When I was reading Homestuck for the first time with no knowledge of the fandom (beyond davekat and rosemary) I imagined Eridan with a southern accent because his way of typing (dropping g’s and using “a” instead of “of”, also the nicknames) reminded me of one. This might have been influenced by me being born and raised in rural Georgia. Anyway imagine my shock and disappointment when I looked at comic dubs and voice claims and realized most people interpreted him with an RP British accent.

heard here and there that suo used to struggle with handling his emotions (and probably still up to now) or in other words emotional regulation problems (small theory from how he went slightly loose during KEEL) — but does anyone have any theories or speculations why that is ? was suo bad with managing his emotions when he was young because he was never taught how to and simply lived in a harsh environment or does it stem in anything else ?

Despite physically leaving his scene phase his music taste is still very much rock/pop punk. He’s adding Falling in Reverse, Bring me the Horizon, Set it Off, Thousand Foot Krutch, IDKHOW, etc
Henry
This man is adding anime openings, vocaloid songs, and fandom songs. Specifically The Living Tombstone and Derivakat (he’s definitely a dsmp warrior)
Jake
He listens to both really popular songs and the most underground artists you’ve ever seen. He mentions The Jomies which I assume is like the Jonas Brothers in terms of music style so he obviously adds some of that. I feel like he also adds fin (aka Stefan Argus or Fin Argus), Cody Fry, Wallows, The Weeknd, etc. He doesn’t really add artists more so just songs he likes.
Drew
He mostly listens to rap/hip hop with a little bit of rock too. I feel like he’s adding Kendrick Lamar, Drake (keep in mind this is 2020-2021), older Kanye, NF etc

My tmf family headcanons because I’m bored and I’ve been thinking about it for the past few days
I’m only gonna do the ones I’ve thought about the most (so Jake, Hailey + Zander, Henry, Drew, and Zoey) in this one (because I’m going to ramble…a LOT). I’ll do the others in another post. If anyone has any requests those will be my top priority I promise
Alright let’s get into it!! (Cut bc like I said I’m going to ramble a lot lol)
First up is JAKE!!
He lives with his mom, younger brother (Milo), and his dog, Oreo! His dad unfortunately passed away while working as a firefighter when he was 8.
He has a good relationship with his mom, although he doesn’t see her often due to her being a trauma nurse and working a lot. She used to be around more but since he and Milo have gotten older she decided that it would be good for her to take on more shifts. She always tries to get off work for anything important in her son’s lives though!
Jake was 5 when Milo was born, and was extremely enamored by the idea of a little brother. He took very quickly to the role and there are many photos and videos of a little Jake Sterling running around entertaining his brother. Unfortunately Jake started to withdraw from everyone (including Milo) during middle school ☹️. He stopped that when he got to high school though and him and Milo are still pretty close!! Even if Jake finds him more annoying than ever. Tis the curse of the oldest sibling.
Okay next is HAILEY!! and ZANDER!!
They live with Hailey’s dad (Michael), Zander’s mom (Shannon), each other (obviously), and their little sister (Bethany).
Hailey’s biological mom died giving birth to her, so when she was six and her dad introduced her to Shannon she was like “oh hey i have a mom now!!” and that was that.
Zander…was a bit more complicated.
We know his dad left him and his mom at a young age (probably around 5) and he has trouble trusting people because of that. All of this to say…he did not like nor trust Michael when he met him.
Shannon and Michael had already been dating for about a year before Shannon decided to introduce Michael and Hailey to Zander. She had hoped that by introducing both of them at the same time that Zander might not trust Michael completely but at least trust that he wasn’t just going to up and abandon them like his biological father did.
Didn’t work.
He liked Hailey, but he did not like Michael. He didn’t start liking him until after Shannon married him, when him and Hailey were 8. He didn’t start fully trusting him until after Bethany was born, when he was 10.
He likes and trusts him fully now! He still calls him Michael, because he just got used to it and thought it would be weird randomly start calling him Dad lol.
They both LOVE Bethany. Both of them were super excited to be older siblings (although Hailey insists she was ALREADY an older sibling, and yes that one month, two weeks, and one day counts thank you very much) and they are just the sweetest oldest siblings ever.
Alright next is my man HENRY!!
He’s the middle of 5 children! He has two older sisters, one of which is 15 years older and the other is 4 years older than him, and he has 2 younger siblings (a brother and a sister) who are twins and 8 years younger.
His oldest sister was not planned, and was the result of dumb teens fooling around without protection. Unfortunately she followed in their footsteps and got pregnant with Faye and Dominic when she was 16…her parents were not pleased.
