Dear, Moon.
A rather perfect representation of my material overindulgence and psychological dependency.
WANT.
Feeling like it's my turn soon. I'm ready.
I fully identify with you, Mr. Tiger.
I know exactly what I want and who I want to be. I know exactly why I walk and talk like a machine. I'm now becoming my own self fulfilled prophecy. OH! OH NO! OH NO! NO! OH!
Sink, or SWIM.
Flawless.
Moctezuma's headdress, or Kopilli Ketzalli (sacred crown), as displayed in the Vienna Museum of Ethnology.
Want.
This is going to be a two-part post...
I read a few reviews of the Givenchy couture presentation, and opinions were largely mixed. Personally, I was a bit worried when I saw the images. First thought, "Oh my God, NO! Tisci stole my idea!" While that's a simply ridiculous proposition, it is true; I have pages of ideas (notes and sketches) that are VERY similar to these Givenchy garments. I suppose that's why upon second, third, etc. viewings, I LOVED the looks. Fortunately, Givenchy found inspiration in Asia, and my perspective is firmly "Nubian."
The predominantly white/creme color scheme and pop of color, was so spot-on. I feel like it just lends of bit of mystery and weirdness to the clothes. The feather detailing, unreal. I love how the looks read so clean; in reality, are quite obviously incredibly complicated.
Look 1:
The helmet makes me smile. Simply ridiculous. I wish the swan heads were nixed in favor of a more simple abstract wing curvature. I loved the back more than the front. You really appreciate the feather detail as it wraps around to reverse. The fall of the sleeves was effortless from this perspective.
Look 2:
OK, so this is the story I made up for this outfit (the type of stuff that runs through my mind on the regular)... Somewhere on earth there is an island nation completely isolated from the rest of the world. Society has progressed, uninterrupted for thousands of years, and the people have learned how to exist in harmony with one another, and the plants and animals on their tiny island. They built a great city, hidden behind a waterfall, and were largely content to remain there. Soon though, the people of the island realized that the earth was suffering, and so, many of the people who lived on it. A representative was chosen to speak to the other nations of the world. This is her outfit.
There is something so progressive about look two. The shape is conservative, the detailing is mysterious/modern and SO cool.
MUST LOVE GIVENCHY.
For me, the JPG couture collection was a bit... much. I certainly appreciate the imagination/creativity inherent in the clothes, however I felt like most of the looks were borderline costume. That being said, there is certainly a particular set who will respond to Gautier's idea of glamor.
The above looks were probably the most understated in the collection, and subsequently, my favorites.
Me, moments ago:
How the hell did 23 browser-tabs of Golden Pheasants get opened? Why am I doing this? I have so much studying/work to do!
...Fuck it, these feathers are UNREAL. *Continues to look at Golden Pheasants.
I've decided these birds are what one might call a "butterface" (but-her-face). In this instance... but-his-face. However, they are inclined to wear a mask whilst pursuing tricks.
I've also decided that my friend Daniel needs to purchase some of these. His pigeon-keeping neighbor (I don't understand either) in the BK would be SO jealous.
I present, a mysterious flower.
Go inside, for your finest inspiration. Your dreams will open the door.
Such a LOOK.
Gimme that skort.
I wonder if I'm allowed, ever, to just...
Be.
