SPOILERS FOR I'M A FOOL FOR LOVE FIC by @thatdude20!
-For the intro, I started it off with Ep7 (the cast and Caine's first scene) + chapter 2 (Bubble ragebaiting insulting Caine to his breaking point)
-The lines that are seen in the part 'and I've lost it all, I'm just a silhouette':
+ ''But he had.''
This coincidentally foreshadows what happened between him and Scratch (UNINTENTIONALLY btw)
-'I'm a lifeless face' hence the bee npc since it is LITERALLY a lifeless face' :)
-'and my eyes are damp', from the words you left' scene in chapter 12 with Gangle hugging Caine + scene Ragatha and Gangle go worried over him (from the words you left)
-'Ringing in my head(1)' » he's running on adrenaline in this scene and pushing himself to his limits, hence the 'ringing'!!!
-'when you broke my chest(1)'
We see his expanded form since the abstractions 'broke' his small shell/prison(?) which is his avatar, whilst slightly showing the cast glitching
-"ringing in my head(2)'-
During the haunted amusement park adventure, the 'ringing' represents the memories of what Scratch did to him and what HE did to Scratch + being in Scratch's place this time (the father)
-'when you broke my chest' chest = heart (and trust if you wanna delve deeper) for this scene during his crashout chapter, since next scene it pans out to Gangle then cuts to —
'and if you're in love'- Gangle offering time to be his friend (which he hasn't gotten that kind of love for a while since...) + colored because it's a happy memory
'then you are the lucky one'
A memory with Queenie this time colored like that also bc it's a simpler time + Queenie feels like the 'lucky one' too! (Caine also!)
-"Cause most of us are bitter over someone" panning over to Scratch's post it note, since legit everyone has bitter feelings over this canine.
-'Setting fire to our insides for fun'
Represented by the rule violations 'setting fire to his insides' of Caine and eventually same goes to the remaining cast except Gangle (only one in white)
-"... from ever missing love"
This was timed at Caine since I'm highlighting Gangle and Caine's mutual friendship + replaced the word 'them' with 'love' by accident but it fits because IM A FOOL FOR LOVE!!!
- For the last three 'and you caused it'
1) Kinger + panning to the cast (caused aa lotta pain on him)
2) Caine (bc of his crashout oof and putting the rule violations onto them)
3) Technically Gangle (although focus is not on her but the computer since Caine doesn't really blame her for what she did and this is more focused on her working on fixing Caine's decision at the POV of Caine)
Extra ones:
- During the first scene of the cast, everyone is in dark blue but Jax is in dark purple, hmmm I wonder why?
- Gangle was shaking during the first hug scene (chapter 12) as shown by the shake lines that were moving :)
- This animatic took around one week to make art + edit which is impressive btw, I'm surprised at my own capabilities
-This animatic follows chapters whilst having a dark bg chronologically UP UNTIL THE FLASHBACKS (chapter 7 + 38) then after that, majority of the scenes after have a LIGHT BG 🫰
- There was text behind ''HEAD'' during the first 'ringing in my head' scene, which are taken from the actual fic in chapter 14 'Helping Bucket'
-The flashes of Scratch during the 'bitter over someone' bit goes as follows:
1) Scratch mad at Caine and tries to find an exit
2) Typing commands
3) Scratch looking terrified
4) Ditto but he faces Caine, revealing his half-abstracted state
-Caine's hand during the 'silhouette' part is kind of staticky which is a reference to....something in the Last Act, will not elaborate if you know you know
-The scrolling rule violations are much faster for the humans than Caine's since this is their first time dealing with such rules :')
-Yes, Kinger has shine in his eyes then loses it during the third to last 'and you caused it', because he feels guilty
First thoughts: AAAHHH THIS IS SO COOL AND AMAZING I LOVE IT SO MUCHHHHH
Deeper thoughts:
Scratch continuously haunting the narrative is fantastic. Every turn I see that fucker there. And I love how you drew scratch to be just as scared as Caine is. He may have been angry and aggressive, but he was just as scared as everyone else was. I love the lyrics when it pans to the happy birthday note. Absolutely gobsmacked. Jaw dropped.
I love the different shifts to blame. Scratch is to blame, Kinger is to blame, the cast is to blame. It’s so cool to see who gets blamed depending on where Caine is in his mental process!
I LOVE how Gangle contrasts with the lyrics. And I LOVE how she runs to him at the end. It’s so perfect and she’s lovely and Caine NEEDED someone to hold him istg bro.
QUEENIE! MY GIRL! I love how bright and colorful that scene was compared to the rest. Really shows how much simpler life used to be.