Henry has no idea that Faye and Dom are even related to him, let alone his niece and nephew, since he never talks to his oldest sister. She was essentially excommunicated by their parents, and the only reason he even knows he HAS an older sister is because his second older sister was around and has vague memories (mostly lots of arguments) of the whole fiasco.
He doesn’t know what happened to his oldest sister, and his parents just say vague things like “she made her own choices” and nothing more than that. It’s one of the few things that irritates him about his parents.
Other than that, he has a great relationship with them!! His dad actually introduced him to anime, and they watch it together. They sometimes convince his mom that it’s worth her time and she watches with them. He loves his older sister (well, more specifically he loves ANNOYING her), and he loves his younger siblings. He’s the one they go to if they want to get away with something, and they tease him about the fact that his younger brother is already “approaching” (he’s still about 7 inches away) his height.
(Sometimes he does wonder about his elusive older sister, and why no one talks about her. He’s asked nearly everyone in the family. They all just go quiet and look awkward. He wonders what she did that was so horrible that no one is allowed to talk about her. Did she murder someone? Was she abusive? Did she threaten someone? Or did she not do anything wrong? Are his parents worse people than he thought? Is the whole family bad?)
Him and Liam have been best friends since kindergarten, and often go on family vacations with each other. They’ve only had one real fight, when they were 9. They don’t even remember what it was about, but it was bad enough that they swore they’d never talk to each other again. Henry’s sister laughed and said “You’ll be friends again by the end of the week.”
He held out 2 weeks just to spite her.
(Okay wow that got a lot more writer-y than I expected it to. Can you tell I’ve thought about this a lot?)
Okay anyway onto the one, the only, Mr. Family Trauma himself DREWWWW!!
He legally lives with his mom and his dad.
Truthfully, he lives by himself.
His parents just don’t live where he lives. He lives in Rosemeadow, they live…wherever the hell they are.
His parents never wanted children. He was born to keep appearances within the social circles they were in, and nothing more.
He had a revolving door of nannies. He used to act out for attention (still does, sometimes), and a lot of them just couldn’t handle it. Couldn’t handle him.
He doesn’t have any siblings, but he does have cousins. A lot of them. Most of them are spread out across the States, but some of them still live in The Philippines. He’s only visited a couple times, when he was young, but he thinks he always misses it. (Yes I am pushing my Filipino Drew headcanon on you what are you gonna do about it)
(Okay I actually don’t have much to say about Drew that I thought I would lol. Ig since his family situation is pretty clear cut but the effects that it has on him is what’s complicated. Maybe I’ll get into it later)
Alright now onto the final victim character of the night, ZOEYYYY!!
She lives with her parents. Her older sister moved out and never looked back. Zoey both admires and resents her for that.
Her mom is a “functioning” addict. Her dad’s an alcoholic. Neither of them raised her.
Her older sister was her caregiver, and she made it clear that she resented the fact she had to take care of a child she was barely 7 years older than. Zoey understands.
Zoey’s mother encouraged her mean girl attitude. She found it funny. Her father didn’t care. Her sister just scoffs and rolls her eyes whenever Zoey starts.
She mostly avoids her parents. She doesn’t talk to them. They don’t talk to her. It’s fine.
She tries to talk to her sister, but she’s perpetually trapped in the “annoying little sister” role. Sometimes they have a genuine conversation. It’s gotten more common over the years, something which Zoey is grateful for.
Okay I think that’s all for now bc it’s now almost 11pm and I’m tired lol. I’ll probably come and edit some of these in the morning bc idk if I like some of them.
Zander from The Music Freaks is autistic and here's why I think so
- The way he talks. He usually sounds very flat/uninterested, but when he's going for a more dramatic cadence, it seems like sounding emotional isn't something that comes naturally to him, even in moments where he's undoubtedly feelings very emotional(cough episode nine cough).
- An inability to “let go” of things, being the last one to trust Jake and the first to distrust him after episode nine, the There! Right! There! reference, which seems minor but which he seems important enough to bring up with the implication that he rants to Luke a lot.
- RSD. In particular, the scene where Stacy kisses Luke and Zander just leaves. Another example would be how he's protective over Hailey when Milly tells him that Jake was “Kabedonning” her, like he's afraid she would abandon him. His isn't nearly as bad as Hailey’s, but hey! It's there.
- He wears a very specific type of clothing, remarked in-universe as being noteworthy, which could be interpreted as being due to sensory issues.
