[New] Blvck Vrchives: An exploration of Home (Jacksonville, Florida) Part I.
One of the largest public housing developments in Jacksonville, Florida was demolished over 20 years ago yet the primary proof of our existence lies in memories and old snapshots. I have witnessed the erasure of my community and it is heartbreaking.
This post features an excerpt of the visual narrative that I curated using photographs from my family’s personal archive. We were here.
Mahrah sent me this image today over Signal with the words "One of the targets close to us today." This photo makes my heart drop into my stomach. The bombings are so close to her and her family.
@mahrahpalestine tells me that of all the days of this war, today has been the most difficult day for the people in Al-Shati Camp and Al-Nasr neighborhood. An unthinkable number of homes and tents were bombed.
Israel is dropping flyers notifying people their homes will be bombed to rubble and they must move south. Palestinians bring all their supplies south and there is no land available to set up their tents. Thousands of families are returning to Gaza City, returning to constant bombings. There are no options that offer safety. No one knows what to do.
Earlier today Reuters publishes an article titled "With nowhere else to shelter, Palestinians displaced in Gaza return to a city under Israeli assault."
In this article, Ahmed Abu Deya, a displaced man pushing a cart loaded with his family's belongings, is quoted saying: "We are returning back on foot. Some people go to their relatives or someone else who booked a spot for them. We don't have any land, any tent, even the basic life necessities. I don't even have water."
Genocidal violence surrounds them and is closing in around them quickly. There are no answers. There are no good options. Everyone is doing the best they can.
The people of Gaza are living painful, terrifying lives with no clear path to relief or safety.
Many people are willing to help someone if they believe that there is a clear number of steps to take where an end point is reached, and then the person does not need support anymore. But when they encounter people who they cannot save, who need support and community indefinitely, they balk.
You must resist this impulse. If you cannot find ways to be comfortable talking to scared, struggling, traumatized people, you will start to justify ignoring them to yourself, and if you do this long enough you will dehumanize them.
You must be able to stay with people and offer every resource you can reasonably extend. That is what it takes to be in solidarity with people in traumatic, ongoing crisis.
Mahrah's family's fundraising has been vetted by 90-ghost and shared by fairuzfan. Their family GoFundMe is hosted by my wife @cannilyuncanny.
Yesterday, @mahrahpalestine let us know the most recent transfer arrived. I can personally promise you that your donations are making it directly to her family. Please, please donate.
It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraise on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them.
It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around.
I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. Slowly, collectively, we can make a difference in these people's lives.
Share and donate as much as you can.
LOW ON FUNDS: Ahmed Halas fundraiser Maher fundraiser Mohammed Alwadiya fundraiser Mohammed Ayyad fundraiser Shady Samir Ashour fundraise
Too much pressure to pick just one family? Another REALLY important effort that's been overlooked is on-the-ground charity! They make good use of your donation by providing food, shelter, medicine, money, and baby milk and diapers to as many people as possible, regardless of how lucky they got fundraising individually on the internet.
Please donate to the Sameer Project here!

But I was forced, along with my family, to flee south😣,
leaving behind my home🫀, memories😔, and the workplace 😓that held so many beautiful recollections with my colleagues.😞
This war has affected us deeply, destroying us internally and exhausting us physically😩, mentally😓, and financially😢.
We left our home—a five-story building😔that now no longer exists💔😭, completely reduced to rubble.
That beautiful home held the memories of my childhood🧡, cherished days with my siblings, family, and the warm, joyful gatherings that are now nothing but echoes.💛💚💙❤
Today, I am displaced in the city of Deir al-Balah, 😔
living in a tent that lacks even the most basic necessities.😭😭
It doesn’t protect us from the heat of summer😪 or the cold of winter😫.
Yet, this hasn’t stopped me from fulfilling my duty✋, both humanitarian and moral, to serve my patients🤟💛.
I have not left them even for a day, not hesitating for a moment to provide care, whether at the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital 🩸or the European Hospital.🩺
I deeply feel the suffering of these patients🥺, who have lost everything and have only their health left to cling to😥.
I only wish that this nightmare would end🥺🙏💜.
After an entire year of this devastation, all that remains for me is my small family🙏💐,
and my hope is to protect them from the ravages of this war and to live in peace and safety—perhaps even far from this land🥺❤.

As of 06:30 GMT on 6 November 2024, Dr. Al-Deeb's vetted campaign is at €44,757 of his €55,000 goal. He's received just two new donations (totaling €30) in the past 24 hours.
Have you ever been hungry? Have you ever gone hours without eating? If you've experienced food scarcity or have been hungry & unable to eat, then you shall surely sympathize with what i am about to tell you.