I do know the SOMA theory! And it is not applicable to my universe. A lot of that part (how the humans are actually there) is still being decided and fleshed out, but I have ideas and they aren’t the SOMA theory!

Every time someone draws my Caine happy I melt inside. Cause she’s gone through SO MUCH and deserves happiness.
Rq psa on why I haven’t updated yet: I work 3 jobs and they all decided to schedule shifts together! So I’ve basically gone from 8 hour day shifts to a 12 hour graveyard shift back to an 8 hour shift followed by a 6 hour shift. I’ve gotten veeeerrrryyyy little sleep. Which usually isn’t a problem for me (I thrive on sleep deprivation) but in this case I’ve had no time to sleep much less write, though it pains me so.
I was going to have free time tomorrow, but I received a not so nice letter from a neighbor I’d never met trying to hit on me, and turns out bros a sex offender on probation and he broke probation when he shoved a handwritten note under my apartment door. And the police advised I’m not allowed to be alone since he threatened me for reporting him! So tomorrow I’m spending ALLLLLL DAAAAYYYY at the police station! Horray! I totally don’t wanna kms! So who tf knows when I’m going to get out the next chapter, and I’m so so sorry about that. A03 curse hits hard!!

I’m curious, I’ve never really thought about it before since there’s so many theories on it for the canon show.
But this isn’t the canon show, so I wanna know: Why did Bubble start insulting Caine in your au?
For the canon show, there’s all those theories of “bubble is a virus,” “bubble speaks on Caine’s intrusive thoughts,” etc.
But since we know tha Bubble is simply an NPC Caine created, why did Bubble start to insult Caine and encourage him to hurt the members?
Knowing Bubble can’t do any actual harm because they’re just an NPC that Caine can and has already shut down is reassuring but, yk.
Imagine if the first thing that Bubble does when it comes back is make fun of everyone 😭😭that would be funny to me lmao
The reasoning behind it is actually quite sad.
Bubble was the first AI ever created in his circus because he was lonely. The programmers only visited to run tests, and Queenie wasn’t around as often because she wasn’t a programmer, so he became isolated and sad. Bubble was meant to be his first friend. Only, Caine put too much of himself in Bubble, and in turn, Bubble became able to read Caine.
Bubble basically acts as Caine’s intrusive thoughts. What he thinks, deep down. Since Bubble is so tied to Caine, literally through code, he sees everything. And because Caine never added a filter on him (he wanted Bubble to speak his mind and never be controlled by someone else), he isn’t able to stop him from saying what he wants.
Btw, I started reading your fic as I was in the process of seriously starting work on my own thesis (doing research now) and the quantity + quality of your writing is just so amazing and inspiring, especially as you were finishing up your thesis for a huge chunk of it.
Thank you so much! Writing fanfiction actually helped me reset my mind FOR my thesis! It kept me writing but it also let me take a break so I wouldn’t get sick and tired of writing itself. It’s the only reason I finished my thesis tbh haha

Quick comment but I love how your Caine is portrayed as very intelligent and well spoken with a more rich vocabulary when he’s not in his ‘ringleader’ role. A lot of fanfics rarely do this which is a shame especially it’s shown that he’s much smarter in canon than he lets on.
Thank you!! He really IS much smarter than anyone ever gives him credit for. I mean, he’s been running the circus for so long. Even in canon he was smart enough to absorb his replacement and create the entire circus! He was created to be an intelligent AI, and I really wanted to portray that aspect in my fic. People assume that because he’s creative AI, he’s creative in the artistic sense. I take that as he’s creative enough to come up with any solution to any problem because he thinks outside the box. That’s a form of intelligence that’s not really touched on!
