Just my interpretation! Hero Hawks!!!!!!!🪶🪶
I love his wings, so I end up drawing them bigger than I mean to.
Also, I really want to draw the summer sky and Hawks next!! ☁️ The rainy season is finally over here in Japan! ☀️ It’s so hot every day now.

So I have been thinking about corporate horror again. For reference, this is the category into which I put things like Severance, Thomas Ligotti, Episode 11 of I Am In Eskew and Chapter 7 of Silt Verses, and those scenes in Cabin in the Woods where the guys in ties complain about the Japanese office. People are having a bad time and it yes, it's probably because of the secret cultic rituals requiring human sacrifice, but it's also because Marjorie will not fucking email you back about the catering for the cultic rituals. The catering has to get taken care of, Marjorie! I know someone among the Desecrated 12 has a gluten allergy, Marjorie, but who?!? Do you want me to be the human sacrifice, Marjorie???
Anyway, this kind of horror is distinct from, but has overlap with, another subgenre of horror which I love---"there is a bunch of weird, dangerous stuff in the world and we couldn't stop it but we can contain it and live around it." This is the category into which I put things like SCP, and There is No Antimimetics Division, and probably Cabin in the Woods again. (This subgenre also crosses over into straight scifi, with entries like Warehouse 13, Eureka, The Librarians; I'd argue Angel's corporate seasons also flirted with this.) You see a lot of these kinds of entries on r/nosleep, because it sets up a nicely contained story---a new hire gets instructed on "the rules", proceeds not to follow the rules, spooky thing occurs, new hire flees. And the breadth of jobs r/nosleep has written into this pattern is impressive, from forestry to house sitting to security guard to babysitter to travel nurse to fisherman and sailors to construction workers and escape room managers.
But I do wish that there were more of an attempt to combine the ethos of corporate horror with the more straightforward horror of the nosleep mold. Because after the new hire flees, someone has repost that job opening on Indeed, and clean up the black viscous liquid that the unknown entity spewed in his direction, or convince the walking dead to crawl back into their holes. You have to report the incident to OSHA, and "listen, we told her not to leave that door unlocked after 10:30" is not something they would understand. You're going to have to talk to the company lawyer, who is three venti coffees deep, writing a memo unofficially entitled "here is why strict liability doesn't apply in that recent incident where allegedly, our employees allegedly attempted to allegedly!!! summon the devil."
Maybe it would be an audience of 1, but I certainly would have a good time.
I have! And I've been mulling over why I don't think of it as corporate horror for a lot of today---I think because it's first and foremost about the horror of a place rather than job.
This is not unusual, to be clear. A great deal of horror attaches that horror to a specific locus. The haunted house is the origin point of course, but you can pull it out in a thousand different directions---cemeteries, hospitals, prisons, caves, drowned towns, "this is not a place of honor", small hamlets in Maine, etc. A haunted place is haunted regardless of your relationship to it; it is a gaping maw whether your family has been there for generations, or you're just traveling through on a leaf-peeping trip. Avoiding that place entirely is really your only hope; otherwise, you must play the game on the terms it has set. Widow's Bay is just the first show that seems to be willing to look that full in the face, rather than play it off as an unknown mystery to be solved.
(This works for comedy as well as well---shows like Rutherford Falls or Parks and Rec, or even something like Kim's Convenience or Corner Gas, are ostensibly about the main cast doing jobs, but really more about shading in the place and the people around the job. The job is only the key that opens the door.)
Whereas a haunted job doesn't particularly care where in the world you are, or go. You might stumble into a corporate horror show anywhere in the world, but a critical part of this kind of horror (at least to me) is the coming back. Because it's just a job, right? You can quit anytime you want to, right? Two weeks notice if you're feeling generous, day-of notice if you're not, and then you're gone. Which means that.....well, you're the one waking up every morning and choosing it, choosing the horror again and again. Corporate horror doesn't trap you, it makes you complicit in your own destruction.
And I mean, sure, the horror might look a little different if you're sitting in the Spanish office vs. the California office, but why should it change all that much? Capitalism doesn't.

More characters that can go under the “world’s most beloved omega” category. It’s another action but also a BL. I’m honestly obsessed with the way they keep physical contact with each other, the slight draw to their faces and necks, hands running along their backs,,, ofc it’s still an action so the plot pushes the returned hunter towards saving the world or whatever,,
The biggest downside to being at the top is the weight of the world resting on your shoulders. That weight is crushing and isolating, but in all the different timelines, at least they have each other.

Ch 11 “Wing bones touching” by @shanastoryteller
(Because well-written angst must always be appreciated to the fullest!)
something about Toy Story toys is so strange to me. versions of animated characters based on real world toys, turned back into toys that are slightly different than the actual toys. slinky dog with a rubber spiral instead of a classic metal slinky. the porcelain bo peep and cloth woody turned into jointed plastic action figures. when toy story 4 came out and i saw a $30 talking action figure of forky, a character made out of a spork and a pipe cleaner, i stood in the walmart toy aisle staring at it like cameron from ferris bueller's day off staring at that painting in the art museum