Ibrahim is a young, 15 year old boy who has been going without eating because there is simply not enough to go around and he wishes his other family members to eat. Can you imagine having that kind of weight on your shoulders as a teenager? Gazans are already starving, aid gets through even less and less, and food prices are exceptionally, ridiculously high.
Please, if you have any spare change, give a bit of it to this family so that they can have a bit more to eat. If you can't donate, even spreading their fundraiser would help a lot. Thank you!!
Hello
I am Ibrahim, 15 years old, I seek your help and assistance to save … Safaa Alanqar needs your support for Help Ibrahim's family e
weirdest side effect of the pandemic is how many people i know who get sick and say 'but my covid tests are negative so i should be fine' like you know other illnesses. exist. right.
Howdy folks, the Senate will be considering the first ever resolution blocking arms to Israel. This is huge and historic; it would block government contracting and about $20 billion in arms and support. This is an uphill battle, PLEASE urge your senators to support S.J.Res114-115. This is maybe the most important piece of legislation relating to Palestine that we have ever gotten and we must seize this opportunity.
This doc has information on the resolutions and their process, as well as sample messages and a phone script you can use. Please, use this moment to hear witness for your neighbors.
On September 25, 2025, Senator Bernie Sanders (Vermont) introduced two joint resolutions: S.J.Res.114-115. If passed, these resolutions woul
This is a massive call to action even if you live in a blue state! You cannot simply trust that your senator will do the right thing here. They need to hear that we still care even if the election is behind us.
it should be obvious by the actions of the democracts that being blue does not guarantee they dont supprot israel. Demand your sentors stop arming israel
Call (202) 224-3121 to get connected to your Senator and demand that they stop sending arms to Israel.
You can use these words:
“My name is [Your Name] and I am your constituent from [Your Address]. I am asking the Senator to cosponsor Senate Joint Resolutions 111 through 116 to disapprove of the proposed foreign military sale of certain defense articles and services to Israel. The resolution was introduced by Senator Sanders.”
ok last thing. but what people fundamentally need to get through their heads is the significance of gaza fundraisers not being the same as like mutual aid when you're helping someone get groceries, because it is a genocide. there is insane deliberate scarcity and prices are unmanageable, because there is nowhere nearly enough for everyone, so only people who can pay can eat. and what positioning individual fundraisers as the only course of action does is quite simply give a tiny percentage of random people whose fundraisers take off the ability to pay those prices while thousands of others can't. and every one of those thousands of people without a fundraiser is suffering through the same inconceivably horrific reality. it is giving a few completely desperate people out of hundreds of thousands a slightly more favorable position in a horrific war economy of imposed scarcity. and what grassroots community kitchens do is try to mitigate in some small way that inconceivable hierarchy of who can pay and who can't, by stretching ingredients as far as they can last to cook meals at large scale and give them out at no cost. and obviously people are still going to send money to their friends and families because this is hell what else are we supposed to do but please just think about that before promoting endless individual fundraisers as somehow the most ethical way to help
Why is no one talking to me? No one checks on my family anymore. Are we no longer important, the six of us?! When will I find someone to care about us? Will it be when we are bombed or dead?
The people here helped me, and the Tumblr community is wonderful. I love you all.
But no one wants to check on my family anymore. I have four children who live every day in fear, with bombings and death, in a place without sanitation, filled with epidemics and diseases. Even food is now just canned goods. Is a child supposed to live their life here without any sweets or treats?
Are we dead?! Is that why no one answers or asks about us? Or has the world's conscience died, so they don’t think about us or inquire about us?
I created a post telling our story in black and white because my family and I are starting to lose hope. Perhaps someone will look at the pictures and read the story, realizing that this family is on the brink of becoming a memory.
My children, my wife, and I read your comments and your words, and the messages you send. Why have you stopped? No one is standing with us. You know, even internet and electricity here are hard to come by, and we walk a long way to reach a place just to tell you that we are still alive here in Gaza.
We hoped someone would fight with us, try to raise our voice to the world, send our campaign to friends, or even try to adopt our cause and reach out to people, asking them to write and share our story.
If I’m the only one here in Gaza trying to raise my family's voice and save them, I won’t succeed alone.
I'm writing this because I can't do it alone, and I hope you will support me and stand with me.
Just read this with your hearts. My family and I need your support with your own selves, minds, and consciences, not just donations, above all else.
I will attach a picture of my family here, hoping it will make someone look with their heart, talk to us, and say, “I will try to help you.”
This is the link to my campaign»»»
I hope to find someone who cares about whether my family and I are still alive.
