Hello ^^, Sorry but... There is a "normal" age to figure out your gender?
Personally, I realized I was trans when I was 15. I think a lot of people tend to realize around puberty because the changing body and social expectations bring the issue to the forefront, but realizing at any age is normal.Ā
Not everyone realizes theyāre trans in childhood like the narrative pushed at you by the media says, and thatās totally okay. In fact, the majority of trans people probably donāt realize as children, or donāt have the language to label their feelings as children, or donāt have as gendered bodies yet, or arenāt expected to fit into gender roles as kids yet so they donāt realize theyāre in the wrong one, or the converse where they have their self-identification invalidated and knocked down so they donāt have a welcoming environment to explore and grow and therefore donāt identify as trans yet. There are many reasons people donāt necessarily know theyāre trans when theyāre children, and theyāre all valid.
Many of our mods realized as teens (Read the When did you know you were trans? post for more info on realizing as a teen or child) but that isnāt necessarily because most people realize at the age we did, itās because this is a blog that adds teenage mods and that means youāll have mods who realized as teens or occasionally younger so it isnāt exactly an unbiased sample.
But back to the point, there are people who realize theyāre trans as children, people who realize as teens, and people who realize as adults and thatās all normal and valid.

Sometimes people will say youāre too young to know that youāre trans if you come out at a young age, and if you come out at an older age then theyāll say you should have known and come out younger.
But you are never too old, or too young. You can realize youāre trans at any age and you are still a valid trans person. Itās normal to realize at 3 years old, and itās normal to realize at 30 years old!
