Idk who needs to hear this but bisexuality includes trans people. Not "it can" include trans people or it "sometimes" includes trans people. It does. It always has. Any bisexual who says there's doesn't is just a transphobe and doesn't fucking represent what we're about.
“I’m in pain because the day is ending and somehow I am never healing.”
— Anne Sexton, from A Self-Portrait In Letters (via violentwavesofemotion)
saying “you are a burden on society” is just such a weird framing of priorities It’s like saying “wow, think how much better gas mileage your car would get if you weren’t sitting in it” or “think how dry that umbrella would be if you weren’t holding it in between you and the rainstorm”. the things we create? they’re for us. they are meant to carry us. they are meant to protect us. we are meant to hold them up to keep us dry.
why do we even have a society if not to take care of each other?
why do we even have a society if not to take care of each other?
why do we even have a society if not to take care of each other?
My heart goes out to those who struggle with this day.
Here’s the thing about shows like South Park and Family Guy that make their money off of being edgy and offensive. They fundamentally reduce their viewers’ capacity for empathy. If I found a joke funny, and you found it offensive, you’re just too sensitive. This is directly related to the ride of the alt right and the election of trump. In this essay I will
OP WHERE’S THE FUCKING ESSAY
So instead of writing the essay this is exactly what I’m talking about. This shit reduces your capacity for empathy. If you can’t understand why people are hurt by a simple joke, nay, think that’s the whole point… How the hell are you supposed to feel for someone when they come to you complaining of ACTUAL oppression? It’s the foot in the door phenomenon. A little oppression isn’t too bad, cuz it’s funny, right? It hardens your heart against others
Somebody actually wrote this essay already. It’s a Twitter thread about how the alt right recruits teenage boys by getting them to post slightly offensive memes… And then when they get called out and don’t understand why the alt right channels their anger at feminists and women and people of color and liberals. According to this thread, boys are being “set up”
Read the whole thread at the link above this is just a snip
“offensive” shows like Family Guy are a precursor to the alt right and you can’t change my mind
Y'all this shit so basic even Spongebob one it. It’s not about being too sensitive. It’s normalizing abuse through comedy that’s a foot in the door to greater oppression.
One thing to keep an eye on in Europe is how the coronavirus has impacted Romani communities. Given the rise in authoritarianism in response to the pandemic, and disparities in income, sanitation, living facilities, and healthcare due to systemic anti-Romani racism, things have not been looking great. (warning: directly below the text for this article is a slideshow about the Romani genocide during the Holocaust which contains content that may be triggering to some). Here is another article on the situation.
I haven’t seen anything yet about fundraising to help these communities, but I figured it would be a good thing to raise awareness of this issue, since the problems faced by Romani people in Europe (and in the rest of the world, tbh) frequently go under reported.
I haven’t found much in the way of reputable charitable organizations across Europe (possibly because I’m searching in English from America), but here is a fantastic Roma-led charity called Roma Support Group which is aimed at helping Roma families (specifically Eastern-European Roma refugees and migrants) in the UK.
They’ve already put out some great coronavirus resources for people in a variety of different languages and- in general- do fantastic work (and are especially focused on helping Roma migrants in a post-Brexit Britain). You can donate to them here: X
i have never felt as mature as when i finally understood (through therapy) and internalized (through emotional work) that you cannot connect and communicate with some people no matter how kind, compassionate, understanding, articulate, eloquent, or smart you are, and that sometimes a person not listening to you does not reflect on your communication skills or ability to connect or straight up intelligence. in a way, it’s letting go of the belief that you have the power to make people understand you. communication is a two-way street, and needs two willing participants. some people are just walls, and it has been unbelievably helpful for my mental and emotional health to let it slide and know that it does not affect me or my self worth.
when albert camus said “the sea; i didnt lose myself in it. i found myself in it” and when sylvia plath said “if i lived by the sea i would never be really sad” and when hozier said “love, when the sea rises to meet us” and when an anonymous writer said “and yet my heart wanders away, my soul roams with the sea” and when homer said “I’d rather die at sea”
and when marguerite duras said “there is one thing i am good at, and that’s looking at the sea” and when agnès varda said “it’s important to always be by the sea. the sea is the element of love”
and when hermann broch said “those who live by the sea can hardly form a single thought of which the sea would not be part,” and when keri hulme said “I know about me. I am the moons sister, a tidal child stranded on land. the sea always in my ear, a surf of eternal discontent in my blood,” and iain pears said “being by the sea is like a permanent baptism; the light and air hypnotizes, and your soul is washed by vastness.”
and when julia de burgos said “the sea, the true sea, almost mine now” and when saadi youssef said “but to the sea, to this sea, i return” and derek walcott said “you want to know my history? ask the sea.”

Reblogging because of the very important info at the end of the article - if you experience symptoms of a stroke, seek help IMMEDIATELY because even large strokes are treatable, but time is of the essence.
I just grabbed this from Google because the article didn't have any easy info on stroke identification. Remember the basics:
F- face, is it under control?
A - arms, can you raise them both at the same time?
S - speech, can you talk or are you slurring?
T - time is of the essence, go to a hospital IMMEDIATELY
This is scary stuff. Stay informed lovelies.

Supporting friends with empathy:
Replace the phrase, “I cannot imagine what that’s like” with “thank you for sharing that with me”
The concept that opposes universal basic income and other life necessities being received for free is completely based on the idea that humans are inherently lazy and won't produce anything of value outside of being forced to.
If this pandemic teaches us anything, please let it be that this is a boldfaced lie meant to keep the powerful in power by robbing the working class of access, energy, time and ability to reach their potential as human beings.
The age of robotics shouldn't be forcing people into poverty! It should be freeing people from doing menial work and allowing them to engage in art and science and creation and self betterment!
You are already the person you wish you were, it just needs practice.
