanks.

Things that I don't mind: sending me asks about my AO3 stuff, headcanons, asking about AU shit, whatever. But sending me constant weird stuff about localization/lore changes like... I don't care, Marth used to not wear pants. He does now. Retcons happen to any longrunning series. Violating any of this will result in a block. Thanks. If I make a mistake on my end and it's actually something important - accidentally mislabeled a tag, say - then that's fine, too. But the being pedantic thing is getting a bit much.

this may be a tiny bit self serving and i dont know if youve made a post about it already… but if you have chrom’s height, do you know how tall robin is? awakening put them at about the same height model wise but robins been consistently shown as shorter in media after that (fe:h, engage, smash bros, etc.). how much taller is chrom in engage?

I haven't made a post about this already, somehow! I've been so focused on dragon forms I forgot about not-dragon-form Robin. :P

Awakening gave Robin not one but SIX possible heights. All three body variations for each gender gets a different model scaling value, and no two are the same. Which incidentally is why I use Chrom as my ruler for other Awakening models, and not Robin. You can never truly be sure which body type is canon to any given Robin...

The medium male Robin is in fact the same height as Chrom in Awakening; the tall male and female bodies are taller than Chrom; and then the small male and female bodies, as well as the medium female body, are all shorter.

Kinda makes me wonder if that's the reason they make Robin shorter than Chrom in all their subsequent appearances. Looked at these numbers and went "eh, on average Robin's shorter".

ANYWAY. ENGAGE HEIGHTS. I gotcha covered. Same methods as usual; port into Blender and graft on feet, apply scaling values, measure on the Z-axis, grab the Fogado-Byleth conversion factor, calculate the heights.

(The sheer visual difference... I haven't bothered to give the characters in the original Measuring File my fancy engage shaders, and boy howdy can you tell.)

In Engage, Robin is about 5' 6"! Chrom has a bit over half a foot of height on him at 6' 2".

As an interesting side note; the difference between Engage Chrom and Robin's heights is pretty much exactly the height difference between Awakening Chrom and Robin's short male body type. Robin's height in Engage is 89.7% of Chrom's, compared to short male Awakening Robin's 90%.

No matter what the hair style says, short male body type Robin is canon to Engage. I rest my case.

As an aside I can't believe Engage gave Robin blue-gray eyes. Smh. Those eyes should be brown/gold! 0/10, literally unplayable

nah that's just an emblem/unit color thing, emblems are an enormous ally/enemy unit joke. they all have VERY diluted colors and an extremely sparkly blue (or red) filter, it's hard to explain. Anyway for funsies here's some Chroms with alternative weird eye colors to go with weird robins:

I would post more Engage screens to really prove this point but uh, I can't, because it is IMMENSE SPOILERS. So. Pretend those are here, and I am looking VERY Chrom-pitent right now. Just so competent. Yeah. Alternatively, you can enjoy my stupid fanfic take, which is: emblems don't know the real eye color of their originals because they're just copies made from folk lore/legend! (and that's why over time Marth GAINED PANTS!) that's so fucking depressing YAAAAY

Sombron (Human Form) References + Height Estimate

At the request of a mutual, I went and ripped Sombron's human model from the game and took some reference photos! Artists who want to draw Sombron take notes.

(My shaders for Engage characters are nowhere near game-accurate yet, I'm working on it. Reference screenshots of the game for a better idea of how the materials look.)

His legs are sort of digitigrade? He's got really weird legs.

All of his armour pieces softly glow pink on the inside, in addition to his wing-hair-things and the lines on his skirt. Also of note: his canine teeth are gray at the base and pink at the tips.

Obligatory Fogado for scale.

Using the same numbers and method from my post about Grima's size, I have determined that Sombron is about 7' 6".

Seven and a half feet tall! Dude is a GIANT.

Horrifying Grimanatomy discovery that I don't feel like adding to the fancy post:

So I figured out that the Creation's top jaw is actually a fully separate mesh from the rest of the head, and can be removed fairly trivially to see their true face underneath. This is likely a byproduct of the Creation being, I suspect, a scaled down and lightly edited version of the Grima model from Awakening; deleting the hidden face from the original was probably deemed more effort than it was worth.

Wow look at that weird tiny fleshy head. You weird little thing you.

But then I realised.

Not only is the nose remarkably well defined for something you literally only ever see briefly and from a vast distance, it has nostrils both on the texture AND physically defined in the mesh.

And I mean...... the markings in front of his eyes don't look particularly nostril-y to me..... I can't find evidence of nasal geometry or texture details anywhere else on the true face....

Does.

Does Grima breathe out of his human-mimic nose? Is that his actual nose????