- He obviously struggles with forming genuine connections with people, as shown in the Seasons flashback where, barring Hailey, he was completely alone until Luke came into his life(just like another season). Even now, he’s only shown to be friends with the Music Club.
- His affinity for the piano clearly goes way back, which could be interpreted as a special interest.
- The fact that, aside from Hailey, he's the only one the Jomies actively targeted(unless you count Milly and Zoey/Lia, but Milly didn't know that Jake was Zoey's boyfriend's friend, so make of that what you will) despite them not knowing anything about him(Jake didn't even know that he was gay or Hailey’s stepbrother, literally what were they bullying him for if not strange mannerisms)
- While I tried to stick to canon as strictly as possible, if we're accounting for the popular headcanon that he dyes his hair purple to make it look less like his bio dad, then that's not only another point for the “inability to let things go” point, but also suggests that the color purple might also be a special interest.
Yk what would be absolutely hilarious…if Jake didn’t tell Milo about him not being friends with the Jomies anymore so he still bothers them over text (bc I’m absolutely certain he has all their numbers. Him and Henry get along like a house on fire)
Imagine Drew is going through The Worst Period of His Life and here comes his ex best friends annoying ass little brother asking if he wants to play Among Us with him 😭
So tmf brain rotted we started learning about Gardner’s multiple intelligence theory in my ECE class and I was going through them like “this is so Drew” “Omg this is definitely Milly” “This one’s literally Hailey”
Sometimes I think about how in Jake’s nightmare all of his friends are depicted as having phones/being the ones to record him…except Drew.
Like it would’ve been so easy to have his phone like hanging out of his pocket or even in his hand but it just..isn’t. Which is so interesting to me because…why? Why are Jake’s subconscious and conscious disagreeing? Bc Jake actively accuses Drew of having something to do with it (which makes sense bc Drew WAS the ringleader in all of this) but then doesn’t subconsciously?? Idk maybe I’m reading too much into this lol but I think it’s interesting!!
Saw a post (gone and in the ether now, I fear) that posed a really interesting question: Why didn't Jake tell Drew about Zoey cheating?
Now a lot of people think it's because of the diary deal he made with Zoey. Milly's Diary back for his silence about Zoey's cheating. Which is true from that moment onward (until the season finale), but what about before?
Before that happened, it's clear Zoey's gold digging tendencies and cheating are an open secret in the group. Like Henry, Liam and Jake all do know. They just don't ever tell Drew, who seems to either be aware and is just deluding himself, or is genuinely clueless. Why?
For Jake specifically, I think this is perfectly in character.
The whole reason for his season one conflict is his aversion to... well conflict. Oh the irony.
But seriously, Jake HATES conflict and fighting. He doesn't like when the people he cares about are mad at him or each other. Which is actually represented in the diary episode, when he decides to help Milly to resolve tension in the group.
It's partially why he and Drew's friendship is sledge-hammered at the end of season one. Because Jake doesn't want to make the "Dromies" mad, doesn't want to rock that particular boat. So instead of communicating that he actually enjoys the music club, and their company, he avoids the conversation entirely.
He neglects to tell his original friends about the fact that as time goes on, he really is enjoying the music club outside of confessing to Daisy.
His whole arc centers around him being scared of conflict with people he cares about, because he's never had a stable group of friends before Drew and his gang. He was bullied and alone, and he doesn't want that to happen again. So he shut's his mouth, and says' what he thinks people want to hear.
Even in the recording he's not saying anything he actually believes. He's just overwhelmed and saying what he thinks his friends want to hear about the music club to prevent the rising conflict that was occurring to that point.
Until the end of season one, where he grows a spine (affectionately) and learns to be honest. This blows up in his face with Drew and friends, but works really well with the Music club and Lia. He arcs here.
Back to Zoey, I think he didn't tell Drew originally because he didn't want conflict to occur. It's clear Drew really cares about Zoey, so maybe he just was afraid Drew wouldn't believe him. Maybe he was afraid it'd start a fight and the group would crumble and Jake would be all alone again like in middle school and before.
So, to make a long story short, his brand of coping with conflict is avoidance, and so he avoids telling Drew about Zoey to avoid conflict.
Hey, I think it was my post you saw, and this makes a lot of sense!! I had lowkey forgotten about Jake’s fear of conflict, mostly bc the scene I was posting about was a confrontational one lol, but he’s not scared of losing Zoey like he’s scared of losing Drew, so it makes sense for him to be a bit more confident, especially since he had something over her.
So now we have an explanation for why Jake didn’t tell Drew…now I’m side eyeing Henry and Liam /hj
