The castle, tall and black and misshapen though it was, blowing its peculiar little wisps of smoke from one turret or another, did not look out of place here. Magic had been at work here. Sophie knew it had. And the castle fitted somehow

Been reading howls moving castle lately and i do love how idgaf maxxing sophie is about. Everything. Learns her sisters swapped places bc one wanted to learn magic while the other wanted a family😐👍 gets turned into an old lady by the wicked witch of the waste😐👍 meets a fire demon and makes a contract w him before taking a nap on a cozy chair😐👍 learns shes a witch ans has been speaking magic into every hat she ever made😐👍 like i strive to give that little of a fuck. Which is contrasted to howl going on a neurotic spiral every two pages

I NEED YOUR HELP

My ACNH island is called Ingary and because I am. Like I am, I obviously decided to make it… Ingary. This is quite difficult with four major locations (Market Chipping, Porthaven, Kingsbury, and the Waste), plus a few moderately important ones (the marsh, the hill where Sophie meets the scarecrow… Mrs Fairfax), and the other limitations with ACNH (like not being able to move resident services) but I’m mostly happy with it from a design perspective.

Market chipping (plus Nooks/Able’s/Martha’s house as Cesari’s in front, down a level. Sophie’s flower shop visible up a level)

Porthaven on the beach and in town. The storage shed and stable are supposed to be Howl’s shop! There’s a funfair further back, too.

The waste is my favourite part I think.

Although I’m also partial to the marshes and the hill where Sophie meets the scarecrow and the dog. There’s an arfoid barking just out of sight behind the far right tree.

There’s a lot of empty space (there’s an orchard next to market chipping and a forest on the other side by the flowers/museum)

I feel like the cluster of houses by the hill and resident services SHOULD be Kingsbury, but it’s next to the scarecrow/dog hill. Plus I don’t feel like Kingsbury would have lots of farmland nearby, which the hill does!

Actually, looking it up right now, Mrs Fairfax even lives in a valley between Market Chipping and Upper Folding (which I forgot existed) and the king lives on a mountain! Maybe he’s what I meant for the museum?

ANYWAY RIGHT my point is I don’t know what to do about Kingsbury. Currently I have money trees around resident services and will add gold roses as I get them, but it’s so uninspiring!!

Should I flatten everything and start again? Shuffle market chipping along and build upper folding (there’s a river supposed to run between them that I don’t have too!) and then put Kingsbury by resident services?

first of all i'm UNBELIEVABLY obsessed w this and secondly i'm SO HAPPY that i was someone who you thought could weigh in on this. unfortunately i have never played animal crossing so i am coming into this as a fool and a novice.

the waste is so perfect and i love porthaven with its beach!!! also the hatter sisters are soso cute, i love them. also i don't know how much work it takes to do things in animal crossing but this seems like it must've been quite a bit of work?? it's so detailed!!

regarding geography, what you said matches my recollection that past market chipping (where martha lives) is the upper folding valley (where lettie & mrs fairfax live) and then kingsbury (where mrs pentstemmon lives) but i see how that would be hard to arrange with the geographical layout. if kingsbury IS by resident services it might make more sense to have lettie closer to martha's area so it's between her and kingsbury but i don't know how complicated it is to move things!!

does anyone with animal crossing experience have more useful thoughts??
